ਮਾਤ ਗਰਭ ਦੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੋ ਪਿਆਰੇ

English Translation

Sorath Mahala 5th ( Maat Garbh Dukh Sagro Pyare ) O beloved Lord! You had imbued us with the love of Your True Name even in the mother's womb, which was like a tortuous ocean, and then protected us through Your Grace.

O dear beloved (Lord)! As soon as we were (born) brought out of the mother's womb, human beings get engrossed in the love of the poison of worldly pleasures and vices, thus we got enamored by the love of this worldly falsehood. O, Lord! But whosoever is bestowed with Your Grace, is united with the perfect Guru.
O, True Master! Such a person then recites Your True Name (with each breath) all the time, being imbued with the love of the Lord. (1)

O, beloved Lord! I have Your support only in my body (heart) and soul and my body and mind is sustained in this world through Your support only. O, beloved Lord! There is none other than You, who controls and is the cause of everything, as You alone know the failings of each individual, being omniscient. (Pause)

O, beloved Lord! This human being has been bestowed with this human form after passing through many forms of life in the cycle of births and deaths. O, Lord! If this man were to forsake Your True Name even now, then he would have to face all sufferings as punishment. Whosoever is united with the perfect Guru, gets imbued with the love of True Name. We could also get away from the cycle of births and deaths by taking refuge at the lotus feet of those persons who have sought Your support. (2)

O, beloved Lord! The worldly pleasures, which we were enjoying, considering them as (sweet) pleasant, later on, proved to be the precursors of body afflictions and maladies. All those joys and sorrows have appeared just the opposite of what we had thought, thus producing suffering for us. O, beloved Lord! The persons, who have forsaken the Lord while enjoying worldly pleasures, remain separated from the Lord forever whereas the persons, who have been enabled by You to cross this ocean successfully through the Guru's guidance were fortunate enough and pre-destined by the Lord's Will from the very beginning to attain the Lord's love, through Your Grace. (3)

O, beloved Lord! The person, who is engrossed in the love of worldly falsehood, can never develop the love of the Lord in their heart.

O, True Master! The body of the persons, who have forgotten the Lord, is mingled with the dust but they could never find relief from their sufferings notwithstanding their wailings and cries for help. O beloved Lord! On the other hand, the Guru-minded persons, who have purified themselves through the Guru's guidance have attained the ideal of life, in getting united with You. (have led a fruitful life). (4)

O beloved Lord! So far it is possible, we should avoid the company of those persons, who are engrossed in the love of the (Maya) worldly falsehood. O, Lord! Such faithless persons, whose company takes us away from the Lord's love and devotion, proceed from this world with (blackened faces) disgrace to face the punishment of Yama (the god of death). Such self-willed persons do not find any respect in the presence of the holy saints and have to face disgust and punishment in the Lord's presence. O, Lord! The Guru-minded persons, however, who have lived a fruitful life by reciting Lord's True Name through the Guru's guidance, are received with honor in the Lord's presence as their worship and service are accepted by the Lord. (5)

O beloved Lord! The persons, who are used to their clever moves and deceitful actions in this life, do not benefit from any of these moves in the next world and such persons bring disgrace to their family and clan, having turned away from the worship and service of the Lord. O, Lord! These persons, having developed love of this transient and unreal (perishable) body, have never realized the value and efficacy of the Lord's True Name and are always engrossed in the love of worldly falsehood. However, the persons, who have been united with the True Guru, have attained the Lord's True Name and enjoyed a blissful life. (6)

O beloved Lord! The persons, who are blessed with Your Grace and favors, inculcate the virtues of knowledge, truth, contentment, and love of the Lord in their hearts and cross this ocean of life successfully by singing the praises of the Lord and reciting True Name; along with many other colleagues. They have attained salvation and crossed this tortuous ocean. O beloved Lord! The persons, whose service and love have been accepted by the Lord, are united by the Lord with Himself and proceed with flying colors to the Lord's presence; being acclaimed as True devotees. (7)

O beloved Lord! The holy saints always depend on Your support as You are all powerful and their greatest benefactor. Let us seek refuge at the lotus feet of the Lord, who knows our inner feelings, and beings omniscient. O, Lord! The persons who were fortunate enough, pre-destined by the Lord's Will, have been honored in this world and the next. O, Nanak! May I never forsake the True Master, our Lord- benefactor! I always offer myself as a sacrifice (surrender myself completely) to the beloved Lord, (who has blessed me with His Grace). (8-2)

सोरठ महला ५ ॥ माता का गर्भ भी दुःख-तकलीफों का गहरा सागर है लेकिन हे प्यारे प्रभु ! वहाँ भी तूने अपने नाम का ही जाप करवाया है। जब माता के गर्भ से जीव बाहर निकला तो उसके भीतर मोह-माया का विष फैल गया। हे प्यारे प्रभु ! जिस पर तूने अपनी कृपा की, उसे पूर्ण गुरु से मिला दिया। गुरु से साक्षात्कार करके वह अपने श्वास-श्वास आराधना करता है और उसकी सुरति राम-नाम से लगा दी॥ १॥

हे प्रभु ! हमारे मन एवं तन में तेरा ही सहारा है। तेरे सिवाय अन्य कोई सृजनहार नहीं और एक तू ही अन्तर्यामी है॥ रहाउ॥

