ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀ ਕੀ ॥ ਤਪਿ ਤਪਿ ਲੁਹਿ ਲੁਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਮਰੋਰਉ ॥ ਬਾਵਲਿ ਹੋਈ ਸੋ ਸਹੁ ਲੋਰਉ ॥ ਤੈ ਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਕੀਆ ਰੋਸੁ ॥ ਮੁਝੁ ਅਵਗਨ ਸਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਦੋਸੁ ॥੧॥ ਤੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਮੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਨੀ ॥ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਖੋਇ ਪਾਛੈ ਪਛੁਤਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਾਲੀ ਕੋਇਲ ਤੂ ਕਿਤ ਗੁਨ ਕਾਲੀ ॥ ਅਪਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੇ ਹਉ ਬਿਰਹੈ ਜਾਲੀ ॥ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਬਿਹੂਨ ਕਤਹਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥ ਜਾ ਹੋਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥ ਵਿਧਣ ਖੂਹੀ ਮੁੰਧ ਇਕੇਲੀ ॥ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਸਾਥੀ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਬੇਲੀ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲੀ ॥ ਜਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਅਲਹੁ ਬੇਲੀ ॥੩॥ ਵਾਟ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਖਰੀ ਉਡੀਣੀ ॥ ਖੰਨਿਅਹੁ ਤਿਖੀ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਪਿਈਣੀ ॥ ਉਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੈ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥ ਸੇਖ ਫਰੀਦਾ ਪੰਥੁ ਸਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰਿ ਸਵੇਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਰਾਗੁ ਸੂਹੀ ਸ਼ਬਦ ॥ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ ਜੀ ਦੇ ॥ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੇਵਲ ਇਕ ਹੈ ॥ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਇਆ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਉਹ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਸੜਦੀ ਤੇ ਮਚਦੀ ਹੋਈ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਮਰੋੜਦੀ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਉਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਦੀ ਹੋਈ ਮੈਂ ਕਮਲੀ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਤੂੰ, ਹੇ ਕੰਤ! ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੁੱਸੇ ਹੈਂ ॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਤ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਕਸੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਰੀ ਕਦਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ ॥ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੁਆਨੀ ਗੁਆ ਕੇ, ਮੈਂ ਮਗਰੋਂ ਪਸਚਾਤਾਪ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਠਹਿਰਾਉ ॥ ਹੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਕੋਕਲੇ! ਕਿਹੜਿਆਂ ਲੱਛਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਆਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਛੋੜੇ ਨੇ ਸਾੜ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ ਹੈ ॥ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਰਤੇ ਦੇ ਬਿਨਾਂ, ਉਹ ਕਦੇ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਰਾਮ ਪਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ? ਜਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਖੂਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੱਲਮਕੱਲੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਭੋਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ॥ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਾਂ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਥਣ ਹੈ, ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੱਜਣੀ ॥ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਕੇ, ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਤਿ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਜਦ ਮੈਂ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਮਦਦਗਾਰ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਬੜਾ ਉਦਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਮਾਰਗ, ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਟੁਰਨਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਇਹ ਖੰਡੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਤੇਜ਼ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਹਾਇਤ ਹੀ ਤੰਗ ਹੈ ॥ ਉੇਸ ਦੇ ਉਪਰ ਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਸਤਾ ॥ ਹੇ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਫਰੀਦ! ਜਿੰਨੀ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੋ ਸਕੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਖਿਆਲ ਕਰ ॥

English Translation

Rag Suhi Bani Seikh Farid Ji Ki ( Tap Tap Luhe Luhe Hath Marorau... )
"By the Grace of the Lord-sublime, Truth personified & attainable through the Guru's guidance."

