ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਅਸਟਪਦੀਆ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ਘਰੁ ੨

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
"By the Grace of the Lord-Sublime, Truth personified & attainable through the Guru's guidance."

ਕੋਈ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਹਿ ਆਪੁ ਵੇਚਾਈ ॥੧॥
Koi Aan Milaavai, Mera Preetam Piaara
Hao Tis Pahi Aap Vechaaee.

O, Brother! I would offer myself as a sacrifice to the beloved friend (person) who would enable me to unite with the Guru (or surrender myself). (1)

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਖਣ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
O, Lord! If someone were to bestow on me the favor of uniting with (meeting) the Guru for perceiving the Lord's glimpse, then I could start reciting Your True Name. (Pause- 1)

ਜੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਦੁਖਿ ਭੀ ਤੁਝੈ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੨॥
O, Lord! Even if you were to bestow me with all the comforts, I would remember You all the time, but in case I was made to undergo sufferings, then even I would recite Your True Name. (2)

ਜੇ ਭੁਖ ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਇਤ ਹੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚਿ ਸੂਖ ਮਨਾਈ ॥੩॥
If the True Master were to keep me hungry or short of any facilities I would feel completely satiated. O, Lord! I would feel fully satisfied and pleased even if I were made to undergo any afflictions by taking all the ills in my stride. (3)

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਕਾਟਿ ਕਾਟਿ ਸਭੁ ਅਰਪੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਅਗਨੀ ਆਪੁ ਜਲਾਈ ॥੪॥
O, Lord! I would offer everything as a sacrifice to You and offer my body and (mind) soul in complete self-surrender (by cutting my body into pieces) to You, casting away my egoism even. (By burning it in fire). (4)

ਪਖਾ ਫੇਰੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਢੋਵਾ ਜੋ ਦੇਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਖਾਈ ॥੫॥
O, Lord! Then I would serve Your holy congregations by fanning them, or bringing water for them, and partake whatever food the saints would offer me to take. (5)

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗਰੀਬੁ ਢਹਿ ਪਇਆ ਦੁਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਲੈਹੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੬॥
O, Nanak! I have fallen at the Lord's lotus-feet being a helpless and poor man, with the request to unite me with Himself. O, Lord! Even this would amount to your Greatness and benevolence. (6)

ਅਖੀ ਕਾਢਿ ਧਰੀ ਚਰਣਾ ਤਲਿ ਸਭ ਧਰਤੀ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਤ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥
After wandering all over the world (Earth), I have gained the right advice and teachings from the Guru whom I would offer my very life including both the eyes at His lotus-feet (as my offering). (7)

ਜੇ ਪਾਸਿ ਬਹਾਲਹਿ ਤਾ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਜੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਕਢਹਿ ਭੀ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੮॥
O, Guru! Even ifYou were to bless me with Your Grace and allow me Your company (to sit at Your lotus-feet), I would sing Your praises only and would serve You only even though You may discard me from Your presence. (Being displeased with me) and throw me out. (8)

ਜੇ ਲੋਕੁ ਸਲਾਹੇ ਤਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਜੇ ਨਿੰਦੈ ਤ ਛੋਡਿ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੯॥
O, Guru! Even when people would praise You, it would reflect on Your Greatness (and praise) and I would sing Your praises. But if people were to vilify You indulging in Your slander, I would not forsake You and continue serving You (being at Your lotus-feet) (9)

ਜੇ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਤਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਿਹੁ ਆਖਉ ਤੁਧੁ ਵਿਸਰਿਐ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੦॥
O, Lord! I face spiritual death whenever I forget to remember You. But if my love for You continues to develop, I would not desert You even though people may talk anything against me, as it is of no consequence. (10)

ਵਾਰਿ ਵਾਰਿ ਜਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਪੈ ਪੈਰੀ ਸੰਤ ਮਨਾਈ ॥੧੧॥
I would offer myself as a sacrifice to the holy saints of the Guru and would serve them by falling at their lotus-feet and I would try to please them. (11)

