Punjabi Translation

ਵਡਹੰਸ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ॥ ਘਰ ੨। ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ॥ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਭਾਰੀ ਖਾਹਿਸ਼ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਾਂ? ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਲੈ, ਆਪਣੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਖਮਤ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਭੂੱਲੀ ਹੋਈ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ਼ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੀ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਹੈ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਣਾ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥

ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਦੀ ਖਾਤਰ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਕਿਸਮਾ ਦੇ ਪੁਸ਼ਾਕੇ ਪਾਉਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਵਾਂ ॥ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਲ ਝਾਤੀ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ॥ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਬੱਝ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਜੀਹਦੇ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਰਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਜੀ ਧਜੀ ਹੋਈ ਹਾਂ, ਉਹ ਮੈਡਾਂ ਕੰਤ ਹੋਰਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ, ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਮੁਬਾਰਕ! ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸੱਚੀ ਪਤਨੀ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਟ ਸੱਚੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦੀ ਹੈ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਸਤਿ-ਆਤਮਾ ਲਾੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਅਮੀ, ਲਾੜੇ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਉਹ ਆਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਦੇ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਕੰਤ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਰਹਿਮਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ॥ ਆਪਣਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਦੇਹ, ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁੱਝ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਅਰਪਨ ਕਰ ਦੇ ॥ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਰਸਤਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਅੰਮਾ ਜਾਈਏ! ਨਾਨਕ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਸ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਸ ਵਲ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਝਾਕੇ, ਤਦ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ ਨੂਰ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨੂਰ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥

ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਤੇ ਦੇਹ ਅਰਪਨ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਮੈਂ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਖੀ ਝੱਲਦੀ ਹਾਂ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ-ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਜਲ ਢੋਦੀ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਦੀ ਟਹਿਲ ਕਮਾਉਂਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ-ਵਾਰਤਾ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼! ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਾਂ, ਵੱਡੇ ਪੁਰਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਚਾਹਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ॥

ਹੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਵੱਡੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਕੋਲੋ ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕਥਾ-ਵਾਰਤਾ ਪੁਛਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਕੀਰਤੀ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ ਨਿਤਾਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਹੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ! ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਤੈਡਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਜੀਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥ ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਭੁਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਮਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥

ਹਰ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਣ ਦੀ ਤਾਘ ਰਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਉਹੀ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੱਚਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦੀਵ ਤੇ ਸਦੀਵ ਹੀ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਆਰਾਧਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ, ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਗੋਲਾ ਅਤੇ ਰੱਬ ਇਕ ਮਿੱਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਅਭੇਦ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥

English Translation

"By the Grace of the One Lord-Supreme, attainable through the Guru's guidance."

O True Master! I have great hopes in my heart as to how to get a glimpse of Your vision. I would rather meet my Guru to seek His advice, so as to give the right guidance to my foolish mind. This disenchanted mind has been made to realize the Truth through the Guru's Word and then recite the Lord's True Name. O Nanak! The person, who is bestowed with the Grace of my beloved Lord, gets attached to the lotus feet of the Lord. (1)

I would adopt any moves to win the love of the Lord, provided I could win the acceptance and pleasure of the Lord. How could I rest contented when I find the Lord is not even caring a bit for me without casting a glance even? But the Lord- Spouse, for whom I am beautifying myself, is more interested in the love of others. O Nanak! Blessed and praiseworthy are the persons, who have won the love of the Lord-Spouse, and are enjoying the conjugal love of the Lord. (2)

I would rather go and ask the persons, who have endeared themselves to the Lord-Spouse, as to how they have managed to enjoy the conjugal bliss of my beloved Lord. They told me that they have won the acceptance and Grace of the beloved Lord, having given up I-am-ness and egoism and adopting humility. O, friend! You could also unite with the Lord by surrendering your body and soul completely to Him and ridding yourself of I-am-ness. O Nanak! We could gain unison with the Lord when He blesses us with His Grace and benevolence and gets our soul merged with the Prime soul. (3)

O Brother! I would offer my body and mind (self-surrender) completely to the person, who would bring some news (message) of my beloved Lord. I would serve such a person by all means and serve by fanning him or bringing water for him (like a water carrier). I would serve such a Lord's devotee, who would give (deliver) me discourses of the Lord- Sublime. O Nanak! Blessed and praiseworthy is the True and perfect Guru, who has helped me to fulfill my desires! (4)

O True Master! May I be enabled to meet such a friendly Guru, in whose company I could sing the Lord's praises by reciting True Name! I would seek the guidance of my True Guru to listen to the discourses of the beloved Lord and then sing the praises of the Lord in the company of the Guru. O True Master! I feel thrilled by singing the praises of the Lord all the time and by listening to the True Name. O Nanak! I would feel completely dejected like a dead person when I forsake the True Name of the Lord. (I feel completely dispirited by forgetting the Lord's worship). (5)

