Slok Mahala 3rd ( Satgur Te Jo Muh Phire )
O Nanak! The persons, who are engrossed in the love of the worldly falsehood, having turned their faces) away from the True Guru, have to undergo sufferings, being caught in worldly bondage. Such persons are born many times in this world while going through the cycle of births and deaths but never get a chance of uniting with the Lord. They are always (engrossed) laboring under doubts and misgivings due to their dual-mindedness, as such, they suffer the torture of many afflictions.
O Nanak! The persons, who are bestowed with the grace and benevolence of the Lord, get united with the Lord through the Guru's guidance. (1)
M-3: The persons, who turn their back away from the Guru, never care (to listen to) for the Guru's Word, do not find peace and tranquillity of mind or any honorable place in the Lord's presence, just as a deserted (wife) woman wanders around (from house to house) and gets a bad name due to her villainous character. O Nanak! The Guru-minded persons, who are blessed with the Guru's Grace, enjoy the eternal bliss in the Lord's unison through the Guru's guidance. (2)
Pouri: The persons, who serve the True Lord, the destroyer of the devil of egoism, are enabled by Him to cross this ocean of life successfully. The persons, who recite the True Name of the Lord, get emancipated from the punishment of the Yama (god of death) as even the Yama keeps away from such persons. (dreads them). Such Guru-minded persons proceed to the Lord's presence with flying colors, as they recite the Lord's True Name.
O, Lord! The persons, who are bestowed with Your Grace, are engaged in the service of the Lord. O, beloved Lord! The Guru-minded persons cast away all their doubts, whims, and fear-complex as they are always engaged in singing the praises of the Lord. (7)

( Satgur Te Jo Muh Phire ) ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ, ਉਹ (ਅੰਤ ਨੂੰ) ਬੱਧੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ, ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦਾ ਰੋਗ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ-ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਲਏ ਤਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੧।
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਹਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਹ ਥਾਂ ਨਾਹ ਥਿੱਤਾ; ਉਹ ਵਿਭ-ਚਾਰਨ ਛੁੱਟੜ ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਾਂਗ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਬਦਨਾਮ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸੱਚੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੇਂਵਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਤਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਛੱਡ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਨਮਾਨੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; (ਪਰ) ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਭਰਮ ਤੇ ਡਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ! ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾਂ।੭।

श्लोक महला ३॥ ( Satgur Te Jo Muh Phire ) जो व्यक्ति सतगुरु की तरफ से मुँह मोड़ लेता है, वे यमपुरी में बंधे हुए दुःख सहन करता रहता है। वह बार-बार जन्मता-मरता रहता है और उसका भगवान से मिलन नहीं होता।
उसका संशय-चिंता का रोग दूर नहीं होता और दुःख में ही वह बहुत दुःखी होता रहता है। हे नानक ! यद्यपि परमात्मा अपनी कृपा-दृष्टि से जीव को क्षमा कर दे तो वह उसे शब्द द्वारा अपने साथ मिला लेता है॥ १॥
महला ३॥ जो व्यक्ति सतगुरु की तरफ से मुंह मोड़ लेते हैं, अर्थात् विमुख हो जाते हैं, उन्हें कहीं भी शरण नहीं मिलती। वे तो छोड़ी हुई स्त्री की भांति घर-घर भटकते रहते हैं और दुराचारिणी के नाम से बदनाम होते हैं। हे नानक ! जिन गुरुमुखों को क्षमादान मिल जाता है, सतगुरु उन्हें ईश्वर से मिला देता है॥ २॥
पउड़ी॥ जो व्यक्ति परम-सत्य प्रभु की आराधना करते हैं, वे भवसागर से पार हो जाते हैं। जो हरि-नाम बोलते रहते हैं, उन्हें यमराज भी छोड़कर दूर हो गया है। जो परमात्मा का जाप करते हैं, वे सत्कृत होकर उसके दरबार में जाते हैं।
हे परमेश्वर ! जिन पर तुम्हारी कृपा है, वही पुरुष तेरी उपासना करते हैं। हे मेरे प्यारे ! मैं सर्वदा ही तेरे गुण गाता रहता हूँ और गुरु के माध्यम से मेरा भ्रम एवं भय नष्ट हो गया है॥ ७ ॥