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਭਇਆ ਦਿਵਾਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਤਉ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੈ ਤਾਈ ॥੧੨॥
Nanak! I am getting mad (with love) after having a glimpse of the Lord (Lord's vision). May the Lord bless this helpless person like me with His Grace and His glimpse! (12)

ਝਖੜੁ ਝਾਗੀ ਮੀਹੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੩॥
Even if there were a storm, I would proceed to meet my Guru or if it were raining, I woul~ go to meet the Guru, facing all the odds. In fact, all the obstacles like greed or worldly attachments would not deter me from meeting my Guru. (13)

ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਬਹੁ ਖਾਰਾ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਲੰਘਿ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੪॥

Even if the Guru's Sikhs have to cross the (horrible) oceans while proceeding to meet the Guru, they would not be hampered from their pursuit, in fact, they would face all the obstacles to meet the Guru. (14)

ਜਿਉ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਹੈ ਮਰਤਾ ਤਿਉ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧੫॥
The Guru's Sikh cannot live without having a glimpse of the Guru (without meeting the Guru), just as no being could exist without the supply of water and would die in its absence. (15)

ਜਿਉ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਭ ਕਰੇ ਜਲੁ ਬਰਸੈ ਤਿਉ ਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਿਗਸਾਈ ॥੧੬॥
The Sikh, on meeting the Guru, gets thrilled and enamored just as the Earth becomes full of greenery with the rainfall and blossoms forth. (16)

ਸੇਵਕ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਵਰਤਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਨਉ ਬੁਲਾਈ ॥੧੭॥
O, Lord! May I be bestowed with Your Grace so as to serve the slaves of Your slaves and address them with the greatest humility and regard. (17)

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਬੇਨੰਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੧੮॥
O, Nanak! My only supplication (prayer) to the Lord is to bless me with the c6mpany of the Guru so that I could enjoy the eternal bliss in His meeting. (18)

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਚੇਲਾ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਚੁ ਦੇ ਤੁਝਹਿ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧੯॥
O, Lord! You are all in all, being Yourself the Guru and the disciple even. I have always recited Your True Name only through the teachings of the Guru with the Guru's guidance. (19)

ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਤੂਹੈ ਹੋਵਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਕ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਾਈ ॥੨੦॥
O, Lord! You are pleased with those persons only, who serve You, as they become a part and parcel of your person only. (Your embodiment) then you have helped them (Your disciples) to find a place of honor with the Guru also. (They are acclaimed everywhere). (20)

ਭੰਡਾਰ ਭਰੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦੇਵਾਈ ॥੨੧॥
O, Lord! Your saints are the fountain-head of Your worship (True Name), but whosoever is blessed with Your Grace is enabled by You to attain the wealth of Your (worship) True Name, through the holy saints if it pleases You. (21)

ਜਿਸੁ ਤੂੰ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਜਨੁ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਰ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸਭ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥੨੨॥
All other clever moves or wisdom are of no use, as the man is not capable of gaining anything useful. But the person, who is bestowed with Your Grace, only attains this wealth of True Name. (22)

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਸੋਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਜਾਗਾਈ ॥੨੩॥
O, Brother! I would always remember the Guru and recite His True Name in this (present) age and the next age as well (in future also) which has awakened my mind from its slumber of ignorance (enlightened me). (23)

ਇਕੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵੇਚਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸੁ ਕਰਾਈ ॥੨੪॥
O, Nanak! I only seek one boon (blessing) from the Lord like a helpless (poor) person. O, Lord! May I be accepted as the slave of Your slaves! (24)

ਜੇ ਗੁਰੁ ਝਿੜਕੇ ਤ ਮੀਠਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਜੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਤ ਗੁਰ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੨੫॥
O, Brother! Even when the Guru is annoyed with me and rebukes me for my mistakes(misdeeds), I would accept it without murmur (with pleasure). However, if the Guru were to pardon my flaws, then it would show (result in) His Greatness (25)

