Jyon Aaran Loha Paie Bhan Gharaiye, Tio Saakat Joni Paie Bhavai Bhavaaiye; is Hukamnama from Darbar Sahib, Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar. Guru Nanak Dev Ji is the creator of this Mukhwak, and it is documented in Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Ang 752 under Raag Suhi.

English Translation

Suhi Mahala 1 ( Jyon Aaran Loha Paie Bhan Gharaiye )

O, Brother! This man, the lover of Maya, (worldly falsehood) is passed through the cycle of births and deaths, undergoing various sufferings, just as the ironsmith heats the piece of iron in the furnace and then molds into the required shape by hammering it. (1)

O, Brother! You are passed through the cycle of births and deaths every time due to your whims, fancies, and dual-mindedness (Pause- 1)

O, Lord! You are always providing protection to the Guru-minded persons, who are reciting the True Name through the Guru's Grace. Such persons are merged with You by following the Guru'sguidance (teachings), whenever they are united with the Guru, through You dictates as per Your Will. (2)

O, Lord! You are sustaining all the beings after creating them and they enjoy all those comforts, which are bestowed on them. After creating the beings, they are destroyed by You and You care for them like the serving spoon (which serves food to all). You always take pleasure in maintaining various people in their position (as per Your Will) (3)

The body is bound to mingle with dust one day, while the soul will vanish from the body (mingling with the Prime-soul). Even this body will not accompany man after death. O, Man! How could you attain the Lord (after this body disappears)? So it will not be possible to unite with the Lord (after death). (4)

O, Man! You are wasting this human body (life) in fruitless efforts, due to the darkness of ignorance while the lamps of the sun and the moon are shining brightly. Your egoism is plundering, like a thief, the wealth of (Your) moral values. Then whom should we complain against it when we ourselves are responsible for it? (5)

However, the Guru-minded persons are always (awake) enlightened with True Name, as they are not affected by the (thief of) egoism. The Guru-minded persons are enlightened with the light of the Lord (Lord's knowledge) as they have extinguished the fire of worldly desires through (the water of) the Guru's guidance. (6)

The Guru has bestowed the lig1o:t of True Name along with the jewel of knowledge which has appeared in the form of gems of Lord's True Name and the Guru's teachings, thus making the man care-free. (7)

O, Nanak! Let us inculcate the love of the Lord's True Name in our hearts day and night. O, Lord! May we be enabled to join the company of the holy saints through such Guru-minded persons so as to unite with You. (8-2-4)

बिन बूझे सभ दुख दुख कमावणा ॥ हउमै आवै जाए भरम भुलावणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
तूं गुरमुख रखणहार हरि नाम धिआईऐ ॥ मेलहि तुझहि रजाए सबद कमाईऐ ॥२॥

Hukamnama Meaning in Hindi

सूही महला १ ॥ हे भाई! जैसे भट्टी में डालकर लोहे को गालकर निर्मित किया जाता है, वैसे ही शाक्त योनियों में पड़कर जीवन-मृत्यु के बन्धन में भटकता रहता है। १॥

सत्य को समझे बिना उसे हर तरफ दुख ही मिलता है और वह निरा दुख ही भोगता है। अभिमान के कारण वह जन्मता-मरता रहता हैं और भ्रम में ही भूला रहता है॥ १॥ रहाउ॥

हे परमेश्वर! तू गुरुमुख की योनियों के चक्र से रक्षा करने वाला है, इसलिए प्रभु नाम का मनन करना चाहिए तू जीव को अपनी इच्छा से ही गुरु से मिलाता है और फिर वह शब्द की साधना करता है॥ २॥

हे मालिक! जीवों को पैदा कर-करके तू स्वयं ही उनकी देखभाल करता है। जो कुछ तू देता है, उन्हें वही प्राप्त होता है। तू बनाकर-बिगाड़ कर देखता रहता है। तू सबको अपनी निगाह में रखता है॥ ३॥

जब प्राण पखेरु हो जाते हैं तो यह शरीर मिट्टी बन जाता है। अब उसे यह घर एवं बैठक कहाँ से मिलने हैं ? वह मंजिल प्राप्त नहीं करता ॥ ४॥

उज्ज्वल दिन होते हुए भी उसके हृदय-घर में घोर अँधकार बना हुआ है और उसके हृदय-घर का नाम रूपी माल लुटता जा रहा है। अहंकार रुपी चोर उसका हृदय-घर लूटता जाता है लेकिन अब वह किसके पास जाकर फरियाद करे? ॥ ५ ॥

हरि का नाम गुरुमुख को जगाकर अर्थात् सचेत रखता है और गुरुमुख के नाम-धन को चोर नहीं चुराता। शब्द ने उसकी तृष्णा रूपी अग्नि बुझा दी है और मन में ज्ञान-ज्योति प्रज्वलित कर दी है॥ ६॥

गुरु ने यह सूझ बता दी है कि परमात्मा का नाम अमूल्य लाल एवं रत्न है। यदि मनुष्य गुरु उपदेश प्राप्त कर ले तो वह सदैव ही कामना से रहित बना रहता है॥ ७॥

रात-दिन परमात्मा का नाम मन में बसाकर रखना चाहिए। नानक प्रार्थना करता है केि हे हरि ! यदि तुझे उपयुक्त लगे तो जीव को अपने साथ मिला लेता है॥ ८ ॥ २ ॥ ४ ॥

(ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜਾਚ) ਸਮਝਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਭੀ) ਕਰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਦੁੱਖ (ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ (ਸਹੇੜਦਾ ਹੈ) । ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੱਠੀ ਵਿਚ ਲੋਹਾ ਪਾ ਕੇ (ਤੇ) ਗਾਲ ਕੇ (ਨਵੇਂ ਸਿਰੇ) ਘੜਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਲੋਹੇ ਤੋਂ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਣਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ) ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਜੀਵ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਚੱਕਰ ਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਮਤਿ ਸਿੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਭਟਕ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਆਖ਼ਿਰ) ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਚੌਰਾਸੀ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ; ਉਹ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ (ਭੀ) ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ (ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਗੁਰ-ਸ਼ਬਦ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਆਚਰਨ ਬਣਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੀਵ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਉਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਆਪ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਸਭ ਦੀ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ।੩।

ਜਦੋਂ (ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਸੁਆਸ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਹਲ ਮਾੜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਫਿਰ ਨਾਹ ਇਹ ਘਰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਨਾਹ ਬੈਠਕ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਨਾਹ ਇਹ ਮਹਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।

(ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜਾਚ ਸਮਝਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਲ (ਆਤਮਕ ਸਰਮਾਇਆ) ਲੁਟਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਚਿੱਟਾ ਦਿਨ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਭਾ ਦਾ) ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਵਿਚ (ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੋਹ-ਰੂਪ) ਚੋਰ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਘਰ (ਆਤਮਕ ਸਰਮਾਏ) ਨੂੰ ਲੁੱਟਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਸਮਝ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ) ਕਿਸ ਪਾਸ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਕਰੇ?।੫।

ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ (ਦੇ ਸਰਮਾਏ) ਨੂੰ ਚੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦਾ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਆਤਮਕ ਸਰਮਾਏ ਦੇ ਚੋਰ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-) ਅੱਗ ਬੁਝਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਰੱਬੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੬।

ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਲਾਲ ਹੈ ਰਤਨ ਹੈ (ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਅੱਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੋਂਹਦੀ) । ਜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਵਾਸਨਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੭।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭਾਵੇ (ਤਾਂ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਤੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ, ਤਾ ਕਿ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।੮।੨।੪।
