1. Punjabi Translation

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਕਮਾਇਅੜੋ ਸੋ ਆਇਓ ਮਾਥੈ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਤੂੰ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈਂ, ਉਹੀ ਕਰਮ ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਲਿਖੇ ਆ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੁਕਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਹਰ ਇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵੇਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਿਉਂ ਕਰੀਏ? ਭਲਾ ਕਰਮ ਕਰੀਏ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰੀਏ, ਤਾਂ ਨਰਕ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਪੇਗਾ।
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਅੱਠੇ ਪਹਰ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਭਾਏਗਾ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ, ਭਜਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ॥੧॥

ਵਲਵੰਚ ਕਰਿ ਉਦਰੁ ਭਰਹਿ ਮੂਰਖ ਗਾਵਾਰਾ ॥

ਹੇ ਮੂਰਖ ਤੇ ਅਜਾਣ ਮਨੁੱਖ! ਤੂੰ ਠੱਗੀ-ਫਰੇਬ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੇਟ ਭਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਪਰ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ।
ਉਹ ਦਾਤਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੋਂ ਭੁਲਾਉਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ।
ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ, ਝਾਕਾ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ, ਭਜਨ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੁਲ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਿਧ, ਸਾਧਕ, ਦੇਵਤੇ, ਮੁਨੀ, ਭਗਤ — ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਭਜਨ ਕਰ ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਰਚਨਹਾਰ ਹੈ ॥੨॥

ਖੋਟੁ ਨ ਕੀਚਈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਰਖਣਹਾਰਾ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਧੋਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਖਰੇ ਤੇ ਖੋਟੇ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਝੂਠ ਤੇ ਫਰੇਬ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪਰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਿਆ, ਕਾਮ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ, ਨਿੰਦਾ ਆਦਿਕ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਗਏ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਣੀ, ਧਰਤੀ ਤੇ ਆਕਾਸ਼ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਚਾ, ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੇ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਹੈ — ਉਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੇਕ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹਨ ॥੩॥

ਪੇਖੁ ਹਰਿਚੰਦਉਰੜੀ ਅਸਥਿਰੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਇਕ ਚਮਕਦਾਰ ਪਰਦਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗ ਹੈ — ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਸਥਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਤਮਾਸੇ ਜਿੰਨੇ ਵੀ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਾ।
ਪਰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਾਥ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਾਥੀ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ।
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਸੱਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ — ਦੁਜੇ ਦੀ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਰਗੀ ਜਾਲੀ ਹੈ।
ਮਿੱਤਰ, ਜਵਾਨੀ, ਧਨ-ਦੌਲਤ — ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੰਨ, ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਸਾ।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਕਿਹਾ — ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਸੁਖ ਅਤੇ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੩॥

2. Din Rat Kamaiero So Aayo Maathe - English Translation

Din rat kamaiear'o so aiyo mathai
Jis paas lukaai-daRo so vekhee saathai.
Sang dekhai karanhaaraa kaa-e paap kamaa-ee-ai?
Sukrit keejai naam leejai narak mool na jaa-ee-ai.
Aath pahar har naam simrahu chalai terai saathay.
Bhaj saadh-sangat sadaa Nanak miteh dokh kamaatay. ||1||

Asa Mahala - 5 ( Din rat kamaiear'o so aiyo mathai ) O Man! Whatever (sinful) actions you were performing during day and night, you have to face the consequences (and reap the fruit of) of your own actions. The Lord from whom you were hiding your actions, was perceiving everthing being always with you. (being present close by). Why do we commit sinful actions, when the Lord creator is watching everything everywhere. If we were to perform virtuous actions by reciting True Name then we would not land up in the hell. Let us therefore recite True Name all the twenty four hours which will accompany us to the world hereafter.O Nanak! Let us always worship the Lord (recite Lord's True Name) in the company of holy saints, so that all the afflictions gathered by us are (destroyed) cast away. (1)

