Sorath Mehla 1
Jinhī Satgur seviyā piāre, tinh ke sāth tare.
Tinhā ṭhāk na pāīai piāre, amrit rasan hare.
Būḍe bhāre bhai binā piāre, tāre nadar kare. ||1||

O, dear friend! The persons, who have served the True Guru, and followed the Guru's teachings, have not only attained salvation themselves but even their colleagues have crossed this ocean of life successfully. The Guru-minded persons, who have flourished with (tasting) the nectar of True Name with their tongue, have not been hampered in their progress by vicious thoughts or sinful actions or worldly falsehood and greed. Such Guru-minded persons are bestowed with the Lord's Grace and attain salvation. O, dear friend! However, the persons who are buried under the weight of sins and vices, being devoid of the love of the Lord, have been drowned in this ocean of life. (1)

Bhī tūhai sālāhṇā piāre, bhī terī sālāh.
Viṇ bohith bhai ḍubīai piāre, kandhī pāe kahāh. ||1|| Rahāo ||

O, dear Lord! We should always sing Your praises with our hearts and praise Your Greatness with our tongue (speech) as well. O, dear Lord! Without the help of Your ship of the safety of True Name, man gets drowned in this ocean of life due to his fear complex, as without the help of True Name it is not possible to reach safely the distant shore. (when the saints are crying hoarse from the shore that we should save ourselves by catching hold of True Name while no one listens to this advice. (Pause)

Sālāhī sālāhṇā piāre dūjā avar na koe.
Mere prabh sālāhan se bhale piāre sabad rate rang hoe.
Tis kī sangat je milai piāre ras lai tat viloe. ||2||

Dear friend! Apart from the Lord, there is no other power on Earth worthy of our praise, so we should always sing the praises of the Lord. O, dear friend! The Guru-minded persons, who sing the praises of my True Master, are truly great, and virtuous, as they enjoy the bliss of the Lord's love, being immersed in His True Name all the time. O, dear friend! The persons, who gain the company of such Guru-minded persons, attain the ideal of life by meditating and contemplating on the value of True Name; and make a success of life and its aim. (2)

Pat parvānā sāc kā piāre nām sacā nīsāṇ.
Āiā likh lai jāvṇā piāre hukmī hukam pachhāṇ.
Gur bin hukam na būjhīai piāre sāce sācā ṭāṇ. ||3||

O, dear friend! The persons, who have a letter (permit) of the Lord's True Name as an authority letter, always receive honor m this world and the next world by this letter. O, dear friend! The person, who has been born in this world has to die one day along with details of their doings maintained by Chitra Gupt, (The accountant of Dharam Raj) as such we should follow the dictates of the Lord, the proclaimer of the Lord's Will. O, dear friend! In fact, without the Guru's guidance, we cannot follow the Lord's Will as everything is controlled by the Lord Himself. (3)

Hukmai andar nimmiā piāre hukmai udar majhār.
Hukmai andar jammiā piāre ūdhau sir kai bhār.
Gurmukh dargeh jāṇīai piāre chalai kāraj sār. ||4||

O, dear friend! The body of this human being is also created as per the Lord's Will by the conjugal union of the parents and then the body is sustained under His dictates. O, friend! Then this body is born upside down as per the Lord's Will. The Guru-minded persons are received with honor in the Lord's Court, having spent this life successfully and achieved the ideal of life and leaving this world having attained salvation. (4)

Hukmai andar āiā piāre hukme jādo jāe.
Hukme banhi chalāīai piāre manmukh lahai sajāe.
Hukme sabad pachhāṇīai piāre dargeh paidhā jāe. ||5||

O, dear friend! It is with the Lord's Will that the human being is born in this world and then proceeds to the next world after death as per the Lord's Will. The self-willed ·persons are (taken to) thrown into hell in bondage by the Yama, where they are punished; while O, friend! The Guru-minded persons have realized the Lord as per His Will and are given robes of honor and received with acceptance in the Lord's Presence. (5)

Hukme gaṇat gaṇāīai piāre hukme haumai doe.
Hukme bhavai bhavāīai piāre avgaṇi muthī roe.
Hukam siñāpai sāh kā piāre sac milai vaḍiāī hoe. ||6||

O, dear friend! This human being gives an account of his deeds in the world as per the Lord's Will and functions with ego and attachment in the world as per His WilL This man is taken through various whims and doubts of dual-mindedness as per His Will. Thus the whole world cries in being subjected to plunder and misdeeds, as per His dictates. O, dear friend! If the human being were to appreciate and realize the Lord's Will, he would merge with the Lord, thus gaining an honorable position both in this world and hereafter. (6)

