2. Aasa Andar Sabh Ko Meaning in English
Slok, Third Mehl:
O Nanak! Everyone is functioning with worldly hopes and desires. Rare is the person who becomes free from such expectations. One who dies to ego and then lives spiritually makes this human birth fruitful. ॥1॥
Third Mehl:
Hope itself has no power in its hands. How, then, can a person become free from hope merely through personal effort? What can this poor hope do when the Lord Himself allows a person to wander in forgetfulness? ॥2॥
Pauree:
Without the True Name of the Lord, worldly life is without lasting spiritual value. God is the Giver, the Great Bestower, and the wealth of Naam is eternal and imperishable.
The person who remembers the Lord with every breath becomes pure. With your tongue, remember the One Lord, the Knower of all hearts, who is beyond human comprehension. O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Lord who pervades all beings. ॥20॥
3. Spiritual Meaning of Aasa Andar Sabh Ko
The central teaching of Aasa Andar Sabh Ko concerns the human tendency to live through expectations and desires. We continually hope for possessions, success, relationships, recognition or future circumstances to provide lasting satisfaction.
Guru Amar Das Ji directs the mind beyond this dependence on worldly expectations. The expression “ਕੋਇ ਨਿਰਾਸਾ ਹੋਇ” points toward the rare person who becomes detached from such hopes and places reliance on the Divine instead.
The following Pauree further emphasizes Naam Simran. Worldly possessions are temporary, while the wealth of Naam is described as ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਧਨੁ—a treasure that does not perish. Remembering the Divine with every breath purifies one's inner life and redirects the mind toward the One who pervades all creation.
4. Aasa Andar Sabh Ko Meaning in Punjabi
5. Aasa Andar Sabh Ko Meaning in Hindi