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਸੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਏ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥੨੬॥
Whatever the Guru-minded persons say, is accepted by the Lord with pleasure, whereas whatever the self-willed persons say; goes to waste being totally neglected. (26)

ਪਾਲਾ ਕਕਰੁ ਵਰਫ ਵਰਸੈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਗੁਰ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਈ ॥੨੭॥
Even when it is severe cold accompanied by snowfall or hailstorm, the Guru's Sikh proceeds to join the company of the Guru, braving all these hurdles. (27)

ਸਭੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਦੇਖਉ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਅਖੀ ਗੁਰ ਪੈਰ ਧਰਾਈ ॥੨੮॥
O, Lord! May I be blessed with the glimpse of the Guru day and night (being united with the Guru) by bestowing on me enough strength and faith in Him? I would (place my eyes at His lotus-feet) serve the Guru with love and devotion during His movements. (28)

ਅਨੇਕ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਗੁਰ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ ॥੨੯॥
I would try my best to placate the Guru with all the possible means but whatever pleases the Guru, would be accepted by Him (the Lord). (29)

ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਅਰਾਧੀ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਈ ॥੩੦॥
O, my True Master! May I be bestowed with You Grace, so that I could inculcate the love of the lotus-feet of the Guru day and night in my heart! (Recite His True Name). (30)

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਅਘਾਈ ॥੩੧॥
O, Nanak! My body and soul belong to the Guru. I feel elated and thrilled by meeting the Guru and my mind is fully satiated with His meeting. (31)

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਹੈ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਤਤ ਗੋਸਾਈ ॥੩੨॥੧॥*
O, Nanak! My Lord pervades everywhere, being omnipresent. I perceive the same Lord prevailing everywhere I look around. In fact, the Lord is prevalent (pervading) in full measure all over the world. (32 - 1)

रागु सूही असटपदीआ महला ४ घर ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

अगर कोई मुझे प्रियतम प्यारे से मिला दे तो मैं उसके पास अपना आप बेच दूँगा ॥ १॥

मैं हरि का दर्शन करने के लिए इस तरह ही करूँगा। हे परमेश्वर ! यदि तू कृपा कर दे तो सतगुरु से मिलाप हो जाए और फिर तेरे नाम का ध्यान करता रहूँ॥ १॥ रहाउ॥

हे ईश्वर ! यदि तू मुझे सुख देता है तो मैं तेरी ही आराधना करता हूँ और दुख तकलीफ में भी तेरा ही चिंतन करता हूँ॥ २ ॥

तू मुझे भूखा रखता है तो मैं इससे भी तृप्त हो जाता हूँ और दुख में भी सुख की अनुभूति करता हूँ॥ ३॥

मैं अपना तन-मन काट-काटकर सबकुछ तुझे अर्पण कर दूँगा और अग्नि में खुद को जला दूँगा॥ ४॥

मैं संतजनों को पंखा करता हूँ, उनके लिए पानी ढोता हूँ और वही खाता हूँ जो मुझे देते हैं।॥ ५॥

हे हरि ! गरीब नानक तेरे द्वार पर नतमस्तक हो गया है, मुझे अपने साथ मिला लो, मुझे यही बड़ाई दो॥ ६॥

मैं सारी धरती घूम कर देखँगा, शायद मेरा गुरु मुझे मिल जाए। मैं अपनी ऑखें निकालकर उसके चरणों में रख दूँगा ॥ ७॥

यदि गुरु मुझे अपने पास बिठा ले तो तेरी ही आराधना करूँगा। यदि वह मुझे धक्के मार-मार कर निकाल भी देगा तो तेरा ही ध्यान करूँगा। ८ ।

यदि लोग मेरी सराहना करेंगे तो वह तेरी ही उपमा है। यदि निंदा-आलोचना करेंगे तो भी मैं तुझे छोड़कर नहीं जाऊँगा। ९ ॥

