2. 👤 About the Author—Sardar Raghbir Singh Bir
Sardar Raghbir Singh Bir (born in 1896) was a Sikh poet and thinker, admired for his beautiful work Bandgi Nama. Since he was a child, his grandmother directed him to meditate on God and devoted his life to spiritual practice, even when he was a householder.
After finishing at Khalsa College in Amritsar, he made a name for himself through his poetic and devotional works. At the end of 1940, he started the Atam Science Trust in Calcutta to increase education about Sikh spirituality and published a monthly magazine called Atam Science.
By sharing Bandgi Nama, written in Punjabi (Gurmukhi) and then translated into English, Sardar Raghbir Singh reveals his own spiritual stories and thoughts on Simran as well as his wide knowledge of Guru Granth Sahib. The teachings he left behind are still valuable for those who want to realize themselves.
From 1968 until his death in 1974, he was at Dagshai, occupied with meditation, helping others, and working on writings.
