1. English Translation

Dhanasari Mahala - 9 ( Tripat Bhayi Sach Bhojan Khaya )

O, Brother! The Guru-minded persons, who have partaken the food of the True Name through the Guru's Grace, have been satiated in their hearts as they have recited the Lord's True Name with love and devotion (with body and mind) with their tongue. (1)

O, Brother! The real worthwhile life (out of all) is the life lived in the company of holy saints, by reciting the True Name of the Lord. We are also longing for leading such a fruitful life. (Pause-1)

The persons, who are singing the praises of the Lord day and night and are always engaged in reciting True Name through the Guru's Word (Kirtan) are covered by various protective clothing, and protected by the Lord's Grace). (2)

O, Brother! It appears that such persons are riding elephants, chariots, or horses and are convinced in their minds of meeting (uniting with) the Lord by following this path. (3)

O, Nanak! They have worshipped the lotus feet of the Lord with love and devotion (with body and mind! and recited the Lord's True Name. Thus they have merged with the Lord, the fountainhead of all bliss, and are immersed in the Primesoul. (4 - 2- 56)

धनासरी महला ५ ॥ त्रिपत भई सच भोजन खाया ॥ मन तन रसना नाम धिआया ॥१॥ जीवना हर जीवना ॥ जीवन हर जप साधसंग ॥१॥ रहाओ ॥ अनिक प्रकारी बसत्र ओढाए ॥ अनदिन कीरतन हर गुन गाए ॥२॥ हसती रथ अस असवारी ॥ हर का मारग रिदै निहारी ॥३॥ मन तन अंतर चरन धिआया ॥ हर सुख निधान नानक दास पाया ॥४॥२॥५६॥

धनासरी महला 5 ॥ [ Tripat Bhai Sach Bhojan Khaya ] सत्य का भोजन खाने से मैं तृप्त हो गया हूँ। अपने मन, तन एवं जिह्मा से मैंने परमात्मा के नाम का ध्यान किया है।॥१॥

भगवान के सिमरन में जीना ही वास्तव में सच्चा जीवन है। साधुओं की संगत में मिलकर उसका भजन करना ही वास्तविक जीवन है॥१॥रहाउ ॥

जँहा मैंने अनेक प्रकार के वस्त्र पहने हैं वही मैंने प्रतिदिन ही जो भजन-कीर्तन एवं भगवान का गुणगान किया है।॥२॥

यही मेरे लिए हाथी, रथ एवं घोड़े की सवारी करना है में भगवान से मिलन का मार्ग अपने हृदय में देखता हूँ ॥३॥

मैंने अपने मन, तन, अन्तर में ईश्वर का ही ध्यान किया है। हे नानक ! दास ने सुखों का भण्डार परमेश्वर पा लिया है॥४॥२॥५६॥

4. Meaning in Punjabi

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! [ Tripat Bhai Sach Bhojan Khaya ] ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ) ਖ਼ੁਰਾਕ ਖਾਣੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ, ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ, ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ॥੧॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਬੈਠ ਕੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਕਰੋ - ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜੀਵਨ, ਇਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਸਲ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਦੇ (ਵੰਨ ਸੁਵੰਨੇ) ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਹਿਨ ਲਏ ਹਨ (ਤੇ ਉਹ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਸੋਹਣੀਆਂ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ), ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਹਾਥੀ ਰਥਾਂ ਘੋੜਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਵਾਰੀ (ਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ), ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਤੱਕਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦਾਸ ਨੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥੫੬॥