यदि तू मेरे साथ रहे तो मुझे क्या कह सकता है? तुझे भुलाने से तो मैं मर ही जाता हूँ॥ १०॥

मैं अपने गुरु पर शत कुर्बान जाता हूँ और पैरों पर पड़कर संतों को खुश करता हूँ॥ ११॥

हे हरि ! तेरे दर्शन करने के लिए बेचारा नानक तो दीवाना हो गया है। १२॥

चाहे सख्त ऑधी-तूफान आ जाए, चाहे मूसलाधार बारिश आ जाए तो भी गुरु के दर्शन करने के लिए जाता हूँ॥ १३॥

यदि बहुत खारा समुद्र-सागर हो तो भी गुरु का शिष्य उसे पार करके अपने गुरु के पास जाता है॥ १४॥

जैसे प्राणी जल के बिना मर जाता है, वैसे ही गुरु के बिना शिष्य मृत्यु को प्राप्त हो जाता है॥ १५॥

जैसे वर्षा होने से धरती सुन्दर लगती है, वैसे ही गुरु को मिलकर शिष्य प्रसन्न होता है॥ १६॥

मैं अपने गुरु के सेवकों का सेवक बनकर उनकी सेवा करता हूँ और विनती कर-करके उन्हें बुलाता हूँ॥ १७॥

नानक की प्रभु के पास विनती है कि मैं गुरु को मिलकर सुख प्राप्त करूँ॥ १८ ॥

हे ईश्वर ! तू आप ही गुरु है और आप ही शिष्य है। मैं गुरु के माध्यम से तेरा ही चिंतन करता रहता हूँ॥ १९॥

जो तेरी उपासना करते हैं, वे तेरा ही रूप बन जाते हैं। तुम अपने सेवकों की लाज बचाते आए हो ॥ २०॥

हे हरि ! तेरी भक्ति के भण्डार भरे पड़े हैं लेकिन जो तुझे भाता हैं, तू उसे गुरु से दिलवा देता है।॥ २१॥

जिसे तू देता है, तेरा वही सेवक इसे प्राप्त करता है और सब चतुराई निष्फल है॥ २२॥

मैंने गुरु को स्मरण कर-करके अपना अज्ञानता की नींद में मन जगा लिया है॥ २३॥

हे प्रभु ! नानक बेचारा तो तुझ से एक यही दान माँगता है कि मुझे अपने दासों का दास बना लो॥ २४॥

यदि मेरा गुरु मुझे किसी बात पर डॉटता है तो वह डॉट मुझे बड़ी मीठी लगती है। यदि मुझे क्षमा कर देता है तो यह गुरु का बड़प्पन है॥ २५ ॥

गुरुमुख जो बोलता है, वह प्रभु को स्वीकार हो जाता है लेकिन स्वेच्छाचारी इन्सान का वचन स्वीकार नहीं होता।॥ २६॥

यदि भयंकर शीत, कोहरा एवं बर्फ ही पड़ती हो तो भी गुरु का शिष्य गुरु के दर्शन करने जाता है॥ २७ ॥

मैं रात-दिन गुरु को देखता रहता हूँ, अपनी ऑखों में गुरु के चरण बसाकर रखता हूँ॥ २८ ॥

मैं अपने गुरु को खुश करने के लिए अनेक उपाय करता रहता हूँ। लेकिन जो गुरु को अच्छा लगता है, उसे वही मंजूर होता है॥ २९ ॥

हे मेरे मालिक ! मुझ पर ऐसी दया करो किं मैं दिन-रात गुरु के चरणों की आराधना करता रहूँ॥ ३०॥

गुरु ही नानक का जीवन एवं शरीर है और गुरु को मिलकर ही वह तृप्त एवं संतुष्ट होता है॥ ३१॥

