Bilawal Mahala First ( Main Man Chao Ghana )

I have been pining and longing for the Lord (for His glimpse) and now having attained the Truth (True Lord), I am thrilled with the attainment of the Lord. I have been enamored by the love of the imperishable Lord, whose unison is rather impossible and who is the True Master of the Masters (Naths) even, being the greatest. (among all). Whatever pleases Him as per His Will, comes to pass and happens in the universe.

The Lord-benefactor is the bestower of all benedictions through His Grace and all the beings (live) exist depending on His support, being present within all the souls. I have been imbued with the love of the True Name of the Lord without having any other knowledge of the Lord's worship including meditation. O, Nanak! I have sought the support of the True Lord, and as such I do not recognize any other mode of prayers like formal rituals of forced meditation. (1)

Once we started a life of love and devotion for the Lord (with full faith) the days and nights became very pleasant and fruitful. It is only when the Lord enables us to awaken from the slumber of ignorance through His love, that life becomes fruitful Thus such a youthful devotee, awakened through the Guru's guidance like the beautiful woman with her youthful spouse, is loved by the Lord-spouse.

Such a person having gotten rid of his dual-mindedness, falsehood, or deceit, develops love of the Lord, leaving the worship of all other gods and goddesses or the service of the others. I have been wearing the necklace of the Lord's True Name around my neck (I have developed the love of the Lord in my heart) and the recitation of True Name is my main occupation (and authority to enter the Lord's presence). O, Nanak! May the Lord bestow the nectar of True Name on us through His Grace, as that is our only prayer! (2)

O, beautiful friend! Let us recite True Name through the Guru's Word (Gurbani) and sing the praises of the Lord by waking from the slumber of ignorance. Only those persons who have followed the Guru's Word after listening to it have accepted the truth of the story of the Lord, who is indescribable. But only a few Guru-minded persons have realized the True message of the Guru in the form of the story of the indescribable Lord, thus attaining the fourth state of bliss and equipoise.

Thus by ridding themselves of egoism, such persons are immersed in the love of the Guru's Word, which has given them the whole secret of the three worlds through the Guru's guidance. Such a person, engrossed in the love of the Lord, remains detached from the world, having known the virtues of the Lord. O, Nanak! We have remembered (worshipped) the Lord by inculcating His love in the heart, as He is pervading everywhere in full measure, omnipresent, thus gaining salvation. (3)

The person, who has inculcated the love of the Lord in his heart, has been invited by the Lord in His presence (to His palace) as he is engaged in His worship. By following Guru's teachings he enjoys the bliss of life and attains salvation in this (human form) life itself. The persons, who have got immersed in the Lord's True Name by curbing the mind, have realized the True Master of the three worlds and attained salvation.

Such persons never falter from the path of Truth or the True Lord as they have realized the True Lord only, and their mind is always steady in His love. O, Lord! I have always sought Your support only as I have got Your might at my back and it is my strength. O, Nanak! The person, who has attained the True Lord by reciting True Name, has been freed from the bondage of the cycle of births and deaths through the Guru's guidance. (4- 2)

ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ( Main Man Chao Ghana ) ਅਬਿਨਾਸ਼ੀ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ (ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ) ਪ੍ਰੇਮ (ਦੀ ਖਿੱਚ ਨਾਲ) ਮਸਤ ਕਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਵਿਚ (ਟਿਕ ਕੇ) ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਤ ਚਾਉੇ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਵੱਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ) ਨਾਥਾਂ ਦਾ (ਭੀ) ਨਾਥ ਹੈ, (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਉਹ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਮਿਹਰ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਦਇਆ ਦਾ ਸੋਮਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਭ ਦਾਤਾਂ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਤੂੰ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜਿੰਦ ਹੈਂ।

ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੀ) ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਧਰਮ-ਚਰਚਾ, ਕੋਈ ਸਮਾਧੀ, ਕੋਈ ਦੇਵ-ਪੂਜਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੁੱਝਦੀ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ!) ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਟਿਕਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ (ਇਸ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ) ਮੈਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੇਖ, ਕੋਈ ਤੀਰਥ-ਰਟਨ, ਕੋਈ ਹਠ-ਜੋਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦੀ।੧।॥

ਹੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਏ! ਵੇਖ, ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ) ਸੁਚੇਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ-ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਭਿੱਜੀ ਹੋਈ ਉਸ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨੂੰ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀਆਂ) ਰਾਤਾਂ ਤੇ ਦਿਨ ਸਭ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਨਾਸਵੰਤ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ, ਠੱਗੀ-ਫ਼ਰੇਬ, ਮਾਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਦਤ, ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਸਹੇਲੀਏ! ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਗਲ ਵਿਚ ਹਾਰ (ਪਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਗਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ (ਮੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ਹੈ। ਨਾਨਕ (ਦੋਵੇਂ) ਹੱਥ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੋਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੰਗਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਅਤੇ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ-ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ!) ਜੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਲੱਗੇ (ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਨਾਮ ਦੇਹ) ।੨।

