Vadhans Mahala - 3rd ( Gurmukh Sab Vapaar Bhala )
O, Brother! The worldly functions and chores of the Guru-minded persons, who recite the Lord's True Name in the state of 'Equipoise', are accepted as worthwhile. They are engaged in meditating on True Name day and night and then enjoy the bliss of the nectar of True Name in the form of their profit from their business in life. Such Guru-minded persons are busy reciting Lord's True Name day and night, thus enjoying the bliss of the nectar of True Name. They go on collecting all the virtues while casting away all their flaws and shortcomings; then they attain self-realization and a peep into their real self. They are received with honor in the Lord's presence by following the Guru's guidance and the Guru's message, thus enjoying the bliss of the Lord's love. O Nanak! The worship of the Lord is really wonderful and only a few Guru-minded persons enjoy its bliss by meditating on Lord's True Name. (1)

O, Brother! The Guru-minded persons sow the seeds of the Lord's True Name in their hearts and then they enjoy the Lord's True Name within their inner selves as the crop-produce of this farming activity in the human body. So let us enjoy the bliss of True Name in our hearts in this world and then benefit from it in the next world as well. Blessed is the business and farming of the person, who gets the benefit of this farming business by inculcating the love of the Lord in his heart! Such a person recites the Lord's True Name, inculcates it in his heart, and then contemplates (on Lord's True Name) on the Guru's Word. However, the self-willed person gets tired of dealing in this farming business but his burning desire for worldly possessions is never satiated. O Nanak! The Guru-minded persons win the honor and acceptance of the Lord by sowing the seed of True Name in their hearts and then contemplating the Guru's message. (2)

O, Brother! Only those Guru-minded persons, (who are), lucky enough and blessed with the jewel of good fortune on their foreheads, are engaged in the business of the Lord's love and devotion. Then the mind of the Guru-minded person, through the Guru's guidance, gets stabilized in its true self and attains detachment from the world by contemplating on Guru's Word and remaining aloof from worldly falsehood. Such persons, who are fortunate enough and pre-destined by Lord's Will, remain immersed in the Lord's True Name, being in a state of detachment. The Guru-minded persons have curbed their egoism through the Guru's guidance, as the whole world is behaving in a stupid manner without having recourse to Lord's True Name. The Guru-minded persons attain the protection of the Lord-Spouse by reciting their True Name; and by improving their mental caliber, through an understanding of the True Word.
O Nanak! The Guru-minded persons, fortunate enough and pre-destined by Lord's Will, enjoy the bliss of life in the company of holy saints, through the Guru's Word and have freed themselves of the fear complex of death by reciting the Lord's True Name. (3)

O, Brother! The Guru-minded persons perform all these functions of farming (sowing seeds of Name or business in life in accordance with the Lord's Will; whosoever has accepted the Will of the Lord, are honored in this world. These persons have understood the Lord's ordains through the Guru's instructions and finally merge with Him as per Lord's Will. Whosoever has endeared himself to the Lord's Will, has his heart inculcated with peace, uniting with the Lord finally. Then such a person has accepted Lord's message as noble and worthy which has been attained from the Guru, who is the protector of all. The persons, who have rid themselves of their egoism, have attained the Lord-destroyer, of ego, and then concentrated on the Guru's teachings in the company of holy saints. O Nanak! The Guru-minded person has attained the True Name of the Lord, who is limitless, beyond our comprehension, free from the effects of worldly falsehood (Maya), and beyond the access of our senses. He has led a successful life by following Lord's Will and has completely engrossed himself in the Will of the Lord. (4-2)

ਵਡਹੰਸ ਤੀਜੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ।

ਜੇਕਰ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ-ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਤਾਂ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਣਜ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ ।
ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਸੁਧਾਰਸ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਨਫਾ ਕਮਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਰੈਣ ਦਿਹੁੰ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਉਹ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਉਹ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਤ੍ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਬਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰ੍ਹੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਐਕੁਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪਰਮ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਸਚਰਜ ਹੈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਮਈ ਸੇਵਾ । ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਥੋੜੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਫਸਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹ ਦੀ ਪੈਲੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੀਜ ਤੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ।
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਰਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣ ਲਵੇਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੀ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾਵੇਗਾ ।
ਸੁਲੱਖਣੀ ਹੈ ਵਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਦਾਗਰੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਣ ਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਾਭ ਉਠਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਟਿਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਮਨਮੱਤੀ ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਵਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਵਪਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਰ ਗਏ ਹਨ । ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰੇਹ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਦਿਆਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਿਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਬੀ ਬੀਜ, ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਸ਼ੋਭਤ ਹੋ ।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਵੇਹਰ ਜੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸੁਦਾਗਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੁਟਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜ ਦੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਸੱਚੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
ਆਪਣੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਦੀ ਪਰਮ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਪ੍ਰਾਲਭਧ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਣ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੱਚੀ ਉਪਰਾਮਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਗੈਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਝੱਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ । ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਬੰਦੇ ਦੀ ਹੰਗਤਾ ਮਿੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਯਥਾਰਥ ਸਮਝ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਪਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਸੁਆਣੀ ਡਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਦੀ ਕਿਸਮਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ ।