Val-vanch kar udarh bhareh moorakh gaavaaraa.
Sabh kichh de rahi-aa har devan-haaraa.
Daataar sadaa dayaalu swaamee kaa-e manahu visaaree-ai?
Mil saadh-sangay bhaj nisangay kul samoohaa taaree-ai.
Sidh saadhik dev mun jan bhagat naam adhaaraa.
Binvant Nanak sadaa bhajee-ai prabh ek karnaai-haaraa. ||2||

O foolish ignorant man! You are filling your belly (you are leading a life of deceit and clever moves) with deceit and clever actions while the Lord- benefactor is bestowing all His favours on you. Why should we fosake such a True Master from our hearts, who is always so kind and benevolent to us ? Let us serve the Lord in the company of holy saints by ridding us of all doubls and fears, thus helping the whole family towards salvations: All the saints, sidhas and sadiks (mendicants ) munis, gods and men have taken the support of True Name O Nanak! Let us, therefore, always recite the True Name of the Lord Almighty who is controlling the cause and effect of everything. (2)

Khot na keech-ee prabh parakhanhaaraa.
Koorh kapatt kamaavdaRay janmeh sansaaraa.
Sansaar saagar tinee tari-aa jinh-ee ek dhiaa-i-aa.
Taj kaam krodh anind nindaa prabh sarnaa-ee aa-i-aa.
Jal thal mahee-al ravi-aa swaamee ooch agam apaaraa.
Binvant Nanak tek jan kee charan kamal adhaaraa. ||3||

The Lord is a great scrutinizer, so we should not indulge in any falsehood or deceit. The world is engrossed in false and deceitful functions, as such it suffers through the cycle of Rebirths. But the persons, who have meditated on the One Lord-sublime have been able to cross this ocean of life successfully as they have sought the support of the Lord having rid themselves of sexual desires, anger and praise or vilification of others. The Lord Almighty, who is the greatest and limitless Lord, beyond our reach, is pervading everywhere including all oceans, lands and the skies. O Nanak! The Lord is the support and mainstay of His slaves (disciples) who have taken refuge at the lotus feet of the Lord. (3)

Pekho harichand-urRee asthir kichh naahee.
Maa-i-aa rang jetay say sang na jaahee.
Har sang saathee sadaa terai dinas rain samaalee-ai.
Har ek bin kachh avar naahee bhaa-o dutee-aa jaalee-ai.
Meet joban maal sarbas prabh ek kar man maahee.
Binvant Nanak vadbhaag paa-ee-ai sookh sahaj samaahee. ||4||4||13||

There is nothing permanent in this Universe just as the world is like the temporary and unreal light seen in the sky in the morning and all the worldly pleasures of this Maya are transient and never accompany man after this life. There is only one Lord Almighty who is our permanent companion and we should recite His True Name day and night, who keeps company with us at all times. Apart from the True Lord there is no other power on Earth (as great as the Lord) as such we should cast away (burn) our dual mindedness. There is only one Lord, who is to be considered dearest to us, as compared to all the friends, youth, worldly possessions and other family members and we should inculcate His love in the heart. O Nanak! It is only through great good fortune pre-destined by Lord's Will that we could enjoy the eternal bliss in unison with the Lord (effortlessly) in the state of equipoise. (4-4-13)

4. दिनु रात कमाइअड़ो सो आयो माथै - हुकमनामा हिन्दी में

आसा महला ५ ॥
आसा महला पाँचवाँ।

दिनु राति कमाइअड़ो सो आइओ माथै ॥
जो कुछ दिन-रात कमाया है, वही अब सिर पर आ गया है।

जिसु पासि लुकाइदड़ो सो वेखी साथै ॥
जिससे छुपाते रहे, वही साथ में देखकर रहा था।

संगि देखै करणहारा काइ पापु कमाईऐ ॥
जब सृजनहार हर समय साथ देख रहा है, तो पाप क्यों करें?

