1. English Translation

Tilang Mahala Pehla Ghar Teeja Ik onkar satgur prasad ( Eh Tan Maya Pahia Pyare )
"By the Grace of the Lord-Sublime, Truth personified & attainable through the Guru's guidance."

O beloved Lord Spouse! How could this human being become worthy of Your embrace? (like the woman deserving the embrace of her spouse).
How could this man enjoy the bliss of unison with the Lord- Spouse, when he is engrossed and enamored by the love of vices like greed and is full of pride and ego with such sinful actions like the cloth getting stiff with the application of starch, and is disliked by my True Master?
O Lord-benefactor! I would offer myself as a sacrifice to You and even to Your holy saints, who are engaged in reciting Your True Name. O, Lord! I would offer my life even to those holy saints, (surrender myself) who always remember You through the recitation of True Name. (Pause - 1)

O Lord, my dear friend! If you were to bestow me with Your Grace, then I would imbibe the love of the True Lord and dye myself with the fast color of True Name like the Majeeth (madder dye), which would be ever-lasting, and enjoy the bliss of His unison, provided the Lord were to bless me with the spiritual bliss of His True Name (which would dye my body in the hue of His love) which would enchant me completely. (2)

O, Lord! The fact remains, that the persons imbued with the love of the Lord's True Name always enjoy the company of the Lord, like the wedded woman in the company of her spouse, and their body and soul are always immersed in His True Name. O Nanak! My only supplication to the Lord is that I may be bestowed with the dust of the lotus feet of His holy saints, so that I may be purified to lead a fruitful life. (3)

O, Brother! The Lord is our creator, who through His Grace, blesses us with the light of knowledge and imparts the love of His True Name after creating human beings (inculcates the love of True Name in our hearts) but this is possible only when He bestows His benevolence on us. O Nanak! When this human being is accepted by You, winning Your pleasure, then he gets merged with You, like the woman enjoying the conjugal bliss of her spouse by winning His love. (4-1-3)

2. Hukamnama in Hindi

तिलंग महला १ घर ३
ੴ सतगुर प्रसाद ॥
इह तन माया पाहिआ प्यारे लीतड़ा लब रंगाए ॥
मेरै कंत न भावै चोलड़ा प्यारे क्यों धन सेजै जाए ॥१॥
हौं कुरबानै जाओं मिहरवाना हौं कुरबानै जाओं ॥
हौं कुरबानै जाओं तिना कै लैन जो तेरा नाऔं ॥
लैन जो तेरा नाऔं तिना कै हौं सद कुरबानै जाओं ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
काया रंगण जे थीऐ प्यारे पाईऐ नाऔं मजीठ ॥
रंगण वाला जे रंगै साहिब ऐसा रंग न डीठ ॥२॥
जिन के चोले रतड़े प्यारे कंत तिना कै पास ॥
धूड़ तिना की जे मिलै जी कहु नानक की अरदास ॥३॥
आपे साजे आपे रंगे आपे नदर करेए ॥

तिलंग महला १ घरु २
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

हे मेरे प्यारे ! मेरा यह तन रूपी चोला माया की लाग से लग गया है और मैंने इसे लालच रूपी रंग में रंग लिया है।
इसलिए मेरा यह तन रूपी चोला मेरे पति-प्रभु को अच्छा नहीं लगता, मैं उसकी सेज पर कैसे जाऊँ ?॥ १॥

हे मेहरबान मालिक ! मैं कुर्बान जाता हूँ।
मैं सदैव ही उन पर कुर्बान जाता हूँ जो तेरा नाम लेते हैं।
जो तेरा नाम हैं, उन पर मैं सदा कुर्बान हूँ॥ १॥ रहाउ॥

हे मेरे प्यारे ! यदि यह काया ललारी की भट्टी बन जाए और उसमें नाम रूपी मजीठ डाला जाए।
यदि रंगने वाला मेरा मालिक स्वयं मेरे तन रूपी चोले को रंगे तो उसे ऐसा सुन्दर रंग चढ़ जाता है, जो पहले कभी देखा नहीं होता।॥ २॥

हे प्यारे ! जिन जीव-स्त्रियों के तन रूपी चोले नाम रूपी रंग में रंगे हुए हैं, उनका पति-प्रभु सर्वदा उनके साथ रहता है।
नानक की प्रार्थना है कि मुझे उनकी चरण-धूलि मिल जाए॥ ३॥
प्रभु स्वयं ही जीव-स्त्रियों को पैदा करता है, स्वयं ही उन्हें नाम रूपी रंग में रगता है और स्वयं ही उन पर अपनी कृपा दृष्टि करता है।
हे नानक ! जब जीव-स्त्री अपने पति-प्रभु को अच्छी लगने लगती है तो वह स्वयं ही उससे आनंद करता है॥ ४ ॥ १॥ ३ ॥

ਤਿਲੰਕ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ ॥
ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ ॥ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾਂ! ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਾ ਕੱਪੜਾ ਦੁਨੀਆਦਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਲਾਗ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਿਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਲਾਲਚ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥
ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾਂ! ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ॥ ਵਹੁਟੀ (ਜਗਿਆਸੂ ਰੂਪੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ) ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪਲੰਘ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ?
ਮੈਂ ਘੋਲੀ ਵੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਮਾਲਕ! ਮੈਂ ਘੋਲੀ ਵੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤੇਰੇ ਉਤੋਂ ॥
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਸਕਦੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਜੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਨੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਠਹਿਰਾਉ ॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਦੇਹ ਲਲਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਮੱਟੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਮ ਮਜੀਠ ਵਜੋਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇ,
ਤੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਸਾਈਂ ਲਲਾਰੀ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਐਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਰੰਗ ਉਘੜੇਗਾ, ਜੇਹੋ ਜੇਹਾ ਕਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾ!
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਗਰੱਖੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੰਗੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮਾਂ! ਭਰਤਾ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ ॥
ਹੇ ਸਾਈਂ! ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਾਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖਾਕ ਬਖਸ਼ ॥ ਹੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ! ਉਹ ਇਹ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਸੁਆਮੀ ਖੁਦ ਰਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਖੁਦ ਰੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
ਨਾਨਕ, ਜੇਕਰ ਪਤਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਖੁਦ ਬਖੁਦ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥
