Hukamnama Translation:

Dhanasari Mahala - 5 ( Mohe Maskeen Prabh Naam Adhaar )

O, Brother! This poor and humble person has the support of the Lord's True Name alone, and I prefer to deal in the business of the Lord's True Name as it appeals to me. I am trying to amass only the True Name of the Lord. The person, who recites. True Name, is protected by True Name only in this world and hereafter. (1) ·

The persons, who are imbued with love of True Name, attain the True Lord, the limitless treasure of True Name. Seeing this the holy saints sing the ·praises of the Lord alone. (Pause) The saints are honoured for professing extreme humility and greatly respected for singing the praises of the Lord. They further enjoy the bliss of life by reciting the Lord's True Name. (by worshipping the Lord) They always enjoy worldly comforts as all their worries are cast away. (2)

O, Brother! Wherever the saints gather together and sing the praises of the Lord in the company of holy congregations, one could hear the unstrung (all-pervasive) music of the Lord or poetry being sung in His honour. Such devotees have found joy and peace of mind in the company of holy saints but this chance of getting the saints' company is given to few fortunate O persons, pre-destined by the Lord's Will. (3)

I would pray with folded hands to such saints wash their lotus feet and then sing the praises of the company of holy saints. Finally, the benevolent Lord benefactor Himself appears before such devotees to enable them to have a glance of His vision. O, Nanak! I prefer to live by applying the dust of the lotus feet of such saints on my forehead. (4-2-23)

For the humble in me the Lord's Name is a prop,
To deal in the Name I have a shop.
I garner alone the Name True,
Here and hereafter it comes to my rescue. (1)

Dyed in the Name I love the Lord Limitless,
In the company of the holy, I laud the Formless.
The greatness of the holy is their humility,
Their glory is laudation of the Deity.
With the holy it is ever bliss and devotion,

It is peace and poise without any commotion. (2)
Where the holy foregather,
They laud the Lord in melody and phrase.
In the company of the holy it is bliss and peace,
But they get to them who have it inscribed in their case. (3) Refrain

With both my hands folded I pray.
Propitiating the feet of the virtuous, I say:
Lord Compassionate and Kind! I came to Thee,
Nanak is sustained on the dust of the feet of the holy. (4) 2.23

Mukhwak in Punjabi

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਜਿਜ਼ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਖੱਟਣ ਕਮਾਣ ਲਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਹੈ। ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ (ਭੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਹੈ। (ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ- ਇੱਕ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬਹੁਤ ਨਿਮ੍ਰਤਾ-ਸੁਭਾਉ ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ (ਦਾ ਮੂਲ) ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੀ ਸੰਤ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ (ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ) ਹੈ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਆਨੰਦ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਭਗਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਤ ਜਿੱਥੇ (ਭੀ) ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਥੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਜ ਵਰਤ ਕੇ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦਾ ਗੀਤ (ਹੀ) ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠਿਆਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹਾਸਲ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ (ਦਾ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ) ॥੩॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਦਇਆਲ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ਨਾਨਕ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਤੋਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥੨੩॥

धनासरी महला ५ ॥ मोहि मसकीन प्रभ नाम अधार ॥ खाटण कउ हरि हरि रोजगार ॥ संचण कउ हरि एको नाम ॥ हलत पलत ता कै आवै काम ॥१॥ नाम रते प्रभ रंग अपार ॥ साध गावहि गुण एक निरंकार ॥ रहाउ ॥ साध की सोभा अत मसकीनी ॥ संत वडाई हरि जस चीनी ॥ अनद संतन कै भगत गोविंद ॥ सूख संतन कै बिनसी चिंद ॥२॥ जह साध संतन होवहि इकत्र ॥ तह हरि जसु गावहि नाद कवित ॥ साध सभा महि अनद बिस्राम ॥ उन संग सो पाए जिस मसतक कराम ॥३॥ दुइ कर जोड़ करी अरदास ॥ चरन पखार कहां गुणतास ॥ प्रभ दयाल किरपाल हजूर ॥ नानक जीवै संता धूर ॥४॥२॥२३॥

Hindi Translation

धनासरी महला ५ ॥ मुझ विनीत को प्रभु का नाम ही एक सहारा है। मेरे कमाने के लिए हरि-नाम ही मेरा रोजगार है। जिस व्यक्ति के पास संचित करने के लिए एकमात्र हरि-नाम है, यह नाम ही इहलोक एवं आगे परलोक में उसके काम आता है॥ १॥

प्रभु के प्रेम रंग एवं नाम में लीन होकर साधुजन तो केवल निराकार परमेश्वर का ही गुणगान करते हैं।॥ रहाउ ॥

साधु की शोभा उसकी अत्यंत विनम्रता में है। संत का बड़प्पन उसके हरि-यश गायन करने से जाना जाता है। परमात्मा की भक्ति उनके हृदय में आनंद उत्पन्न करती है। संतों के मन में यही सुख की अनुभूति होती है कि उनकी चिंता का नाश हो जाता है॥ २॥

जहाँ भी साधु-संत एकत्र होते हैं, वहाँ ही वे संगीत एवं काव्य द्वारा हरि का यश-गान करते हैं। साधुओं की सभा में आनंद एवं शान्ति की प्राप्ति होती है। उनकी संगति भी वही मनुष्य करता है, जिसके मस्तक पर पूर्व कर्मों द्वारा ऐसा भाग्य लिखा होता है॥ ३॥

मैं अपने दोनों हाथ जोड़कर प्रार्थना करता हूँ कि मैं संतों के चरण धोता रहूँ और गुणों के भण्डार प्रभु का ही नाम-सिमरन करने में मग्न रहूँ। जो हमेशा ही दयालु एवं कृपालु प्रभु की उपस्थिति में रहते हैं, नानक तो उन संतों की चरण-धूलि के सहारे ही जीवित है।॥ ४॥ २॥ २३॥