नानक का प्रभु हर जगह मौजूद है, वह सृष्टि के कण-कण में व्याप्त है॥ ३२॥ १॥

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰੇਂ, (ਮੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇ ਕੋਈ (ਸੱਜਣ) ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਪ ਵੇਚ ਦਿਆਂ।੧।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਖ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਦੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਆਰਾਧਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।੨।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਰੱਖੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਭੁਖ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਰੱਜਿਆ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ, ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮੈਂ ਸੁਖ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਤ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ (ਤੇਰੀ ਇਹ ਮੇਹਰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ) ।੩।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਜੇ ਲੋੜ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਨ ਕੱਟ ਕੱਟ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ, ਅੱਗ ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਾੜ (ਭੀ) ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।੪।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਮੈਂ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਝਲਾਂਗਾ, ਪਾਣੀ ਢੋਵਾਂਗਾ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਖਾਣ ਲਈ) ਦੇਵੇਂਗਾ ਉਹੀ (ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਖਾ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ।੫।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਗਰੀਬ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਆ ਡਿੱਗਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਲੈ, ਤੇਰਾ ਇਹ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।੬।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਲੋੜ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਕੱਢ ਕੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ) ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠ ਰੱਖ ਦਿਆਂ, ਮੈਂ ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਉਤੇ ਭਾਲ ਕਰਾਂ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਇਦ ਕਿਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭ ਪਏ।੭।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਬਿਠਾਲ ਲਏਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਰਾਧਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ (ਧੱਕੇ) ਮਾਰ ਕੇ (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਕੱਢ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂਗਾ।੮।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਜਗਤ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਆਖੇਗਾ, ਤਾਂ (ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ) ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ, ਜੇ (ਤੇਰੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ) ਦੁਨੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰੇਗੀ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਮੈਂ (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।੯।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਬਣੀ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਬੇਸ਼ੱਕ ਕੋਈ ਕੁਝ ਭੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆ ਆਖੇ। ਪਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਸਰਿਆਂ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤੇ ਮਰ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ।੧੦।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ-ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।੧੧।

ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ (ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ) ਵਿਚਾਰਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਮਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੨।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਝੱਖੜ-ਹਨੇਰੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉਤੇ) ਝੱਲਣ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ, ਜੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਰ੍ਹਨ ਲੱਗ ਪਏ ਤਾਂ ਭੀ (ਵਰ੍ਹਦੇ ਮੀਂਹ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ) ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ।੧੩।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਖਾਰਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਭੀ ਲੰਘਣਾ ਪਏ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੰਘ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੪।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਆ ਗਈ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੫।

ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੀਂਹ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੬।

ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੇਨਤੀਆਂ ਕਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ) ਸੱਦਾਂਗਾ।੧੭।

ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹੈ (-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਵੱਡਾ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੮।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਧਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੧੯।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਰੂਪ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ (ਸਦਾ) ਰੱਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ।੨੦।

ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਤੇਰੇ ਪਾਸ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਭਰੇ ਪਏ ਹਨ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ) ਦਿਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ।੨੧।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਿਆਣਪ-ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ। ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਇਹ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ) ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨੨।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਹਰ ਨਾਲ) ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ ਕੇ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿਚ) ਸੁੱਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨੩।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਤੇਰਾ) ਗਰੀਬ (ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਇਕ ਦਾਨ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਹੈ-(ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖ।੨੪।

ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੁੱਲ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ) ਝਿੜਕ ਦੇਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਝਿੜਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਹੈ (ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਣ ਨਹੀਂ) ।੨੫।

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇਹੜੇ ਬਚਨ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।੨੬।

ਪਾਲਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਕੱਕਰ ਪਏ, ਬਰਫ਼ ਪਏ, ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨੭।

ਮੈਂ ਭੀ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੨੮।

ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ (ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਕਰਨ) ਵਾਸਤੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਜਤਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ਉਹੀ ਜਤਨ ਕਬੂਲ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਸੰਦ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੨੯।

ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਸਮ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਧਿਆਨ ਧਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ।੩੦।

ਨਾਨਕ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਰੱਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ) ।੩੧।

(ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਖਸਮ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।੩੨।੧।
