1. English Translation

Suhi Mahala- 4 ( Har Har Naam Bhajeo Purkhotam )

O, Brother! By reciting the Lord's True Name, all our sins and lethargic tendencies are cast away and the fear of the Yama or the cycle of births and deaths is also got rid of, through the Guru's Word and guidance. Now we are enjoying eternal bliss by inculcating the love of the ever-existent Lord. (1)

O, my mind! Let us imbibe the love of the nectar of the Lord's True Name in our hearts, which is so charming. I have surrendered my body and soul to the Guru, and have exchanged this life even, at a very high rate of exchange, with the invaluable True Name of the Lord. (Pause)

The persons, who enjoy worldly pleasures, being the kings or masters of men, have been caught by the Yama, god of death, as they were devoid of the True Name. Such persons were seen repenting on being punished by the god of justice, Dharam Raj, due to their sinful actions in life. Now nothing could be done as they have to face the consequences of their sins. (2)

O, Lord! We are Your slaves like the small worms. May we be protected with Your protective Hand! O, Lord- benefactor and our Sustainer! May we be blessed with the company of Your holy saints to enjoy (worldly comforts)the bliss of life. O, True Master! Pray to fulfill our desires as we are Your slaves·! (3)

O, Nanak! May the Lord Almighty, the Greatest and highest Prime Male, the Creator bless us with His glimpse (of His Vision) O, Lord! I would offer myself as a sacrifice to the nectar of Your True Name. May we be bestowed with Your True Name, so as to enjoy eternal bliss! (4- 2)

( Har Har Naam Bhajeo Purkhotam ) ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅੱਤ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਮਹਿੰਗੇ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਵੱਟੇ ਵੇਚ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਇਵਜ਼ ਕੀਮਤੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਲੈ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ) ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਹਰੀ ਉੱਤਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਨੂੰ ਜਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਦਰਿੱਦ੍ਰ, ਦਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਲ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਡਰ ਭੀ ਮੁਕਾ ਲਿਆ। ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।੧।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ) ਰੰਗ ਰਸ ਮਾਣਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਡੰਡਾ ਵੱਜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਦੋਂ ਪਛਤਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ! ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ (ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ) ਨਿਮਾਣੇ ਜੀਵ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਹਾਂ, ਦਾਸ ਦੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ, ਇਸ ਦਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ (ਤਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਦਾਸ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਸਕੇ।੩।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਹੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਤੂੰ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਤਾਕਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਪੁਰਖ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਦੇਹ। ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-) ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹਾਂ।੪।੨।

4. Hukamnama in Hindi

सूही महला ४ ॥ ( Har Har Naam Bhajeo Purkhotam ) पुरुषोत्तम परमेश्वर के नाम का भजन किया है, जिससे सारी दरिद्रता मेिट गई है। गुरु के शब्द द्वारा मैंने जन्म-मरण का भय मिटा दिया है और प्रभु की सेवा करके सुख में लीन हो गया हूँ॥ १॥

हे मेरे मन! अत्यंत प्यारे राम नाम का भजन करो। मैंने अपना मन एवं तन अर्पण करके गुरु के समक्ष रख दिया है और मैंने अपना सिर बेचकर राम नाम बहुत महंगे मूल्य लिया है॥ १॥ रहाउ ॥

नरपति राजे माया के रंग-रस में मग्न होकर सुख तो भोगते हैं लेकिन नाम के बिना उन सब को यम पकड़ कर ले जाता है। जब यमराज उनके सिर पर डण्डा लगाता है तो फिर वे पछताते हैं। इस तरह उन्हें अपने हाथों से किए कर्मो का फल मिलता है॥ २॥

हे हरि! मेरी रक्षा करो, मैं तो तेरा तुच्छ सेवक हूँ। मैं तेरी शरण में आया हूँ। मुझे अपने संतों के दर्शन दीजिए ताकि मैं सुख पाऊँ। हे पालनहार प्रभु ! मेरी अभिलाषा पूरी करो, मैं तुम्हारा ही सेवक हूँ॥ ३॥

हे मेरे स्वामी प्रभु! तू सर्वकला समर्थ एवं बड़ा पुरुष है। मुझे निमेष भर के लिए हरि नाम का दान कीजिए। हे नानक ! यदि नाम मिल जाए तो मैं सुख प्राप्त करूँ। मैं हमेशा ही नाम पर कुर्बान जाता हूँ॥ ४॥ २ ॥