ਸਾਰੀ ਵਾਹੀ ਤੇ ਵਪਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਰਜਾ ਸਵੀਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ । ਉਸ ਦੀ ਰਜਾ ਮੰਨਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ ।
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਫਰਮਾਨ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਫੁਰਮਾਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਪਰਮ ਉਤਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ।
ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸੱਚੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰਿਆਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਆਪਣੀ ਸਵੈ-ਹੰਗਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਆ ਕੇ, ਆਦਮੀ ਡਰ ਦੇ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਾਧ ਹਾਕਮ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਰਮਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ।

वडहंस महला ३ ॥ गुरुमुख बनकर सभी व्यापार भले हैं, यदि ये सहज अवस्था द्वारा किए जाएँ। हर समय परमात्मा के नाम का जाप करना चाहिए और हरि रस को पान करने का लाभ प्राप्त करना चाहिए। हरि-रस का लाभ प्राप्त करना चाहिए, हरि का सुमिरन करना चाहिए और रात-दिन नाम का चिंतन करते रहना चाहिए। जो व्यक्ति गुणों का संग्रह करता है और अवगुणों को मिटा देता है; इस तरह वह अपने आत्मस्वरूप को पहचान लेता है। वह गुरु की मति द्वारा नाम रूपी बड़ी शोभा पा लेता है और सच्चे शब्द द्वारा हरि-रस का पान करता रहता है। हे नानक ! हरि की भक्ति बड़ी विलक्षण है और कोई विरला गुरुमुख ही भक्ति करता है॥ १॥

गुरुमुख बनकर अपने अन्तर्मन में परमेश्वर रूपी खेती बोनी चाहिए और अपने शरीर में नाम रूपी बीज उगाना चाहिए। इस तरह तुम अपने हृदय-घर में ही हरि के नाम रस को चख लोगो और परलोक में भी इसका लाभ प्राप्त करोगे। हरि-परमेश्वर को अपने अन्तर्मन में बसाने की खेती एवं व्यापार धन्य है, जिस द्वारा परलोक में लाभ होता है। जो व्यक्ति हरि-नाम का ध्यान करता है और इसे अपने मन में बसाता है, वह गुरु के उपदेश को समझ लेता है। मनमुख प्राणी सांसारिक मोह-माया की खेती एवं व्यापार करके थक गए हैं और उनकी तृष्णा एवं भूख दूर नहीं होती। हे नानक ! अपने मन के भीतर परमात्मा के नाम का बीज बोया कर और सच्चे शब्द द्वारा शोभायमान हो जा॥ २ ॥

वही लोग हरि-परमेश्वर के नाम-व्यापार में सक्रिय हैं, जिनके माथे पर सौभाग्य की मणि उदय होती है। गुरु-उपदेश द्वारा मन अपने मूल घर प्रभु-चरणों में बसता है और सच्चे शब्द के माध्यम से मोह-माया से निर्लिप्त हो जाता है। जिनके मुख-मस्तक पर भाग्य उदय हो जाते हैं, वही सच्चे बैराग को प्राप्त होते हैं और वही विचारवान सच्चे नाम में लीन हो जाते हैं। हरि-नाम बिना सारी दुनिया मोह-माया में फँसकर बावली हो रही है और शब्द द्वारा ही अहंकार का नाश होता है। सत्यनाम में लीन होने से सुमति उत्पन्न होती है और गुरु के माध्यम से हरि-नाम रूपी सुहाग मिल जाता है। हे नानक ! शब्द द्वारा ही भय का नाश करने वाला हरि मिलता है और जीवात्मा मस्तक के भाग्य द्वारा ही उससे रमण करती है॥ ३॥

भगवान के हुक्म को स्वीकार करना उत्तम खेती एवं सर्वोत्तम व्यापार है, हुक्म को स्वीकार करने से मान-सम्मान मिलता है। गुरु की मति द्वारा ही परमात्मा के हुक्म को समझा जाता है और उसके हुक्म द्वारा ही प्रभु से मिलन होता है। परमात्मा के हुक्म में ही जीव सहजता से उसमें विलीन हो जाता है। गुरु का शब्द अपरम्पार है, (क्योंकि)" गुरु के द्वारा ही सच्ची वड़ाई प्राप्त होती है और मनुष्य सत्य से सुशोभित हो जाता है। जीव अपना अहंत्व मिटाकर भयनाशक परमात्मा को प्राप्त कर लेता है और गुरु के माध्यम से ही उसका मिलन होता है। नानक का कथन है कि परमात्मा का पावन नाम अगम्य एवं अगोचर है और यह उसके हुक्म में ही समा रहा है॥ ४॥ २॥
