Baba Zorawar Singh Ji was the youngest son and the last Sahibzada of the 10th Sikh guru Guru Gobind Singh Ji. His birth was on the date of 28th November in the year 1696 at Anandpur Sahib. He along with his elder brother Sahibzada Fateh Singh and grandmother Mata Gujri Ji were major protagonists of Sikh history in troubled times of the late 17th and early 18th.
Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji, his brother and grandmother suffered a lot when Wazir Khan was persecuting the Sikhs in 1705. They fell into the hands of the Mughals and, very young, they stood still in their faith. However, the young Sahibzadas underwent extremely hard trials but did not abandon their Sikhism. However, they ended up being bricked alive inside a wall without deviating from sikh principles.
Sikhs celebrate Shaheedi Diwas (Martyrdom Day) on December 26, when they remember their martyrdom. The life and sacrifice made by him still inspire generations. These stand for courage, faith, and commitment.
Let us take the lessons of courage and selflessness from the life of Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji. This day reminds us that love and virtue can succeed despite the challenges, a day to revive the love and empathy within our hearts. Happy Birthday, Sahibzada Ji! 🎂🙏