O, dear friend! I am madly in search of my Lord -spouse and am in great suffering, completely disappointed and restless with clasped hands, but I fail to understand the true position. I cannot blame my Lord-spouse as I must have some flaws and shortcomings and that is why the Lord-spouse was annoyed with me and got enraged. (1)

O, friend! I have wasted my life without enjoying the conjugal bliss of the Lord spouse, as I never realized His Greatness, and my youth was spent without uniting with the Lord spouse. What is the use of repenting now? (1)

O black koel (bird)! What has gone wrong with you that you have been reduced to this blackened shape and what sins were committed by you. The reply was, O friend! I have been reduced to this condition, having been separated from my beloved mate, and am burning in this (separation) disappointment. How could anyone enjoy eternal bliss without the love of the Lord-spouse, having been separated from Him? The Lord would arrange to unite us with Himself only when He blesses us with His Grace. (2)

This world is like a deep and horrible well, and this human being is lost alone in this depth, where there is no other friend or companion to help him out. Ô Lord! I have joined the company of holy saints through Your Grace, and I perceive the friendly Lord everywhere I look around. (3)

O Sheikh Farid! My route (path)is very arduous and difficult and is just like treading on a razor blade with a sharp edge. It is rather difficult for me to proceed on this path which is very rough and difficult terrain. O Farid! Let us (be careful to) think of that horrible path and mend ourselves. (4-1)

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥ राग सूही बाणी सेख फरीद जी की ॥ तप तप लुहि लुहि हाथ मरोरउ ॥ बावल होई सो सहु लोरउ ॥ तै सहि मन महि कीआ रोस ॥ मुझ अवगन सह नाही दोस ॥१॥ तै साहिब की मै सार न जानी ॥ जोबन खोइ पाछै पछुतानी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ काली कोइल तू कित गुन काली ॥ अपने प्रीतम के हउ बिरहै जाली ॥ पिरहि बिहून कतहि सुख पाए ॥ जा होइ क्रिपाल ता प्रभू मिलाए ॥२॥ विधण खूही मुंध इकेली ॥ ना को साथी ना को बेली ॥ कर किरपा प्रभ साधसंगि मेली ॥ जा फिर देखा ता मेरा अलहु बेली ॥३॥ वाट हमारी खरी उडीणी ॥ खंनिअहु तिखी बहुत पिईणी ॥ उस ऊपर है मारग मेरा ॥ सेख फरीदा पंथ सम्हार सवेरा ॥४॥१॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥ राग सूही बाणी सेख फरीद जी की ॥ विरह की आग में जलती मैं हाथ मरोड़ती हूँ और बावली हुई प्रभु-मिलन की अभिलाषा करती हूँ। हे प्रभु ! तूने अपने मन में मेरे साथ गुस्सा किया है। तेरा कोई दोष नहीं है, अपितु मुझ में ही अनेक अवगुण हैं।॥ १॥ तू मेरा मालिक है, मगर मैंने तेरा महत्व नहीं जाना। मैं अपना यौवन गंवा कर अब पछता रही हूँ॥ १॥ रहाउ॥ हे काली कोयल ! तू केिस कारण काली हो गई है ? कोयल कहती है कि मुझे मेरे प्रियतम के विरह ने जला दिया है। अपने प्रियतम से विहीन होकर वह कैसे सुख पा सकती है। जब प्रभु कृपालु होता है तो वह जीव-स्त्री को स्वयं ही अपने साथ मिला लेता है॥ २॥ मैं जीव-स्त्री अकेली ही इस भयानक संसार रूपी कुएं में गिर गई हूँ। यहाँ मेरा न कोई साथी है और न कोई बेली है! प्रभु ने कृपा करके मुझे साधु-संगत में मिला दिया है। जब फेिर मैंने देखा तो वेली बनकर अल्लाह मेरे साथ खड़ा था ॥ ३॥ हमारा (भक्ति) मार्ग वड़ा ही उदास करने वाला अर्थात् कठिन है। यह कृपाण की धार से तीक्ष्ण एवं बड़ा नुकीला है। उसके ऊपर मेरा मार्ग है। हे शेख फरीद ! अपने जीवन की सुबह ही अपना पथ संवार ले ॥ ४॥ १॥
