English Translation

Suhi Mahala· 4 ( Jin Kai Antar Vasia Mera Har Har ) O, Brother! The persons, who are imbued with the love of the Lord, cast away all their ills and sufferings. The persons, who have recited Lord's True Name, have been saved from going through the cycle of births and deaths, as they have attained the bliss of the Lord's unison, the state of Equipoise. (1)

O, beloved Lord! The slaves (disciples) of the Lord have got rid of their sufferings. The Guru-minded persons, who have recited Lord's True Name, by listening to and following the Guru's teachings (guidance), have been rid of their afflictions of egoism and dual-mindedness. (Pause -1)

O, Brother! Even the great gods like Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu, in control of the three-pronged Maya (lust for power~ greed and peace), have not escaped from the effects of egoism, as the creation of the universe has been based on this ego or engrossed in worldly falsehood. The Lord, who had created this universe (the beings) including the god Brahma, is never remembered by them, whereas the Guru-minded persons have been enabled to realize the value of reciting True Name. (2)

O, Brother! The whole world is engrossed in the malady of egoism as all the beings, who are (suffering from) involved in the love of ego and worldly attachments, are suffering the pangs of the cycle of Rebirths. Very few persons (hardly any person), through the Guru's Grace, have escaped from the malady of egoism. I would offer myself as a sacrifice to such a person, who has got rid of this affliction (of egoism). (3)

O, Nanak! The Lord alone, who has created this universe, knows the system of working or functioning of this worldly drama,. but His Greatness and vastness are beyond our comprehension, being limitless. He is too great and too deep for a probe by us. The Lord feels thrilled by watching His own creation (of beings). There are no other means of remembering and meditating on the Lord except through the Guru's guidance. (4- 3 - 14)

सूही महला ४ ॥ जिनके मन में मेरा परमात्मा बस गया है, उनके सब रोग दूर हो गए हैं। जिन्होंने हरि-नाम का ध्यान किया है, वे मुक्त हो गए हैं और उन्होंने पवित्र परमपद पा लिया है॥१॥ हे मेरे राम ! भक्तजन अहम् एवं दुखों से आरोग्य हो गए हैं। जिन्होंने गुरु के वचन द्वारा परमात्मा का नाम जपा है, उनके अहंत्व के रोग दूर हो गए हैं।॥ १॥ रहाउ॥

ब्रह्मा, विष्णु एवं शिवशंकर माया के त्रिगुणों-रजोगुण, तमोगुण एवं सतोगुण के रोगी हैं और वे अहंत्व में ही कार्य करते हैं। जिस परमैत्मा ने उन्हें पैदा किया है, वे बैचारे उसे याद ही हीं करते। परमात्मा की सूझ गुरु द्वारा ही मिलती है॥ २॥

समूचा जगत् अहंत्व के रोग में फँसा हुआ है और उन्हें जन्म-मरण का भारी दुख लगा रहता है। कोई विरला पुरुष ही इससे छूटता है और मैं उस पर बलिहारी जाता हूँ॥ ३॥ जिसने यह सृष्टि-रचना की है, वह हरि स्वयं ही इस तथ्य को जानता है और उस का रूप अपार है। हे नानक ! ईश्वर अपनी सृष्टि को देखकरस्वयं प्रसन्न होता है, यह ब्रह्म ज्ञान गुरु द्वारा ही प्राप्त होता है॥ ४ ॥ ३ ॥ १४ ॥

[ Jin Kai Antar Vasia Mera Har Har ] ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ਦੇ, ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ, ਦਾਸ (ਹਉਮੈ ਆਦਿਕ ਤੋਂ) ਨਰੋਏ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਉਮੈ (ਆਦਿਕ) ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਰਾ ਹਰਿ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਰੋਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ, ਉਹ (ਹਉਮੈ ਆਦਿਕ ਰੋਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਤੰਤਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ ਤੇ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ।੧।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੱਸੀਆਂ ਸਾਖੀਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ (ਵੱਡੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ) ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ, ਵਿਸ਼ਨੂੰ, ਸ਼ਿਵ (ਭੀ) ਰੋਗੀ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਭੀ) ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ। ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਚੇਤਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਰਹੇ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ (ਤਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆਂ ਹੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੨।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਾਰਾ ਜਗਤ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਦਾ ਭਾਰਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਇਸ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ (ਅਜੇਹੇ) ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਰੋਗ ਨੂੰ) ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ (ਤੇ, ਦੂਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ) । ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਰੂਪ ਹੱਦ ਬੰਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੀ ਰਚੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ) ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੪।੩।੧੪।
