Guru Angad Dev Ji Parkash Gurpurab
Join us as we celebrate the 519th Parkash Gurpurab, the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji, the second Guru of the Sikhs. Let us bask in the glory of His divine wisdom and teachings and seek His blessings to illuminate our souls.
Before His anointment as the Guru, He was known as Bhai Lehna Ji. It was only after Guru Nanak Dev Ji appointed Him to the Gurgaddi that He was renamed Angad, signifying the transfer of spiritual light to Him.

Guru Angad Dev Parkash Gurpurab Wishes
Guru Angad Dev Ji's contributions to the Sikh faith are immeasurable. He undertook the task of collecting and compiling the hymns of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, which were mostly written in a language called Lande Mahajni, and some of them had not been written at all but were sung regularly. Guru Angad Dev Ji modified the language by giving its alphabet a better shape, and a new order, which came to be called Gurmukhi or "from the mouth of the Guru." It was in this script that He wrote down the hymns of Guru Nanak, penned His own compositions, and gave lessons to the villagers.
By compiling Guru Nanak's hymns, Guru Angad Dev Ji not only saved them for future generations but also negated the possibility of misinterpretation. He elevated the Shabad or bani (word) to a pathway to salvation, providing the basis of the essential Sikh doctrine that there is no essential difference between the Guru and His Shabad.
On this auspicious occasion of Guru Angad Dev Ji Parkash Gurpurab, let us pay our respects to the great Guru and seek His blessings to guide us on the path of righteousness. May His divine light continue to inspire and enlighten us always.
