Na Tan Tera Na Man Tohe, Maya Mohe Byapia Dhohe; Baani Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Raag Ramkali Ang 899 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

English Translation

Ramkali Mahala - 5 ( Na Tan Tera Na Man Tohe )
Oh, my mind! Neither this body belongs to you, nor there is any protector of yours in the world. (neither this body nor this mind belongs to you). You are engrossed in the love of Maya and hence in deceitful actions. This person is jumping around like a he-lamb (in the lambs) and a he-goat (among the goats.) The noose of Yama (god of death) is suddenly thrown on all the people as the fear of death is hovering over their heads all the time. (1)
O my mind Take the support of the lotus feet of the True Master and recite the True Name of the Lord, who is your mainstay through the Grace and benevolence of the Guru, to attain the true wealth (of True Lord). (Pause - 1)
The worldly chores of the human being are never completed as they never cease to bother him, and he is always fretting and fuming under the burden (love) of sexual desires, anger, and egotism. This foolish man is always engrossed in vices and sins to satisfy his worldly needs (for his very existence) without realizing that nothing (even a small amount) will accompany him after death. (2)
This human being spends his whole life performing deceitful actions or clever moves and for making money (even a penny) he faces all sorts of disgrace (with dust thrown on his face). He does not remember (worship) the Lord even for a moment, who has bestowed him with all the benedictions as he is always suffering under the love of false worldly possessions. (3)
But when the Lord bestows His Grace on this human being this mind becomes (humble), the dust of the lotus-feet of the holy saints. The Lord has now united him with Himself through His support (by lending His helping hand). O Nanak! The (Guru-minded) person has now merged (united) with the True Lord by becoming Truthful. (4- 41 -52)

रामकली महला ५ ॥ ( Na Tan Tera Na Man Tohe ) हे प्राणी ! न यह शरीर तेरा है और न ही मन तेरे वश में है। तू मोह-माया के कारण धोखे में फँसा हुआ है। तू भेड़ के मेमने की तरह खेलता कूदता है और अचानक ही मृत्यु के जाल में फॅस जाता है॥ १॥

हे मन ! प्रभु चरणों की शरण ग्रहण करो, राम नाम का जाप करो जो तेरा साथी एवं सहायक है, गुरुमुख ही नाम रूपी धन प्राप्त करता है॥ १॥ रहाउ॥

इन्सान के अधूरे कार्य पूरे नहीं होते, वह काम, क्रोध के नशे में सदैव परेशान होता है। तू अपने मन के लिए अनेक पाप करता रहता है," परन्तु , हे गाफिल ! तेरे साथ कुछ भी नहीं जाने वाला।॥ २ ॥

तू लोगों के साथ बड़ा छल-कपट एवं अनेक प्रकार के धोखे करता है। कौड़ी-कौड़ी के लिए तू अपने सिर पर बदनामी की खाक डलवाता रहता है। जिस परमेश्वर ने अमूल्य जीवन दिया है, उसे तू बिल्कुल याद नहीं करता। झूठे लोभ के कारण तेरी पीड़ा दूर नहीं होती॥ ३॥

जब परब्रह्म दयालु हो जाता है तो यह मन साधुओं की चरण-धूलि बन जाता है। हे नानक ! ईश्वर जब सुन्दर हाथों से अपने संग मिला लेता है तो जीव परम सत्य में ही विलीन हो जाता है॥ ४॥ ४१ ॥ ५२ ॥

ਹੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਮਨ! ( Na Tan Tera Na Man Tohe ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ, ਇਹੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਅਸਲ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਇਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ-ਧਨ ਤੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਲੱਭ ਸਕੇਂਗਾ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਤੂੰ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਦੀ ਠੱਗੀ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ, ਨਾਹ ਉਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਨਾਹ ਹੀ (ਉਸ ਸਰੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਦਾ) ਮਨ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੈ। (ਵੇਖ!) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਭੇਡ ਦਾ ਬੱਚਾ ਭੇਡ ਨਾਲ ਕਲੋਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚਾਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਅਚਨਚੇਤ (ਮੌਤ ਦਾ) ਜਾਲ ਆ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਸ ਉਤੇ) ਮੌਤ ਅਪਣਾ ਚੱਕਰ ਚਲਾ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਇਹੀ ਹਾਲ ਹਰੇਕ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੧।

ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਇਹ ਕਦੇ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਦੇ ਸਿਰੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ; ਕਾਮ-ਵਾਸਨਾ ਵਿਚ, ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ, ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਨਸ਼ੇ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਗਿਲੇ-ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸ ਜਿੰਦ (ਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਣ) ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਜੀਵ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ (ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਲੋਂ) ਅਵੇਸਲੇ ਹੋ ਚੁਕੇ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਰਤਾ ਭੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ।੨।

ਮੂਰਖ ਜੀਵ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਠੱਗੀਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਕਰਨੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕੌਡੀ ਕੌਡੀ ਕਮਾਣ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ (ਦਗ਼ੇ-ਫ਼ਰੇਬ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਬਦਨਾਮੀ ਦੀ) ਸੁਆਹ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ) ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ। (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੋਭ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਚੋਭ (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ।੩।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਜੀਵ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਜੀਵ ਦਾ ਇਹ ਮਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਧੂੜ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, (ਉਹ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ) ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੪੧।੫੨।
