ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਫੁਰਮਾਇਆ ਕਾਰੀ ਏਹ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹੋਇ ਕੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਮਾਲੇਹੁ ॥ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਭਰਮੈ ਕੇ ਛਉੜ ਕਟਿ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਧਰੇਹੁ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਦਾਰੂ ਏਹੁ ਲਾਏਹੁ ॥ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਰਖਹੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੈ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਖਸੀ ਅਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੇਹੁ ॥੨॥
ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਭਾਰ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਬਣਸਪਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਲਾਏ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਮਾਲੀ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਸਿੰਚੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਏ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥ ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਰਾਖਾ ਆਪੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਏ ॥੧੫॥
English Translation
Slok Mahalla 3rd ( Nanak Bin Satgur Bhete Jug Andh Hai )
O, Nanak! This world, without the guidance of the True Guru, is like a blind (man) lane, being led astray in the darkness of ignorance. He does not devote his mind to the Guru's Word which could bring peace and tranquillity.
Such an obstinate person is always worked up due to his anger and spends day and night in such a state of mind. O, Lord! Whatever pleases You comes to pass as per Your Will. No one could say or do anything against Your dictates! (1)
Mahalla 3rd:
O, Brother! We should function as dictated by the Guru, according to the Lord's Will. Let us remember the Lord always like a Guru-minded person, through the Guru's guidance, by following the Guru's Word; as the Lord is always by our side.
We should tear apart the curtain of disbelief or mistrust from the eyes by burning the light of knowledge within our hearts. We should take the Lord's True Name as the remedy for our ills, and keep the Lord's Will as our mainstay in a life of discipline towards attaining the Lord.
O, Nanak! The Lord would bestow all sorts of comforts and joy on You in this world by following the Lord's Will and taking this remedy, would enjoy the bliss in company with the Guru at the Lord's court; and would be given a place of honor in the Lord's presence. (2)
Pouri:
The Lord Himself is like the vegetation of the world in total measure (18 measures) and Himself causes the fruit to blossom. He is the gardener of this garden (world), waters all the plants Himself, and tastes all the fruits.
The Lord is the creator of all, causes everything to happen and Himself is the user of all while dishing out fruits. He Himself is the True Master, the protector, and pervades everywhere in all fruits. O, Nanak! I always sing the praises of the Lord and His greatness, who does not have an inkling of greed even. (15)

श्लोक महला ३ ॥ हे नानक! सच्चे गुरु से भेंट के बिना यह जगत अन्धा अर्थात् ज्ञानहीन है और अंधे कर्म (दुष्कर्म) कर रहा है। यह जगत (उस) शब्द में चित नहीं लगाता, जिससे सुख मन में आकर निवास करता है।
यह जगत हमेशा ही क्रोध में लीन होकर भटकता है और इसके दिन-रात क्रोध में जलते हुए बीत जाते हैं। जो कुछ भी परमात्मा को अच्छा लगता है, वही होता है और इस संदर्भ में कुछ भी कहा नहीं जा सकता ॥ १॥
महला ३। सच्चे गुरु ने मुझे यह कार्य करने का फुरमान किया है कि गुरु के द्वार पर मालिक का नाम याद करते रहो। मालिक हमेशा करीब है अतः भृम के पर्दे को फाड़कर अंतर में उसकी ज्योति का ध्यान धारण करो।
हरि का नाम अमृत है, यह औषधि द्वदय में धारण करो। सच्चे गुरु की रज़ा अपने चित्त में धारण करो और सच्चे प्रेम को अपना संयम बनाओ। हे नानक ! इहलोक में सतगुरु तुझे सुखपूर्वक रखेगा और परलोक में परमेश्वर के साथ आनंद करो ॥ २॥
पउड़ी॥ परमात्मा आप ही अठारह भार वनस्पति है और आप ही इसे फल लगाता है। वह आप ही सृष्टि रूपी बाग का बागवां है, आप ही सभी पौधों को सींचता है और आप ही उनके फल को मुँह में डालता है।
परमात्मा आप ही निर्माता है और आप ही भोक्ता है, यह आप ही देता और दूसरो को दिलवाता है। वह आप ही मालिक हैं, आप ही रक्षक है और आप ही अपनी सृष्टि रचना समाया हुआ है।
नानक तो उस जगत के रचयिता परमात्मा का ही स्तुतिगान कर रहा है, जिसे अपनी स्तुति करवाने में तिल मात्र भी लोभ नहीं ॥ १५॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਮਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਜਿਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਸੁਖ ਆ ਵੱਸੇ। ਤਮੋ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸਦਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ (ਤਮੋ ਗੁਣ ਵਿਚ) ਸੜਦਿਆਂ (ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ) ਗੁਜ਼ਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
(ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ) ਕੁਝ ਆਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋਈ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਭਰਮ ਦਾ ਛਉੜ ਕੱਟਣ ਲਈ) ਇਹ ਕਾਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਲਾਜ) ਕਰੋ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ (ਭਾਵ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ) ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰੋ, ਮਾਲਕ ਸਦਾ ਅੰਗ ਸੰਗ ਹੈ (ਅੱਖਾਂ ਅਗੋਂ) ਭਰਮ ਦੇ ਜਾਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਹ ਕੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜੋਤ ਟਿਕਾਉ।
ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅਮਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ-ਇਹ ਦਾਰੂ ਵਰਤੋ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਭਾਣਾ (ਮੰਨਣਾ) ਚਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਖੋ ਤੇ ਸਚਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਰੂਪ) ਰਹਿਣੀ (ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰੋ) , ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਦਾਰੂ) ਏਥੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁਖੀ ਰਖੇਗਾ ਤੇ ਅੱਗੇ (ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਹਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਰਲੀਆਂ ਮਾਣੋਗੇ।੨।
ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਅਠਾਰਾਂ ਭਾਰ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ) , ਆਪ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫਲ ਲਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਲੀ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਫਲ) ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਭੋਗਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦਿਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮਾਲਕ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਾ ਭੀ ਆਪ ਹੈ, ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ) ਸੇਵਕ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਕਰਤਾ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ) ਰਤਾ ਮਾਤ੍ਰ ਭੀ ਕੋਈ ਤਮ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੧੫।
