Poetic Translation
Allah first created the light,
All are the offsprings of His might.
While the whole universe has the same source, Who is evil and who is upright? (1)
Don't be misled brothers,
The Creator is in the creation, And the creation is in the Creator. He pervades all over. (1)
The clay remains the same, The potter carves pots of various order.
There is nothing wrong with the pots, Nor is there anything amiss with the Potter. (2)
The True One alone prevails,
What He does must entail.
He who is disciplined and trusts the only One, He is indeed the ideal son. (3)

Lines 1 & 2: Origin of the Universe (ਕਉਨ ਭਲੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਦੇ)
अव्वल अलह नूर उपाया कुदरत के सभ बंदे ॥
एक नूर ते सभ जग उपजिआ कौन भले को मंदे ॥१॥
सबसे पहले अल्लाह (ईश्वर) ने अपना नूर (प्रकाश) पैदा किया, और इस कुदरत (प्रकृति) के सभी मनुष्य उसी के बनाए बंदे हैं। उस एक ही नूर से यह सारा संसार उत्पन्न हुआ है, तो फिर इनमें से किसे अच्छा कहा जाए और किसे बुरा? ॥१॥

सब जीवों में वही एक सच्चा प्रभु वास कर रहा है, और जो कुछ भी संसार में होता है, सब उसी का किया हुआ होता है। जो मनुष्य उसके हुकम (इच्छा/रजा) को पहचान लेता है, वह केवल उसी एक को जानता है; असल में उसी को सच्चा बंदा (सेवक) कहा जाना चाहिए ॥३॥

The Lord created awareness in the universe through His light first (enlightenment) and then created all the human beings through the Nature. The whole world came into existence through the light of the one Prime-soul, then how could some persons be considered pious (virtuous) and some others as vicious (sinful) (1)
O Men of the world! Do not be misled into wrong beliefs? The fact remains that the Lord pervades everywhere uniformly and the creator exists (abides) in His creation, while the creation (the universe) exists only in the formless Creator. (Both form part of one and the same Truth, the Prime-soul). (Pause -1)
The Lord Creator has created the whole universe in different forms of life with the same elements (Earth) and neither there is any flaw in the earthen wares (beings) created by the Lord, nor is there any flaw with the creator (the potter) who has created different earthen wares (beings) or with His created beings. (2)
The some True Lord abides in all the beings and whatever we perceive around us, is His own creation. The true and worthy person is one, who relaises the Lord's Will as supreme and through this belief attains the True Lord also. (3)
The Guru has given the true and sweet message that the formless Lord is too great and beyond our comprehension, whom no one could ever describe. O Kabir ! All my doubts and misgivings have disappeared when I perceived the same Lord (free from Maya) pervading everywhere in equal measure. (4-3)

ਜਿੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਸਲੇ ਦਾ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਤਾਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਦੇ ਭਾਂਡਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵਾਂ) ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਨੁਕਸ, ਕਮੀ ਜਾਂ ਊਣਤਾਈ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਸ ਘੁਮਿਆਰ (ਕਰਤਾਰ) ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਕਸੂਰ ਜਾਂ ਘਾਟ ਹੈ। ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਸਮਾਨ ਖੇਡ ਹੈ।੨॥

ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਅਦੁੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੱਕ ਰੂਪ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਜਗ੍ਹਾ-ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਉਸੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਣੇ (ਰਜ਼ਾ) ਨੂੰ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਉਸ ਇੱਕ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਅਸਲ ਸਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ ਜਾਂ ਸੱਚਾ ਦਾਸ (ਸੇਵਕ) ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਉਹ ਅਲੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ) ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੁਕੰਮਲ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨ ਰੂਪੀ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਗੁੜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ (ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸੁਆਦ ਤਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਪਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਿਕ ਅਨੰਦ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ)।
ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਸੰਦੇਹ (ਭਰਮ) ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਾਇਆ-ਰਹਿਤ (ਪਵਿੱਤਰ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ, ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵੇਖ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਜਾਤ-ਪਾਤ ਜਾਂ ਊਚ-ਨੀਚ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਭੇਦਭਾਵ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਿਹਾ।੪।੩।

The shabad Awal Allah Noor Upaya is one of the most universal teachings of Gurbani, focusing on the recognition of the One Divine Light in all creation. Bhagat Kabir Ji gives a message in simple words which changes the perception of a person.
The first message is strong: All beings are born from the same Noor (Divine light). If the source is one, then the divisions that are made by the human ego are insignificant.
The shabad challenges the practice of putting people into categories of high or low, pure or impure, better or worse. Gurbani says, "The value of a person is not determined by their outer identity but by the awareness of the Divine within."
