Bed Puraan Sabhe Mat Sun Kai, Kari Karam Ki Aasa
Kaal Grast Sabh Lok Syaane, Uth Pandit Pai Chale Nirasa ॥1॥

Man Re Saryo Na Ekai Kaaja
Bhajio Na Raghupati Raaja ॥1॥ Rahao ॥

O, Brother! By listening to or studying the Vedas and Puranas and following their instructions, man learns to lead this life in performing formal rituals only but all these wise men have not escaped from the fear of death, and have finally left this world in despair and disappointment. ( 1)

O, my mind! You have not been able to complete even a single job (function), why could you not recite the Lord's True Name even? (What else could you do? ) (Pause- 1)

Some people perform penance (austerities of various types)and Yoga by going to the forests and living on herbs or green leaves in the jungles, without attaining the secret of life or the Truth. All the various mendicants and sadhus, including those blowing their(horns), trumpet listening to mystic sounds, studying Vedas, or those shouting "Alakh Niranjan", all those belonging to the cult of uttering one word, indulging in silence, finally get caught by the Yama (god of death) and face death. (2)

All these people have not realized the truth of the Lord's worship or His love and hand over this body to the Yama after looking after its maintenance (for so long). There are some others, who sing various (Ragas or Ragnis) tunes and get themselves worshipped, posing as religious leaders. They are engrossed in the love of the worldly falsehood and their own praise, so they are not really interested in following the right path without realizing the Lord. (3)

All these learned men, engrossed in whims and fancies, without realizing the Lord, are finally caught by the Yama (god of death) as such the whole world has been controlled by death and Yama. O, Kabir! The persons, who have attained the love of theLord, being Lord's saints, have attained salvation, having got rid of the worldly bondage. (4-3)

3. Punjabi Translation

(Bed Puran Sabhe Mat Sun Kai) ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼-ਰੂਪ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਤੈਥੋਂ ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਕੰਮ ਭੀ (ਜੋ ਕਰਨ-ਜੋਗ ਸੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਿਆ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਆਦਿਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਮਤ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਰੱਖੀ, (ਇਹ ਆਸ ਰੱਖੀ ਕਿ ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡ ਨਾਲ ਜੀਵਨ ਸੌਰੇਗਾ) , ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਮੌਤ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਗ੍ਰਸੇ ਰਹੇ। ਪੰਡਿਤ ਲੋਕ ਭੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਹੀ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਚਲੇ ਗਏ (ਜਗਤ ਤਿਆਗ ਗਏ) ।੧।

ਕਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਜੋਗ ਸਾਧੇ, ਤਪ ਕੀਤੇ, ਗਾਜਰ-ਮੂਲੀ ਆਦਿਕ ਚੁਣ ਖਾ ਕੇ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ; ਜੋਗੀ, ਕਰਮ-ਕਾਂਡੀ, 'ਅਲੱਖ' ਆਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੋਗੀ, ਮੋਨਧਾਰੀ-ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਮ ਦੇ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਡਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ) ।੨।

ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਤਾਂ (ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ) ਚੱਕਰ ਆਦਿਕ ਲਾ ਲਏ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਈ, ਜੋ ਰਾਗ ਰਾਗਨੀਆਂ ਤਾਂ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਨਿਰਾ ਪਖੰਡ-ਮੂਰਤੀ ਹੀ ਬਣ ਬੈਠਾ ਹੈ, ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।੩।

ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਾਲ ਦਾ ਸਹਿਮ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਭਰਮੀ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਭੀ ਉਸੇ ਹੀ ਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਿਖੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ (ਉਹ ਭੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਮ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹਨ) । ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਆਖ-ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਸਮਝ ਲਈ ਹੈ ਉਹ (ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਮ ਤੋਂ) ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।੪।੩।

4. Hukamnama in Hindi

बेद पुरान सभै मत सुन कै, करी करम की आसा
काल ग्रस्त सभ लोक सियाने, उठ पंडित पै चले निरासा ॥1॥

मन रे सरिओ न एकै काजा
भजिओ न रघुपति राजा ॥1॥ रहाउ ॥

(Bed Puran Sabhe Mat Sun Kai) वेदों एवं पुराणों के समस्त मत सुनकर हमें भी कर्म करने की आशा उत्पन्न हुई किन्तु सभी चतुर लोगों को काल (मृत्यु) ग्रस्त देखकर पण्डितों से निराश होकर आ गए हैं।॥१॥ हे मन! तुम्हारा तो एक भी कार्य सम्पूर्ण नहीं हो सका, चूंकि तूने राम का भजन ही नहीं किया॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

बन खंड जाइ जोग तप कीनो, कंद मूल चुन खाया
नादी बेदी सबदी मोनी, जम के पटै लिखाया ॥2॥

भगत नारदी रिदै न आई, काछ कूछ तन दीना
राग रागनी डिंभ होइ बैठा, उन हरि पहि क्या लीना ॥3॥

परिओ काल सभै जग ऊपर, माहि लिखे भ्रम ग्यानी
कहु कबीर जन भए खालसे, प्रेम भगत जिन्ह जानी ॥4॥3॥

कुछ लोग वनों में जाकर योग साधना एवं तपस्या करते हैं और कदमूल चुन कर खाते हैं। सिंगी का नाद बजाने वालेयोगी , वेदों में बताए कर्मकाण्ड़ करने वाले वेदी ,अलख-अलख बोलने वाले साधु एवं मौनी मृत्यु के रजिस्टर में दर्ज हैं।॥२॥

प्रेमा-भक्ति तो मनुष्य के हृदय में प्रविष्ट नहीं हुई और उसने अपने तन को बना संवार कर ही मृत्यु को सौंप दिया है। वह तो केवल राग-रागनियों को धारण करने वाला ढोंगी ही बनकर बैठता है किन्तु उसमें उसे प्रभु से क्या मिल सकता है?॥३॥

मौत का खौफ समूचे जगत के ऊपर मंडरा रहा है और भ्रम में पड़े हुए ज्ञानी भी मृत्यु के रजिस्टर में लिखे हुए हैं। हे कबीर ! जिन्होंने प्रेमा-भक्ति को समझ लिया है, वे मुक्त हो गए हैं॥४॥३॥