हे प्यारे ! जीव करोड़ों ही जन्मों में भटकने एवं अनेक योनियों में कष्ट सहन करके इस दुनिया में आता है। जब जीव सच्चे परमेश्वर को भुला देता है तो उसे कठोर दण्ड मिलता है। लेकिन जिनकी पूर्ण सतगुरु से भेंट हो जाती है, वे सत्य नाम में तल्लीन हो जाते हैं। हे प्यारे ! जो लोग सत्य की शरण में आते हैं, उनका अनुसरण करते हुए हम भी मुक्ति प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।॥ २॥

हे प्यारे ! मनुष्य लौकिक पदार्थों को मीठा समझते हुए खाता है, लेकिन वह तो शरीर में रोग ही उत्पन्न कर देता है। फिर यह कड़वा होकर निकलता है और जिससे शोक ही उत्पन्न होता है। हे प्यारे प्रभु ! तूने जीव को सांसारिक भोगों का लुत्फ प्राप्त करने में भटकाया हुआ है और इससे उसकी वियोग की दूरी खत्म नहीं होती है। हे प्यारे ! जिनका गुरु के मिलन से उद्धार हो गया है, उनका ऐसा ही संयोग लिखा था ॥ ३॥

हे प्रभु ! मनुष्य तो धन-दौलत के लालच में ही भरा हुआ है और उसके चित्त में तू कदापि स्मरण नहीं होता। हे परब्रह्म-परमेश्वर ! जो तुझे भुला देते हैं, उनका शरीर धूल बन जाता है। वे बहुत रोते-चिल्लाते हैं किन्तु उनकी पीड़ा निवृत्त नहीं होती। हे प्यारे ! गुरु से मिलाकर तूने जिनका जीवन संवार दिया है, उनका मूल बरकरार रह गया है॥ ४॥

हे प्यारे मित्र ! जहाँ तक मुमकिन हो सके भगवान से विमुख मनुष्य की संगति मत करो। जिस विमुख को मिलकर भगवान ही भूल जाता है, फिर कुसंग के कारण मनुष्य तिरस्कृत होकर संसार से चला जाता है। हे प्यारे ! मनमुख व्यक्तियों को तो कहीं भी शरण नहीं मिलती और उन्हें भगवान के दरबार में कठोर दण्ड ही प्राप्त होता है। जो लोग गुरु से मिलकर अपना जीवन संवार लेते हैं, उनके सभी कार्य संवर जाते हैं।॥ ५॥

हे प्यारे ! जीवन में यदि कोई व्यक्ति हजारों ही युक्तियाँ एवं चतुराईयों का प्रयोग भी क्यों न कर ले किन्तु एक भी युक्ति एवं चतुराई उसका साथ नहीं देती। जो परमात्मा से विमृख हो जाते हैं, उनका वंश ही कलंकित हो जाता है। हे प्यारे ! जो सदैव नाम रूपी वस्तु है, उसे व्यक्ति जानता ही नहीं और झूठ उसके किसी काम नहीं आने वाला। हे प्यारे ! ईश्वर जिसे सतगुरु से मिला देता है, वह सत्य नाम का ही चिंतन करता रहता है॥ ६॥

हे प्यारे ! जिस पर वह अपनी कृपा-दृष्टि करता है, उसे सत्यं, संतोष, ज्ञान एवं ध्यान की प्राप्ति हो जाती है। फिर वह रात-दिन भगवान का ही गुणगान करता रहता है और उसका हृदय नामामृत से भरपूर हो जाता है। वह जीवन के दु:खों के सागर से पार होकर भवसागर से भी पार हो जाता है। हे प्यारे प्रभु! जिसे तू पसंद करता है, उसे अपने साथ मिला लेता है और वे सदैव ही सत्यवादी एवं भले हैं।॥७॥

हे प्यारे ! ईश्वर सर्वशक्तिमान, सर्वव्यापी, दीन-दयालु एवं ज्योतिर्मय है और भक्तों को तो उसका ही सहारा है। जो बड़ा अन्तर्यामी एवं दक्ष है, भक्त उसकी शरण में ही पड़े रहते हैं। हे प्यारे ! भगवान ने तो हमारा लोक-परलोक ही संवार दिया है और मस्तक पर सत्य का चिन्ह अंकित कर दिया है। हे प्यारे ! वह प्रभु कदापि विस्मृत न हो चूंकि नानक तो सदा ही उस पर कुर्बान जाता है ॥ ८॥ २॥

Punjabi Translation

ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ (ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ) । ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ। ਤੈਥੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਰਥਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ (ਭਾਈ) ! ਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੇਟ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਾਇਆ (ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ) । ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੇਟ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ (ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਕੇ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਜੀਵ ਵਾਸਤੇ, ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਮੁਕਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਜ਼ਹਰ ਖਿਲਾਰ ਰੱਖੀ (ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਵਧਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਲਗਨ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹਾਰ ਕੇ, ਕ੍ਰੋੜਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਟਕ ਕੇ (ਜੀਵ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਵਿਚ) ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਪਰ ਇੱਥੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ) ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਨਿਆਂ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ।੨। To Keep continue reading Punjabi translation, please download the PDF File given below:
