Sabh Jee Tere Tu Vartada

1. English Translation

Bihāgaṛā Mahallā 4
Sabh jīa tere tūn vartadā mere har prabh, tūn jāṇahi jo jīe kamāīai Rām.
Har antar bāhar nāl hai merī jinduṛīe, sabh vekhai man mukarāīai Rām.
Manmukhā no har dūr hai merī jinduṛīe, sabh birthī ghāl gavāīai Rām.
Jan Nānak gurmukh dhiāiā merī jinduṛīe, har hājar nadarī āīai Rām. ||1||

Bihagda Mahala - 4th ( Sabh Jee Tere Tu Vartada ) O, my Lord, True Master! All the beings in the world belong to You, as You pervade equally in all of them; and You know all our actions, whether good or bad. O, my soul! The Lord watches our actions though man normally denies having performed certain foul deeds. O, my soul! The self-willed persons always perceive the Lord at a distance and they waste all their efforts as they do not get any reward for their actions. O, Nanak! The Guru-minded persons always perceive the Lord close by. O, my soul! They have recited the Lord's True Name and meditated on Him. (1)

Se bhagat se sevak meri jinduriye
Jo Prabh mere man bhaane Raam.
Se Har dargeh painaaye meri jinduriye
Ahinis saach samaane Raam.
Tin kai sang mal utrai meri jinduriye
Rang raate nadar nisaane Raam.
Nanak ki Prabh benati meri jinduriye
Mil saadhoo sang aghaane Raam. ||2||

O, my soul! The saints and disciples only serve the True Master and are liked by the Lord. The Guru-minded persons, who are united with the Lord through meditation by day and night, are received with honor and receive robes of honor at the Lord's court. O, my soul! We could wash away the dirt of our minds in the company of such holy persons, as they are fully imbued with the love of the Lord, and they are bestowed by the Lord with His Grace, being His favorites. O, Nanak! My prayer to the Lord is that we may also get a glimpse of the Lord's vision by reciting the Lord's True Name in the company of holy saints and thus getting satiated. (2)

He rasna jap Gobindo meri jinduriye
Jap Har Har trisna jaaye Raam.
Jis da-i-aa kare mera Parbrahm meri jinduriye
Tis man Naam vasaaye Raam.
Jis bhete poora Satguru meri jinduriye
So Har dhan nidh paaye Raam.
Vadbhaagi sangat milai meri jinduriye
Nanak Har gun gaaye Raam. ||3||

O, my soul! Let us sing the praises of the Lord with the · tongue as all our desires would be fulfilled and the fire of more worldly possessions would die down (get extinguished). O, my soul! The Lord enables a person, on whom He showers His blessings and favors, to inculcate Lord's True Name in the heart, through His Grace. O, my soul! The person, who gets the company of a True Guru, gets the treasure of a glimpse of the Lord's vision. O, Nanak! The Guru-minded persons, who are fortunate and pre-destined by the Lord's Will, sing the Lord's praises in the company of holy saints. (3)

Thaan thanantar rav rahia meri jinduriye
Parbrahm Prabh daata Raam.
Ta ka ant na paaeeai meri jinduriye
Pooran purakh bidhaata Raam.
Sarab jeea pratipaalda meri jinduriye
Jio baalak pit maata Raam.
Sahas siyaanap nah milai meri jinduriye
Jan Nanak Gurmukh jaata Raam. ||4||6|| Chhaka 1 ||

O, my soul! The Lord-benefactor, who abides at a distant place and pervades everywhere at the same time, is omnipresent and prevails everywhere and in all beings in equal measure. O, my soul! No one knows the Lord's greatness or His limits, in fact, the perfect Master is to decide on our actions. O, my soul! The Lord sustains all beings in the same manner as the mother and father look after the child.

