English Translation

Asa Bani Bhagat Dhanai Ji Ki Ik Onkar Satgur Prasad ( Bhramat Phirat Bahu Janam Bilane... ) "By the Grace of the One Supreme Lord, Truth personified attainable through the Guru's guidance."

Being engrossed in whims and dual-mindedness many ages have passed by as this mind embedded in this human body is never at peace and satiated with wealth. This mind is engrossed in the poison of vices and sinful actions like sexual desires but has forsaken the (nectar) jewel of the Lord's True Name. (Pause-1)

This foolish mind has loved (as sweet) the venom of worldly pleasures, which brings disaster, but never deliberated on the beautiful thoughts of the Lord's True Name. He has been passed through the cycle of births and deaths by developing a love for vicious and sinful actions. (1)

His mind has never concentrated on the realization of the Lord and has been trapped by the noose of the Yama, thus forgetting the virtuous Lord by amassing the poison of vicious and sinful actions. (2)

However, the persons, blessed with the knowledge (of the Lord's secrets) through the Guru's guidance, have become an embodiment of the Lord by meditation and recitation of True Name. Such persons have developed a love of the Lord's worship, thus attaining salvation finally, by enjoying the bliss of life. (3)

The persons, who have been enlightened by the Prime- soul, have realized and attained the Lord. O Dhana! By joining the company of holy saints, who see the Lord's presence everywhere, I have attained the treasure of the Lord's True Name. (4-1)

ਆਸਾ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਪੂਜਯ ਭਗਤ ਧੰਨਾ ਜੀ ॥ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ॥ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਭਟਕਣ ਅੰਦਰ ਘਣੇਰੇ ਜਨਮ ਬੀਤ ਗਏ ਹਨ ॥ ਦੇਹ, ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਸਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ॥ ਲੋਭ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਭੋਗਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਅਤੇ ਰੰਗੀਜ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ, ਜਵੇਹਰ ਨੂੰ ਚਿੱਤੋ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਠਹਿਰਾਉ ॥

ਪਗਲੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਪ ਦਾ ਮੇਵਾ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੀ ॥ ਨੇਕੀ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੋ, ਪਾਪ ਦੀਆਂ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸਮਾਂ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਣ ਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਤਾਣਾ ਤਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਉਸ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਜੋ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਫੰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੜਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਉਹ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਫਸਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਪਾਪਾ ਦੇ ਮੇਵਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਤਰ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਐਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਭਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਸੁਅਮੀ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥

ਜਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਿਮ ਬੀਚਾਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਸਾਈ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਬਖਸ਼ਦੇ ਹਚਨ, ਤਾਂ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੇ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣ ਕੇ ਬੰਦਾ ਉਸ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ-ਮਿੱਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰੱਜ ਕੇ ਧਰਾਪ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਮੋਖਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰੱਬੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਰਮਿਆ ਤੇ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਨਾਂ-ਛਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਾਣ ਲੈਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਧੰਨੇ ਨੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਥੰਮ੍ਹਣਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਵਜੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥

आसा बाणी भगत धंने जी की ईश्वर एक है, जिसे सतगुरु की कृपा से पाया जा सकता है। अनेक जन्म आवागमन के चक्र में भटकते हुए व्यतीत हो गए लेकिन तन, मन, धन तीनों ही स्थिर नहीं रहते। लालच एवं कामवासना के विष में लुब्ध होकर इस मन ने प्रभु रूपी हीरे को विस्मृत कर दिया है॥ १॥ रहाउ ॥

बावले मन को विषय-विकारों का फल मीठा लगता है तथा सुन्दर विचारों को जाना नहीं है। शुभ गुणों के विपरीत पापों की अनेक भ्रांतियों से उसका प्रेम अधिकतर बढ़ गया है और वह दुबारा जन्म-मरण का ताना-बाना बना रहता है।॥ १॥ उस प्रभु मिलन की युक्ति को नहीं जानता जो ह्रदय में निवास करता है। मोह के जाल में जलता हुआ वह मृत्यु के फदे में फंस गया है। हे मेरे मन ! इस तरह तूने विष रूपी फल संचित करके अपने हृदय-घर में भर लिए हैं और परमपुरुष प्रभु भूल गया है॥ २॥

जब गुरु ने मुझे नाम-धन दिया तो मन में ज्ञान का प्रवेश हो गया। ध्यान लगाने से मेरा मन प्रभु से एकाकार हो गया। प्रभु की प्रेम-भक्ति को धारण करने से मन को आत्मिक सुख की अनुभूति हो गई है और इस तरह मन तृप्त एवं संतुष्ट होने से मुझे मोक्ष की प्राप्ति हो गई॥ ३॥ जिस मनुष्य के भीतर सर्वव्यापक परमात्मा की ज्योति समाई है, उसने निश्चल भगवान को पहचान लिया है। धन्ना जी का कथन है कि उसने धरणिधर प्रभु को अमूल्य धन के रूप में प्राप्त कर लिया है तथा संतों की संगति में मिलकर वह उसमें समा गया है॥ ४॥ १॥
