ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਉਚਾਰੀ ਹੋਈ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਚਨ ਹਨ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਸ ਬਾਣੀ ਨੂੰ) ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉੱਚੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੀਭ ਨਾਲ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਜੀਵਨ-ਸਮੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਸਦਕਾ) ਇਕ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮੂੰਹ ਉਤੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਲਾ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ (ਝਗੜਿਆਂ ਕਲੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਗਏ।੨।੩੧।੩੭।

Suhi Mahalla V
Drops ofnectar are the words of holy,
He who repeats them, he is liberated.
Day and night meditating on the Divine Entity, (1) Refrain
His afflictions of Kaliyuga are shed.
With Name alone his mind is wed. (I)
As the dust of the feet holy he applies on his face and forehead,
Says Nanak, under the Preceptors stewardship to salvation he is led. (2) 31.37

हे भाई! गुरु की उच्चारित वाणी आत्मिक जीवन देने वाले वचन हैं। जो जो मनुष्य (इस वाणी को) जपता है, उसकी ऊँची आत्मिक अवस्था बन जाती है, वह मनुष्य सदा अपनी जीभ से परमात्मा का नाम उच्चारता रहता है।१।रहाउ।
हे भाई! (गुरबाणी की बरकत से) क्लेशों-भरे जीवन-समय के सारे क्लेश मिट जाते हैं, (क्योंकि वाणी के सदका) एक हरि-नाम ही मन में टिका रहता है।१।
हे नानक! गुरु के चरणों की धूल (जिन मनुष्यों ने अपने) मुँह पर माथे पर लगा ली, वह मनुष्य गुरु की शरण पड़ के प्रभु की शरण पड़ के (झगड़ों क्लेशों से) बच गए।२।३१।३७।
