English Translation

Suhi Kabir Ji ( Thar Har Kampai Bala Jio ) O, Brother! I am not aware as to what treatment (reception) I will get at the hands of my True Master? That is why this foolish human being, bereft of patience and contentment, is trembling with fear. (1)

The (night) period of youth has been spent without any fruitful purpose, and I am worried, lest this period (day) of old age may not be wasted similarly without achieving anything worthwhile, or without reciting True Name. Now all the black hairs have vanished and grey hairs have grown, with snow-white head. (Pause- 1)

This human body also gets withered as soon as the soul leaves this body just as Kacha (soft) pitcher cannot retain water and it oozes (leaks) out in slow time. (2)

How could a virgin, in spite of her beatification enjoy conjugal bliss without the company of the spouse? She cannot enjoy the bliss of a married woman, even though she may perform any formal rituals (like trying to placate a crow).

O, Kabir! Similarly, the ill-fated person spends his whole life in wasteful efforts and suffers the pangs of separation like the virgin or separated woman, without the unison of the Lord-spouse; (4- 2)

सूही कबीर जी ॥ जीव-रूपी कन्या मिलन के समय थर-थर कॉपती है और यह नहीं जानती कि उसका प्रियतम उससे क्या करेगा ॥ १॥

उसकी जवानी रूपी रात्रि नाम-सिमरन के बिना ही बीत गई है और उसे डर है कि उसका बुढापा रूपी दिन भी यूं ही न गुजर जाए। उसके काले केश रूपी भेंवरे उड़ चुके हैं और सफेद केश रूपी बगुले आकर बैठ गए हैं।॥ १॥ रहाउ ॥

कच्चे घड़े में पानी कभी नहीं रहता, वैसे ही यह शरीर है। जब आत्मा रूपी हंस उड़ जाता है तो शरीर मुरझा जाता है॥ २॥ जैसे कुमारी कन्या अपना श्रृंगार करती है लेकिन अपने पति के बिना वह रंगरलियां नहीं मना सकती ॥ ३॥

पति-प्रभु की प्रतीक्षा में कौआ उड़ाते हुए मेरी बाँहें थक चुकी हैं, पर पति-परमेश्वर नहीं आया। कबीर जी कहते हैं कि मेरी यह जीवन-कथा अब समाप्त हो गई है॥ ४ ॥ २ ॥

(ਮੇਰੇ) ਕਾਲੇ ਕੇਸ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ) ਧੌਲੇ ਆ ਗਏ ਹਨ। (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ) ਜੁਆਨੀ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਈ ਹੈ। (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਇਹ ਡਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਕਿਤੇ (ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ) ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਏ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਇਤਨੀ ਉਮਰ ਭਗਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੁਣ) ਮੇਰੀ ਅੰਞਾਣ ਜਿੰਦ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਹਿਮੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ) ਕੀਹ ਸਲੂਕ ਕਰੇਗਾ।੧।

(ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਬੇ-ਪਰਵਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਹੀ ਨਾਹ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤਾਂ ਕੱਚੇ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ) ਕੱਚੇ ਕੁੱਜੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ (ਸੁਆਸ ਬੀਤਦੇ ਗਏ, ਹੁਣ) ਸਰੀਰ ਕੁਮਲਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਜੀਵ-) ਭੌਰ ਉਡਾਰੀ ਮਾਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੁੱਝ ਭੀ ਨਾਹ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ) ।੨।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕੁਆਰੀ ਲੜਕੀ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਰਹੇ, ਪਤੀ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਅਨੰਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਆ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਨਿਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਹੀ ਆਹਰ-ਪਾਹਰ ਕੀਤੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਆਤਮਕ ਸੁਖ ਨਾਹ ਮਿਲਿਆ) ।੩।

ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਹੇ ਪਤੀ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ ਆ ਮਿਲ, ਤੇਰੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਵਿਚ) ਕਾਂ ਉਡਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਭੀ ਥੱਕ ਗਈ ਹੈ, (ਤੇ ਉਧਰੋਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੀ) ਕਹਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਮੁੱਕਣ ਤੇ ਆ ਗਈ ਹੈ।੪।੨।