Ākhaṇ aukhā ākhīai piāre kiou suṇīai sac nāu.
Jinhī so sālāhiā piāre hau tinh balihārai jāu.
Nāu milai santokhīāṁ piāre nadarī mel milāu. ||7||

O, dear friend! It is rather difficult to recite the Lord's True Name or even to repeat or listen to the Lord's True Name is not simple and easy. So how could a man listen to such a True Name? O, dear friend! I would offer myself as a sacrifice to such Guru-minded persons who have sung the praises of the - Lord. O, dear friend! The Guru-minded persons, who have developed faith in the Lord, are only blessed with a True Name. and the Lord unites them with Himself through His Grace; (7)

Kāiā kāgad je thīai piāre man masvāṇī dhār.
Laltā lekhaṇ sac kī piāre har guṇ likho vīchār.
Dhan lekhārī Nānakā piāre sāc likhai ur dhār. ||8||3||

O, dear friend! If this body were made of paper, and the intelligence (wisdom) became paper, the mind would become an inkpot of wind and add the ink of good virtues in it. The tongue is then made a pen for writing truthfulness and the True Name is recited within this human body and then the virtues of the Lord, with great thought and consideration are written (the Virtues of our True Master are written) on the paper of senses, or intelligence. O, friend! O, Nanak! Blessed is the writer who writes after inculcating the love of the Lord in his heart. (8-3)

सोरठि महला १ ॥ हे मेरे प्यारे ! जिन्होंने सतगुरु की सेवा की है, उनके साथी भी भवसागर से पार हो गए हैं। जिन की रसना हरिनामामृत चखती रहती है, उन्हें भगवान के दरबार में प्रवेश करने में कोई अड़चन नहीं आती। हे मेरे प्यारे ! जो लोग भगवान के भय बिना पापों के भार से भरे हुए हैं, वे डूब गए हैं, यदि ईश्वर उन पर दया करे तो वे भी भवसागर से पार हो सकते हैं।॥ १॥

हे प्यारे प्रभु! मैं हमेशा ही तेरी स्तुति करता हूँ और सदा तेरी ही स्तुति करनी चाहिए। हे प्यारे ! नाम-जहाज के बिना मनुष्य भवसागर में ही डूब जाता है और वह कैसे दूसरे किनारे को पा सकता है॥ १॥ रहाउ॥

हे प्यारे! हमें महामहिम परमात्मा की महिमा करनी चाहिए चूंकि उसके अलावा दूसरा कोई भी महिमा के योग्य नहीं। जो मेरे प्रभु की प्रशंसा करते हैं, वे श्रेष्ठ हैं, वे शब्द के साथ मग्न रहते हैं और उन्हें प्रभु के प्रेम-रंग की देन मिलती है। हे प्यारे ! यदि में भी उनकी संगति में मिल जाऊँ तो नाम-रस को लेकर तत्त्व का मंथन करूं ॥ २॥

हे प्यारे! सत्य-नाम ही प्रभु की दरगाह में जाने के लिए परवाना है और यही जीव की प्रतिष्ठा है। इस दुनिया में आकर मनुष्य को इस प्रकार का परवाना लेकर जाना चाहिए और हुक्म करने वाले भगवान के हुक्म से परिचित होना चाहिए। गुरु के बिना परमात्मा के हुक्म की सूझ नहीं आती और उस सच्चे प्रभु का बल सत्य है॥ ३॥

हे प्यारे! परमात्मा के हुक्म में ही प्राणी माता के गर्भ में आता है और उसके हुक्म में वह माता के गर्भ में ही विकसित होता है। हे प्यारे ! ईश्वर हुक्म में ही प्राणी माता के गर्भ में सिर के भार उल्टा होकर जन्म लेता है। हे प्यारे ! गुरुमुख मनुष्य ईश्वर दरबार में सम्मानित होता है और अपने सभी कार्य संवार कर दुनिया से चल देता है॥ ४॥

हे प्यारे! मनुष्य भगवान के हुक्म में इस दुनिया में आया है और हुक्म में ही दुनिया से चले जाना है। हुक्म में ही मनुष्य बांधकर दुनिया से भेज दिया जाता है और मनमुख व्यक्ति भगवान के दरबार में दण्ड प्राप्त करता है। हे प्यारे ! ईश्वर के हुक्म में जीव शब्द की पहचान करता है और दरबार में बड़ी शोभा प्राप्त करता है॥ ५॥