O, Nanak! No one could attain the Lord through one's cleverness or thousands of clever moves even. He could only be attained through the Guru's guidance, by meditating on the True Name of the Lord like the Guru-minded persons. (4-6-Chhaka-1)

2. Hindi Translation

बिहागड़ा महला ४ ॥ ( Sabh Jee Tere Tu Vartada ) हे मेरे हरि-प्रभु ! सभी जीव तेरे पैदा किए हुए हैं और सब के भीतर तू ही मौजूद है, ये जीव जो भी कर्म करते हैं, इस संबंध में तू सबकुछ जानता है। हे मेरी आत्मा ! हरि भीतर एवं बाहर सभी के साथ है तथा सबकुछ देखता है किन्तु अज्ञानी मानव अपने मन में किए पाप कर्मों से मुकर जाता है। हे मेरी आत्मा ! स्वेच्छाचारी लोगों से भगवान दूर ही रहता है तथा उनका तमाम परिश्रम निष्फल हो जाता है। हे मेरी आत्मा ! नानक ने गुरुमुख बनकर हरि की आराधना की है तथा वह हरि को हर तरफ प्रत्यक्ष ही देखता है॥ १॥

हे मेरी आत्मा ! वही सच्चे भक्त तथा सेवक हैं जो मेरे प्रभु के चित्त को लुभाते हैं। हे मेरी आत्मा ! हरि के दरबार में ऐसे सच्चे भक्तों एवं सेवकों को प्रतिष्ठा का वस्त्र पहनाया जाता है और वे रात-दिन सत्य में ही समाए रहते हैं। हे मेरी आत्मा ! उनकी संगति में रहने से विकारों की मैल उतर जाती है, जो प्राणी परमेश्वर के प्रेम-रंग में रंग जाता है और उस पर उसकी कृपा का चिन्ह अंकित हो जाता है। हे मेरी आत्मा ! नानक की प्रभु से विनती है कि वह साधुओं की संगति में रहकर तृप्त हो जाए॥ २॥

हे मेरी रसना ! परमात्मा का भजन कर, परमात्मा का भजन करने से तृष्णा मिट जाती है। हे मेरी आत्मा ! मेरा परब्रह्म जिस जीव पर भी दया करता है, वह उसके मन में अपने नाम को बसा देता है। जो व्यक्ति पूर्ण सतिगुरु से मिलता है, उसे हरि धन रूपी निधि प्राप्त हो जाती है। नानक का कथन है कि हे मेरी आत्मा ! सौभाग्य से ही सद्पुरुषों की संगति मिलती है, जहाँ भगवान का यशोगान होता रहता है।॥ ३॥

हे मेरी आत्मा ! परब्रह्म-प्रभु सब जीवों का दाता विश्व के कोने-कोने में बस रहा है, उसका अन्त नहीं पाया जा सकता है क्योंकि वह पूर्ण अकालपुरुष विधाता है। हे मेरी आत्मा ! वह सब जीवों का ऐसे भरण-पोषण करता है जैसे माता-पिता अपने बालक की परवरिश करते हैं। हे मेरी आत्मा ! हजारों चतुराईयों का प्रयोग करने पर भी परमात्मा नहीं मिलता किन्तु नानक ने गुरुमुख बनकर ईश्वर को समझ लिया है॥ ४॥ ६॥ छका १॥

3. Punjabi Translation

ਸਭ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹੈਂ। ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਬਾਹਰੋਂ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਝੂਠ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ (ਮਨਮੁਖ), ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਇਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਉਹੀ ਸੱਚੇ ਭਗਤ ਤੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਪੈਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਸਚ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਬਣਦੇ ਹਨ। ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਤ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੁੱਖ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਵੇ।

ਹੇ ਜੀਭ! ਤੂੰ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀਏ! ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਨਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾਮ ਟਿਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦੌਲਤ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ—ਉਹ ਰੱਬ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਸਭ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅੰਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਰਚਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮਾਤਾ-ਪਿਤਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਚਤੁਰਾਈਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਭੀ ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ—ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।
