English Translation

Suhi Mahala -1 ( Jin Kau Bhande Bhau Tina Swarsi... )

O, Brother! The persons, who have inculcated the love of the Lord in their (utensil of) hearts, will be protected and sustained with honor by the Lord with the blessings of a blissful life and ridding them of all afflictions. There is not an iota of doubt that such persons will be enabled to cross this ocean of life successfully. (1)

The persons, who are fortunate enough, being pre-destined by Lord's Will, have been united with the Guru, thus they are blessed with a glimpse of the Lord (Lord's Vision) through the bestowing of the nectar of True Name to the Gursikhs. Such persons then follow the Lord's Will (with pleasure) and are saved from going through the cycle of Rebirths. (2)

O, Brother! The Guru-minded persons, who have perceived the Lord's glimpse (Vision), do not worship or pay obeisance to any other gods or goddesses. The persons, who are awakened to the recitation of True Name (as a watchman) will not be required to account for their doings (actions in the world). The Guru-minded persons, blessed by the Lord's Grace, help others through their noble and nectar-like Words to attain salvation. (3)

The Lord only creates Man in this world and then takes him away (to the next world) through death as the Lord functions automatically without anyone else's consultation, as He is completely free to dictate and there is none else to advise Him. The Lord alone creates and then destroys all the beings, and He. alone knows His secrets (of creation). O Nanak! The Lord blesses us with His True Name when He is pleased to bestow His Grace on us. ( 4-3-5)

जा कउ महल हजूर दूजे निवै किस ॥ दर दरवाणी नाहि मूले पुछ तिस ॥ छुटै ता कै बोल साहिब नदर जिस ॥३॥

सूही महला १ ॥ जिनके हृदय रूपी बर्तन में परमात्मा के लिए प्रेम है, वह उन्हें सुन्दर बना देता है। वह अपनी कृपा करके उन्हें सुखी कर देता है और उनके दुख भुला देता है। इस बात में बिल्कुल ही कोई संशय नहीं है कि परमात्मा उन्हें जरूर ही भवसागर से तार देता है। १॥

जिनकी किस्मत में लिखा हुआ था, गुरु उन्हें आकर मिल गया है। हरि का अमृत नाम वह उन्हें दीक्षा में देता है। | जो व्यक्ति सतिगुरु की आज्ञानुसार चलते हैं, वे भिक्षा के लिए नहीं भटकते॥ २॥

जिसे रहने के लिए परमात्मा का महल मेिल गया है, यह किसी दूसरे के समक्ष क्यों झुकेगा ? प्रभु के द्वार के द्वारपाल उससे बिल्कुल ही कोई पूछताछ नहीं करते। जिस पर परमात्मा की कृपा-दृष्टि होती है, उसके वचन से वह जन्म-मरण से छूट जाता है॥ ३॥

जिसे कोई दूसरा उपदेश देने वाला नहीं है, वह स्वयं ही प्राणियों को दुनिया में भेजता है और फिर वापिस बुला लेता है। वह स्वयं ही दुनिया को तबाह करके बनाता है और खुद ही सब कुछ बनाना जानता है। हे नानक ! परमात्मा उसे ही नाम की देन देता है, जिस पर उसकी कृपा-दृष्टि होती है॥ ४॥ ३॥ ५॥

(ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ) ਨੂੰ (ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਰੂਪ) ਭਾਂਡੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ (ਦੀ ਭਿੱਛਿਆ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ) , (ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੋਹਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਸੁਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੁਲਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਵਿਚ ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਿ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ (ਧੁਰੋਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਦਾ) ਲੇਖ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਆ ਕੇ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ (ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ (ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ) ਭਟਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਿਰਦੇ।੨।

(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ) ਜਿਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਥਾਂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਤਰਲੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ; ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਤੇ (ਪਹੁੰਚੇ ਹੋਏ ਨੂੰ ਜਮ ਆਦਿਕ) ਦਰਬਾਨਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ ਪੁੱਛ-ਗਿੱਛ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੇ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨ ਵਿਚ (ਚੱਲ ਕੇ) ਉਹ ਬੰਦਾ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਮੁਕਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਜਿਸ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੱਤਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਭੇਜਦਾ ਹੈ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਸੱਦ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ-ਰਚਨਾ ਢਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਵਜੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੩।੫।