ਹੇ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਨੇਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਏ! ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਲਿਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ) ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਰਹੁ, (ਤੈਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜਗਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਜਿਸ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਨੇ (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚ) ਸਰਧਾ ਬਣਾਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅਕੱਥ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅਕੱਥ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਆਤਮਕ ਦਰਜੇ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕੋਈ ਵਾਸਨਾ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ।

ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ (ਗੁਰਮੁਖ) ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਬੇਅੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ) ਵਿਚ ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ (ਵੱਸਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) , ਉਹ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਭਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।੩।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰ ਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚੀ ਹੋਈ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਏ! ਜਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ। (ਜਿਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਤਿ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ) ਸਰੀਰ ਸਫਲ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

(ਜਿਹੜੀ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ) ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਹ (ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ) ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਸਾਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ। (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ) ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਵਲ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ (ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ) ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ (ਹੀ) ਮੇਰਾ ਖਸਮ ਹੈਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਆਸਰਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਸਹਾਰਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਸਦਾ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) ਉਹ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ (ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ) ਖਹ-ਖਹ ਮੁਕਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੨।

5. Hindi Translation

बिलावलु महला १ ॥ ( Main Man Chao Ghana ) हे सखी ! मेरे मन में बड़ा चाव उत्पन्न हो गया है, मैं सत्य द्वारा खिली रहती हूँ। अविनाशी प्रभु के प्रेम ने मुझे मोह लिया है। अटल परमात्मा नाथों का नाथ है, जो उसे भाता है, वही होता है। हे दाता ! तू सदैव कृपालु एवं दयालु है और सब जीवों के अन्दर तू ही जीवन रूप में है। मैं किसी ज्ञान, ध्यान एवं पूजा को नहीं मानती, हरि-नाम मेरे मन में बस रहा है। हे नानक ! मैं किसी भेष, तीर्थ एवं हठयोग को नहीं मानती, क्योंकि मैंने सत्य को ग्रहण कर लिया है॥ १॥

प्रभु के प्रेम में भीगी हुई जीव-स्त्री को अपने जीवन की रातें बहुत अच्छी लगती हैं और दिन भी सुन्दर लगते हैं। अपनी अन्तरात्मा में अज्ञान की निद्रा में सोई हुई जीव-स्त्री को प्रभु प्रेम जगा देता है। नवयौवना नारी शब्द द्वारा जाग गई है और अपने प्रियतम को अच्छी लगने लगी है। मैंने झूठ, कपट, द्वैतभाव एवं लोगों की चाकरी छोड़कर हरि-नाम का हार अपने गले में डाल लिया है, अब सच्चे शब्द का परवाना मुझे मिल गया है। हे प्रभु ! नानक दोनों हाथ जोड़कर तुझसे सत्य ही माँगता है, यदि तुझे भला लगे तो कृपा-दृष्टि कर दो ॥ २॥

हे सलोनी ! अज्ञान की निद्रा से जागकर गुरुवाणी का पाठ कर। जिसने मन लगाकर अकथनीय कहानी सुनी है, उसने अकथनीय कहानी सुनकर निर्वाण पद पा लिया है। इस तथ्य को कोई विरला गुरुमुख ही बूझता है। वह शब्द में लीन होकर अपना अहंत्व दूर करके तीनों लोकों का ज्ञान प्राप्त कर लेता है। वह अपरंपार प्रभु में लीन हुआ विरक्त बना रहता है और मन में सत्य का ही गुणगान करता रहता है। हे नानक ! उसने उस परमात्मा को अपने हृदय में बसा लिया है, जो हर जगह पर बसा हुआ है। ३॥

हे जीव-स्त्री ! जिस परमात्मा ने तुझे अपने महल में बुला लिया है, वह भक्ति से प्रेम करने वाला है। गुरु के उपदेश द्वारा भक्ति करने से मन में आनंद बना रहता है और शरीर अपने मनोरथ में सफल हो जाता है। जो जीव-स्त्री मन को मारकर प्रसन्न होती है, वह शब्द द्वारा अपने मनोरथ में सफल हो जाती है। इस प्रकार वह त्रिलोकी नाथ को पहचान लेती है। जो अपने प्रियतम-प्रभु को जान लेती है, उसका मन कभी भी डगमगाता नहीं और न ही कहीं ओर जाती है। हे परमात्मा ! तू मेरा मालिक है, मुझे तेरा ही आसरा है और मुझे तेरा ही आत्मबल है। हे नानक ! सत्य में लीन रहने वाला सदैव शुद्ध है, गुरु के शब्द ने सारा झगड़ा समाप्त कर दिया है।४॥ २॥