Everyone is longing to have a glimpse of the Lord, but he alone perceives His glimpse and is blessed with this opportunity by the Lord Himself. The person, who is bestowed with the Grace of the beloved Lord, can recite the Lord's True Name. Whosoever is united with the perfect Guru, is enabled to recite his True Name by caring to preserve it with devotion. O Nanak! The persons, who have managed to unite with the Lord through love and devotion, become one with the Lord through the recitation of the True Name. (6-1-3)

वडहंस महला ४ घरु २ ( Main Man Vaddi Aas Hare ... ) ईश्वर एक है, जिसे सतगुरु की कृपा से पाया जा सकता है। मेरे मन में बड़ी आशा है, फिर में कैसे हरि के दर्शन करूँ ? मैं अपने सतिगुरु से जाकर पूछता हूँ और गुरु से पूछकर अपने विमूढ़ मन को समझाता हूँ। यह भूला हुआ मन गुरु के शब्द द्वारा ही समझता है और इस तरह दिन-रात हरि-परमेश्वर का ध्यान करता है। हे नानक ! मेरा प्रियतम जिस पर अपनी कृपा-दृष्टि करता है, वह हरि के सुन्दर चरणों में अपना चित्त लगाता है॥ १॥

अपने प्रियतम-प्रभु के लिए मैं विभिन्न प्रकार के सभी वेष धारण करती हूँ चूंकि जो मैं अपने सत्यस्वरूप हरि-प्रभु को अच्छी लगने लगूं। लेकिन वह प्रियतम प्यारा मेरी तरफ कृपा-दृष्टि से नजर उठाकर भी नहीं देखता तो फिर मैं क्योंकर धैर्य प्राप्त कर सकती हूँ? जिसके कारण मैंने अनेक हार-श्रृंगारों से श्रृंगार किया है, वह मेरा पति-प्रभु दूसरों के प्रेम में लीन रहता है। हे नानक ! वह जीव-स्त्री धन्य-धन्य एवं सौभाग्यवती है, जिसने पति-प्रभु के साथ रमण किया है और इस सत्यस्वरूप सर्वश्रेष्ठ पति को ही बसाया हुआ है॥ २॥

मैं जाकर भाग्यशाली सुहागिन से पूछती हूँ कि आपने कैसे मेरे प्रभु (सुहाग) को प्राप्त किया है। वह कहती है कि मैंने मेरे-तेरे के अन्तर को छोड़ दिया है, इसलिए मेरे सच्चे पति-परमेश्वर ने मुझ पर कृपा-दृष्टि की है। हे मेरी बहन ! अपना मन, तन, प्राण एवं सर्वस्व हरि-प्रभु को अर्पित कर दे, यही उससे मिलन का सुगम मार्ग है। हे नानक ! अपना प्रभु जिस पर कृपा-दृष्टि से देखता है, उसकी ज्योति परम-ज्योति में विलीन हो जाती है॥ ३॥

जो कोई पुण्यात्मा मुझे मेरे हरि-प्रभु का सन्देश देती है, उसे मैं अपना तन-मन अर्पण करती हूँ। मैं नित्य ही उसे पंखा फेरती हूँ, उसकी श्रद्धा से सेवा करती हूँ और उसके समक्ष जल लाती हूँ। जो मुझे हरि की हरि-कथा सुनाता है, उस हरि के सेवक की मैं दिन-रात सर्वदा सेवा करती हूँ। हे नानक ! मेरा पूर्ण गुरु-सतगुरु धन्य-धन्य है, जो मेरे मन की आशा पूरी करता है॥ ४ ॥

हे हरि ! मुझे मेरा सज्जन गुरु मिला दो, जिससे मिलकर मैं हरि-नाम का ध्यान करता रहूँ। मैं गुरु-सतगुरु से हरि की गोष्टि-वार्ता पूंछू और उससे सांझ डालकर हरि का गुणगान करूँ। हे हरि ! मैं नित्य-नित्य सर्वदा ही तेरा गुणगान करता रहूँ और तेरा नाम सुनकर मेरा मन आध्यात्मिक रूप से जीवित है। हे नानक ! जिस समय मुझे मेरा स्वामी प्रभु विस्मृत हो जाता है, उस समय मेरी आत्मा मर जाती है।॥ ५॥

हर कोई हरि-दर्शन की तीव्र लालसा करता है लेकिन हरि उसे ही अपने दर्शन देता है, जिसे वह अपने दर्शन स्वयं प्रदान करता है। मेरा प्रियतम जिस पर कृपा-दृष्टि करता है, वह सर्वदा ही परमेश्वर का सिमरन करता है। जिसे मेरा पूर्ण सतगुरु मिल जाता है, वह सर्वदा ही हरि-नाम की आराधना करता रहता है। हे नानक ! हरि का सेवक एवं हरि एक ही रूप हो गए हैं।चूंकि हरि का जाप करने से हरि-सेवक भी हरि में ही समा गया है॥ ६ ॥ १॥ ३ ॥
