English Translation

( Naam Gur Dio Hai Apnai... )

O, Brother! The persons, who are rather fortunate, being predestined by the Lord's Will, have been bestowed with the boon of True Name by the Lord. The Lord has made them realize how to recite True Name along with its value and importance in the World so that they have recited only True Name by inculcating its love in the heart during this age (of Kaliyuga). (1)

The Lord has bestowed honor and status to such persons by imparting them the nectar of True Name, which brings them honor and acclaim even in the next world. Such persons always accept with pleasure the dictates of the Lord as per His Will and spend this life following the Lord's Will without a murmur. (Pause-1)

O, Nanak! The person, who has attained the wealth of True Name, is truly wealthy and rich as he then deals in the merchandise of True Name alone in the business of life, having the support of True Name only. Thus he has made a success of this life by earning the profit (in business) by reciting True Name. (2-6-37)

धनासरी महला ५ ॥ नामु गुरि दीओ है अपुनै जा कै मसतकि करमा ॥ नामु द्रिड़ावै नामु जपावै ता का जुग महि धरमा ॥१॥ जन कउ नामु वडाई सोभ ॥ नामो गति नामो पति जन की मानै जो जो होग ॥१॥ रहाउ॥ नाम धनु जिसु जन कै पालै सोई पूरा साहा ॥ नामु बिउहारा नानक आधारा नामु परापति लाहा ॥२॥६॥३७॥

धनासरी महला ५ ॥ जिसके माथे पर शुभ भाग्य है, गुरु ने अपने उस सेवक को नाम ही प्रदान किया है। इस युग में गुरु का यही धर्म है कि वह अपने सेवकों को नाम का जाप करवाता है और नाम ही उनके मन में दृढ़ करता है॥१॥

प्रभु के दास के लिए नाम ही उसकी बड़ाई है और नाम ही उसकी शोभा है। परमात्मा का नाम ही उसकी मुक्ति है और नाम ही उसकी लाज-प्रतिष्ठा है।जो कुछ भी ईश्वरेच्छा में होता है, वह उसे भला ही समझता है॥ १॥ रहाउ॥

जिस व्यक्ति के पास नाम का धन है, वही पूर्ण साहूकार है। हे नानक ! प्रभु का नाम ही उस मनुष्य का व्यवसाय है, नाम का ही उसे सहारा है और वह नाम रूपी लाभ ही प्राप्त करता है॥ २ ॥ ६ ॥ ३७ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹੀ) ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੈ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੈ। ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੇਵਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਸਿਰ-ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ) ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਗ (ਜਾਗ ਪਏ) ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਫਿਰ) ਸਦਾ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਇਹ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕਰਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਜਪਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਪਾਸ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਾਹੂਕਾਰ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਅਸਲੀ ਵਿਹਾਰ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਸਰਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਖੱਟੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।੬।੩੭।
