Bhai Gurdas Ji was known as the "Ved Vyas" of Sikhism. His Vaaran are well known as the "Key to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji" but his Kabit Savaiye are a special genre of Sikh literature. Composed mostly in Braj Bhasha, these poems provide a spiritual and philosophical meditative account of the relationship between the Sikh and the Guru.

of 06Who was Bhai Gurdas Ji?
Bhai Gurdas Ji (1551-1636) lived in the times of five Gurus and was the main scribe of the Adi Granth, dictated by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. He lived a life in the service (Sewa) and learning.
The Vaaran (Punjabi language) highlight the social and heroic life of Sikhs, whereas the Kabit Savaiye are more personal, poetic, and flavored with the "Rasa" (essence) of love.
