1. English Translation

Tan Man Dhan Arpau Sabh Apna
Kavan So Mat Jit Har Har Japna ॥1॥

O True Master! May I be bestowed with the right (type of) wisdom through Your Grace so that I could always recite Your True Name! I have surrendered my body, mind and wealth to the Lord. (1)

Kar Aasa Aaio Prabh Magan
Tumh Pekhat Sobha Merai Aagan ॥1॥ Rahao

O Lord! I had approached You with great hopes and by having a glimpse of Your vision I have enjoyed the bliss and thrill of Your glimpse and I have blossomed forth within (my heart) having won honour and acclaim. (Pause - 1)

Anik Jugat Kar Bahut Beecharao
Saadhsang Is Maneh Udharo ॥2॥

O Lord! I have realised with great efforts and deliberations through Your Grace that I could purify and improve my mind by reciting Your True Name in the company of the holy saints. (2)

Mat Budh Surat Naahee Chaturaaee
Taa Mileeai Ja Leai Milaaee ॥3॥

O Brother! One could unite with the Lord only when the Lord unites someone with Himself through His Grace. I do not possess any wisdom or cleverness for dealing with other persons or for meditation. (3)

Nain Santokhe Prabh Darsan Paaya
Kahu Nanak Safal So Aaiaa ॥4॥4॥9॥

O Nanak! Our eyes got fully satiated when we perceived a glimpse of the Lord. We realised only then that the life of such a person (birth in the world) was really fruitful and worthwhile (who perceives the Lord). (4 -4 -9)

बिलावल महला पाँचवा
तन मन धन अरपउ सभ अपना।
कवन सो मति जित हरि हरि जपना।।१।।

अपना तन, मन और धन—सब कुछ मैं प्रभु को अर्पित करता हूँ।
कौन-सी बुद्धि है, जिससे हरि-हरि का जाप किया जा सके? ॥1॥

करि आसा आइओ प्रभ मागनि।
तुम् पेखत सोभा मेरे आगनि।।१।। रहाउ।।

आशा रखकर मैं प्रभु के पास मांगने आया हूँ।
हे प्रभु! आपको देखते ही मेरे मन-आँगन की शोभा बढ़ जाती है। ॥1॥ रहाउ॥

अनिक जुगत करि बहुत बीचारउ।
साधसंग इस मनहि उधारउ।।२।।

मैं अनेक उपाय और बहुत विचार करता हूँ—
लेकिन यह मन तो साध-संगत में ही उधार (पवित्र) होता है। ॥2॥

मति बुधि सुरति नाही चतुराई।
ता मिलीऐ जा लिए मिलाई।।३।।

ना मेरी बुद्धि, ना समझ, ना ही कोई चतुराई है—
प्रभु तभी मिलते हैं, जब वे स्वयं अपने पास मिला लेते हैं। ॥3॥

नैन संतोखे प्रभ दर्शन पाया।
कहु नानक सफल सो आइआ।।४।।४।।९।।

मेरी आँखें तृप्त हो गईं जब प्रभु का दर्शन प्राप्त हुआ।
नानक कहते हैं—धन्य है वह जन्म, जो प्रभु-दर्शन के लिए आया। ॥4॥4॥9॥

4. Punjabi Translation

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ ਕੇਹੜੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? (ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਦੇ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਨ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ।੧। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਆਸਾ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ (ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਮੰਗਣ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮੇਰੇ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-) ਵੇਹੜੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਢੰਗ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ) ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਬੜਾ ਵਿਚਾਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਕਿਸ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਜਾਏ। ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਤੇ ਇਹੀ ਸਮਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਹੀ) ਇਸ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੈਂ ਬਚਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਕਿਸੇ ਮਤਿ, ਕਿਸੇ ਅਕਲ, ਕਿਸੇ ਧਿਆਨ, ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲ ਸਕਦਾ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ।੩। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣਾ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਤੇ (ਦਰਸਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਜਿਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਰੱਜ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ।੪।੪।੯।
