Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on April 15, 1469, in a village called Talwandi*. The tradition of Guru and disciple is very ancient in India. The place of Guru is considered higher than that of God. It is only through the Guru that a person gets worldly knowledge and through the Guru, he gets the knowledge of how to attain the Supreme Lord.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji's field of Karma Sadhana, Bhakti Sadhana, and Gyan Sadhana is very vast. To know Nanak, Nanak has to be experienced within himself. One will have to undertake a mental journey of those deserted places where Nanak Devji had actually traveled. Looking at the convex waves of the vast ocean on the banks of Dhanushkoti in the far south, one has to see in them the image of Nanak Dev going to Sri Lanka with his closed eyes. This is the immortal Path of knowing Nanak.Wish you and your Family a Very Happy Gurpurab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
*Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Birthday should've been celebrated in the month of Vaisakh, but somehow it has been shifted to Kartik Puranmashi.
