Why is Janamsakhi Pothi Sachkhand is less popular?
Bhai Meharban Sodhi Ji was the son of Bhai Pirthi Chand - the elder brother of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Pirthi Chand created many big obstacles during the Guruship of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. He is also known as one of the conspirers of the Martyrdom of the Guru. Less is known about the nature of Bhai Meharban, but it is believed that he wrote Janamsakhi of Guru Nanak Dev Ji or Pothi Sachkhand to get Sikhs on his father's side to firm their claim on Gurgaddi. This Pothi was later extended by his sons Harji and Chatubhuj in the form of Pothi Harji and Pothi Chaturbhuj.

The Janamsakhi Guru Nanak by Meharban was acquired from Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo Distt. Bathinda. Ever since its acquisition, it has been an object of attraction for research scholars for various reasons. For the students of modern Indian languages, It is one of the biggest prose manuscripts of the 17th century.
Bhai Manohar Dass 'Meharban' Sodhi (1581-1640 AD) wrote this Janamsakhi of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He was the grandson of Guru Ram Dass Ji and the nephew of Guru Arjan and therefore, a direct descendent of the Gurus. It is the most comprehensive Janamsakhi so far written.