सुकृतु कीजै नामु लीजै नरकि मूलि न जाईऐ ॥
सत्कर्म करो, नाम जपो, तो नरक में कभी नहीं जाना पड़ेगा।

आठ पहर हरि नामु सिमरहु चलै तेरै साथे ॥
चौबीसों घंटे हरि नाम सिमरते रहो, वह तुम्हारे साथ चलेगा।

भजु साधसंगति सदा नानक मिटहि दोख कमाते ॥੧॥
सदा साधसंगति में भजन करो, नानक कहते हैं, किए हुए दोष मिट जाते हैं। (१)

मूड़ मूरख लोभी जमुघटि भरमातो ॥
Moorkh, murkh, lobhi manushya jam ke jaal mein bhatak raha hai.

करि कपटु पेखै दातारु सभना दातो ॥
Kapti karmon ke saath jee raha hai, jabki sabko dene wala Datar (Paramatma) dekh raha hai.

निंदकु छोडि न लाईऐ चितु राम नाम सिउ ॥
Nindak ko chhod do, aur apna chitt Ram Naam mein lagao.

साधसंगि सेविऐ मिटै सभु भ्रमु भाम सिउ ॥
Sadhu sangati mein seva karo, isse saare bhram aur bhay mit jaate hain.

जितु लागै लाहा हरि नामु लिखिआ धुरि काथो ॥
Jis Naam mein laabh hai, wahi Hari Naam tumhare bhaagya mein dhur se likha gaya hai.

साध जना की रेनु नानकु मागै लाथो ॥੨॥
Nanak santon ki charan-dhool maangte hain, usi se mukti milti hai। (2)

नानकु जानै पूरा पारब्रहमु समालीऐ ॥
Nanak jaante hain ki sampoorn Parbrahm ko sada smaran karna chahiye.

कूड़ कपटि साकतु भवै जनमु गवाईऐ ॥
Jhooth aur kapat mein jo maya-premi (saakat) bhatakta hai, apna janam vyarth gavaata hai.

साधसंगति के आसरै पारि परै जनु एका ॥
Jo vyakti sadhu-sangat ka aasra leta hai, vah bhavsagar paar ho jaata hai.

राम नामु जपि रतै रंगि रता निरबेका ॥
Jo Ram Naam japta hai, vah usme rang jata hai, aur sab moh-vikar se mukt ho jaata hai.

संसारु सागरु बिखमु भै भरिआ पारि पावै गुर की चरनी लाथो ॥
Yeh sansaar ka samundar bada kathin aur bhay se bhara hai, lekin guru ke charnon se ise paar kiya ja sakta hai.

नानक सरनि गही सुआमी सरब कला जा कै हाथो ॥੩॥
Nanak ne us Swami ki sharan li hai, jiske haathon mein sabhi shaktiyan hain। (3)

जगु चलणहारु न रहणु आइई ॥
Yeh jagat chanchal hai, yahaan kuch bhi sthir nahi rehne wala.

जिउ बलबूता झारि लगाई ॥
Jaise subah ki roshni mein dikhne wali dhool, vaise hi yah jagat mithya hai.

साचि रते से नाही रोवै ॥
Jo log sache Naam mein rang gaye hain, ve kabhi shokh nahi karte.

प्रभु अपना सदा संगि जोवै ॥
Hamare apne Prabhu hamesha saath rahte hain.

दूजा बिनु को नाही मीतु ॥
Prabhu ke alawa koi sachcha mitra nahi hai.

आपु गवाइ रहां हरि चीति ॥
Apne aap ko mitakar, Hari ka smaran karte hue jeevan bitana chahiye.

नानक कउ प्रभु भइआ दइआला सहजि मिलै सुखु पाइ ॥੪॥੪॥੧੩॥
Prabhu Nanak par dayaalu ho gaya, aur bina kathinai ke milan hua, jismein param sukh prapt hua। (4)(4)(13)