ईश्वर के हुक्म में ही मनुष्य कर्मों की गणनाएँ गिनता है और ईश्वर के हुक्म में ही अभिमान एवं अहंत्व उत्पन्न होते हैं। हे प्यारे ! ईश्वर के हुक्म में ही मनुष्य कर्मों में जकड़ा हुआ भटकता फिरता है और बुराइयों में ठगी हुई दुनिया विलाप करती है। यदि मनुष्य ईश्वर के हुक्म को समझ ले तो उसे सत्य की प्राप्ति होती है और उसकी दुनिया में बहुत शोभा होती है॥ ६॥

हे प्यारे! भगवान के नाम का बखान करना बड़ा कठिन है, फिर हम कैसे सत्य नाम को कह एवं सुन सकते हैं। हे प्यारे ! जिन्होंने ईश्वर का स्तुतिगान किया है, मैं उन पर कुर्बान जाता हूँ। ईश्वर के नाम को प्राप्त करके मुझे बड़ा संतोष हुआ है और उसकी कृपा से मैं उसके संग मिल गया हूँ॥ ७॥

हे प्यारे! यदि मेरा यह शरीर कागज बन जाए मन को दवात मान लिया जाए और यदि मेरी यह जिव्हा सत्य की कलम बन जाए तो मैं विचार करके उस परमेश्वर की ही महिमा लिखूंगा। नानक का कथन है कि हे प्यारे ! वह लिखने वाला धन्य है जो सत्य नाम को अपने हृदय में धारण करता और लिखता है॥ ८ ॥ ३॥

 ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਦਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਇਸ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਹੈ, ਇਸ) ਜਹਾਜ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਭਉ-ਸਾਗਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਜੀਵ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦਾ) ਪਾਰਲਾ ਕੰਢਾ ਲੱਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਗੀ-ਸਾਥੀ ਭੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਚੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ) ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ। ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਡਰ-ਅਦਬ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਲੱਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਸਾਲਾਹਣ-ਜੋਗ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਵਰਗਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਲਗਨ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਜੇਹੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜੇ (ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਰਸ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ (ਨਾਮ-ਦੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ) ਰਿੜਕ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਜਗਤ ਮੂਲ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ (ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਰਾਹਦਾਰੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮੋਹਰ ਹੈ। (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਇਹੀ ਹੁਕਮ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਜੋ ਭੀ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਰਾਹਦਾਰੀ) ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਜਾਣੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਇਸ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ (ਪਰ ਇਸ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਲਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈਣਾ ਪਏਗਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਾਕਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਬਲ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੀਵ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ (ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਮਾਤਾ ਦੇ ਗਰਭ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚ (ਦਸ ਮਹੀਨੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ) । ਪੁੱਠਾ ਸਿਰ ਭਾਰ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ (ਫਿਰ) ਜਨਮ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਕਿਸੇ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਜੀਵ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਨੂੰ ਸਵਾਰ ਕੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।

ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਜੀਵ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਇਥੋਂ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਜੋਰੋ ਜੋਰੀ) ਇਥੋਂ ਤੋਰਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ) । ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਜਨਮ-ਮਨੋਰਥ ਨੂੰ) ਪਛਾਣ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੫।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ (ਕਿਤੇ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ਸੋਚੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਹੈ ਕਿਤੇ ਦ੍ਵੈਤ ਹੈ। ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ (ਕਿਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਭਟਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, (ਕਿਤੇ ਕੋਈ) ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੀ ਠੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਲੋਕਾਈ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦੁੱਖ) ਰੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਹ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ।੬।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਇਤਨਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨਾ ਬੜਾ ਕਠਨ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਹੇਠ ਜੀਵ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ, ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁਣਦੇ) । ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। (ਮੇਰੀ ਇਹੀ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲੇ ਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੰਤੋਖੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ, ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ।੭।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਸਾਡਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਕਾਗ਼ਜ਼ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ, ਜੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਹੀ ਦੀ ਦਵਾਤ ਬਣਾ ਲਈਏ, ਜੇ ਸਾਡੀ ਜੀਭ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਲਿਖਣ ਲਈ ਕਲਮ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ, ਤਾਂ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੁਭਾਗਤਾ ਇਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਚ-ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਉੱਕਰਦੇ ਚੱਲੋ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਲਿਖਾਰੀ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਉੱਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੮।੩।
