Sikh Scripture, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, is a 1430-page-long psalm in laudation of the Transcendent. Its poetry is all in the spiritual key. It lays down no dogma or prescriptions. Its message is couched in the language and symbolism of love and faith. It is the purest and most exalted poetry ever written. Being liberal in design and spirit, the Holy Granth is a major repository of spiritual thought in world literature apparently common to all religious traditions but unique in its announcement of the existence of the Absolute Being, and in its celebration of God-consciousness.
First Parkash of Guru Granth Sahib
The First Parkash of Guru Granth Sahib took place on August 26th, 1604 CE (Gregorian), Thursday on 17 Bhadon 1661 Bikrami. It was the day Pothi Sahib Ji was installed at Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar by 5th Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Bhai Buddha Ji was the first Head Granthi of Darbar Sri Harmandir Sahib. Sri Guru Granth Sahib proved a great landmark in the history of the Sikh Nation. It created a sensor of religious separation of Sikhs from the Hindus and the Muslims based on physical karma.

Guru Granth Sahib is a religious scripture different from other religious scriptures. It is unique in many ways. It is not delivered, spoken, or written by one spiritual leader. SGGS includes the compositions of thirty-six elders, yet it maintains the homogeneity of thought and practice.
The religious, linguistic, geographical, national, and cultural diversity of the Indian people has, in Guru Granth Sahib, found a platform to present a single unified religious poetics. The credit for this goes to Guru Nanak Sahib, the founder of the Sikh religion, and the first poet of Guru Granth Sahib. After a few Buddhist preachers, before the fourth century, it was Guru Nanak, who traveled extensively in India and abroad.
Guru Nanak Sahib
Guru Nanak traveled for nearly fifteen years, through towns, villages, jungles, mountains, deserts, and seas and reached to approach the headquarters of almost all the contemporary religious communities like Buddhists, Jains, Vaishnavs, Shaivs Sakats, Yogis, Sufis, and other (now) obscure sects and thus, in the modern idiom, of the Hindus and Muslims. He approached the heads of these seats, debated with them, and finally convinced them to form a single unified group of thinkers to ensure the creative growth of society for the coming generations. Society, when divided, is poor on all accounts, temporal or spiritual, but society, when united, is always a strength on all accounts.
This way, he was a pro-human thinker and not of a particular discipline of life, or community. Therefore, his mind is not reserved for a sect, a religion, or a nation. His focus is on the whole being. His strain that runs through his words, his actions, and his objectives, testifies to this effect. Guru was determined to bring about a revolution in the existing order of life, on the whole, and for this he knocked at every door, that mattered, to communicate the gravity of the situation, prevailing in contemporary society. He tried to convince the contemporary leaders that: God is one, alone, and the same for all beings. He cannot be a God for a sect or a community.

Compilation of Guru Granth Sahib
The Adi Guru Granth Sahib was compiled by the fifth Sikh Guru Arjan Dev Ji, in 1604 CE. He already had before him the hymns of his four predecessors collected and put to writing by the second and the third Sikh Gurus. The latter had even added some of the popular sayings of the Hindu Bhaktas and Muslim Sufis as well.
Assembled in two volumes, the manuscripts lay with Baba Mohan, son of Guru Amar Das, the third Sikh Guru. From him, Guru Arjun procured these after some hard persuasion, as the holy Granth itself testifies. Guru Ji collected the Gurbani of Gurus from some other sources as well. Bhai Gurdas Ji wrote the Pothi Sahib after a good deal of judicious pruning to separate the apocryphal writings. He was a disciple of the Gurus, under the direct supervision of his maternal nephew and Guru Arjun himself.
Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth and the last Sikh Guru, added some of the sayings of his father, Guru Tegh Bahadur, to the volume (and possibly One couplet of his own). And this whole has come down to us in its original purity now known as Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Punjabi Poem "Shabad Guru" on Sri Guru Granth Sahib
'ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗੁਰੂ' is the title of a Punjabi Poem written by renowned Poet Pritam Singh Kasad on his love for 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib JI'

Conclusion
As the principal sacred text of the Sikhs, Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the pivot of their religious and social life. It is not merely a text bejeweled with sacred words and phrases, it is for Sikhs the mystic personality, the person visible of the Gurus. Students of religion will find in it much that is in consonance with the richest spiritual experience of mankind. Also, much is to be found in the text which points to contemporary concerns of a broad humanitarian doctrine based on truth, compassion, and justice. Let's celebrate Granth Sahib Parkash Purab 2024 with zeal and enthusiasm, go to your nearest Gurudwara, and listen to the Kirtan, Katha. Keep doing your nitnem and May Waheguru bless you with the eternal state of blissfulness.
