English Translation

(Satgur Ki Parteet Na Aayia)

Slok Mahalla 3rd: O, Brother! No one has ever been satisfied or convinced without the Guru's guidance, and developing the love of the Guru's Word. Even if someone were born in this world a hundred times, he cannot enjoy real bliss (without the Guru's O, Nanak! Let us also inculcate the love of the True Master in our hearts, as it is only the Guru-minded persons, who (unite with) attain the Lord in the state of equipoise. (1)

Mahalla 3rd:

O, my mind! Let us seek (and meet) such a Guru, through whose service, we could escape the torture of the cycle of births and deaths. By (burning) casting away our egoistic tendencies through the Guru's Word, we could get rid of all our doubts and misgivings, as the partition wall of falsehood between us and the Lord is removed in the heart (within) automatically. Thus an individual engages himself in his daily chores (functions) with truthfulness and a disciplined mind and enjoys the peace and tranquillity of mind along with a blissful life.

O, Nanak! It is through the Grace of the Lord that we get united with the True Guru through the Lord's Will and we could attain Truth (True Lord) only when we are fortunate enough, being predestined by the Lord's Will, due to our good and perfect actions. (2)

Pouri:

The person, who has the support of the Lord in his heart, controls the whole world as such a Guru-minded person does not need the help or support of any individual and his writ runs in the world. In fact, the whole world pays obeisance to their lotus feet due to their strength of the Lord's support. If someone depends on the support of (human beings) individuals, then one might wriggle out of this bondage to get out of the Lord's ordains (Lord's Will) and everyone has finally to take shelter at the lotus feet of the Lord.

The holy saints are imbued with the love of the Lord who is the supporter of all and arrange to bring all the men to pay obeisance to them for seeking the support of the saints. Very few fortunate persons have imbibed the love of the Lord's True Name in their hearts and only such Guru-minded persons have recited the True Name. The honor and acclaim gained through the recitation of True Name are attained by a few fortunate persons only. (14)

Punjabi Translation

(Satgur Ki Parteet Na Aayia) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣਿਆ ਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ, ਭਾਵੇਂ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸ) ਸੌ ਵਾਰੀ ਆਵੇ ਜਾਏ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਵ ਜੋੜੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸਹਿਜੇ ਹੀ ਮਿਲ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਖੋਜ ਕੇ ਲੱਭ, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ; ਕਦੇ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤੇ (ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਹਉਮੈ ਸੜ ਜਾਏ; ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਕੂੜ ਦੀ ਕੰਧ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਤੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚਾ ਹਰੀ ਆ ਵੱਸੇ, ਅਤੇ ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਉਸ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ) ਸੰਜਮ ਵਿਚ ਸੱਚੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਹਰੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ (ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪੂਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ (ਸਭ ਦਾ) ਹਾਕਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਕਾਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦੀ, (ਸਗੋਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ (ਹੁੰਦਾ) ਹੈ।

ਮਾਣਸਾ ਕਿਅਹੁ ਦੀਬਾਣਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਨਸਿ ਭਜਿ ਨਿਕਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਣਹੁ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਥੈ ਜਾਇਆ ॥ ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਦੀਬਾਨੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਤਿਨਿ ਰਹਦੇ ਖੁਹਦੇ ਆਣਿ ਸਭਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਅਗੈ ਖਲਵਾਇਆ ॥ {ਪੰਨਾ 591}

ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਚਹਿਰੀ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੱਸ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਕਿਤੇ ਖਿਸਕ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਰੱਬ ਦੀ ਹਕੂਮਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਕਿੱਥੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ? ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹਾਕਮ ਹਰੀ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਸਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ "ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਖੁੰਹਦੇ" ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲਿਆ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੈ) ।

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ (ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਗੁਣ) ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਹੀ (ਨਾਮ) ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੪।

Hukamnama in Hindi

श्लोक महला ३॥ (Satgur Ki Parteet Na Aayia) जिस व्यक्ति की सतिगुरु पर श्रद्धा अथवा निष्ठा नहीं बनी और जो शब्द से प्रेम नहीं करता, उसे सुख की उपलब्धि नहीं होती, निसंदेह वह सौ बार दुनिया में आता (जन्म लेता) अथवा जाता (मरता) रहे। हे नानक! यदि गुरु के सान्निध्य में सच्चे परमेश्वर में सुरति लगाई जाए तो वह सहज स्वभाव ही प्राप्त हो जाता है॥ १॥

महला ३

हे मन ! ऐसे सतिगुरु की खोज कर लो, जिसकी सेवा करने से जन्म-मरण का दुःख दूर हो जाता है। गुरु को पाने से तब तुझे बिल्कुल भी दुविधा नहीं होगी और तेरा अहंकार शब्द के माध्यम से जल जाएगा। फिर झूठ की दीवार तेरे अन्तर से निकल जाएगी और तेरे मन में आकर सत्य का निवास हो जाएगा। सत्य की युक्ति अनुसार कर्म करने से तेरे अन्तर्मन के भीतर शांति एवं सुख हो जाएगा। हे नानक ! पूर्ण तकदीर से सतिगुरु तभी मिलता है, जब परमात्मा अपनी इच्छा से कृपा-दृष्टि करता है॥ २॥

पउड़ी

जिस व्यक्ति के हृदय-घर में न्यायदाता श्रीहरि रहता हो, उसकी मुट्ठी में तो सारी दुनिया ही आ जाती है। उस व्यक्ति को किसी की भी अनुसेवा करने की आवश्यकता नहीं होती, क्योंकि न्यायदाता श्रीहरि ही सारी दुनिया को लाकर उसके चरणों में झुका कर रख देता है। मनुष्यों के न्यायालय में से तो कोई भाग-दोड़कर निकल सकता है किन्तु श्रीहरि के न्यायालय में से कोई किधर जा सकता है ?

सो ऐसा श्रीहरि न्यायदाता बादशाह भक्तों के हृदय में निवास कर रहा है, जिसने शेष बचे-खुचे समस्त लोगों को भी लाकर भक्तों के समक्ष खड़ा कर दिया है। हरि-नाम की कीर्ति तकदीर से ही मिलती है और किसी विरले गुरुमुख ने ही उसका ध्यान किया है॥ १४॥
