Satgur Miliai Bhukh Gayi, Bhekhi Bhukh Na Jaye... is Hukamnama from Darbar Sahib, Amritsar on Dated [pods field="date_ce"]. Pious Hukam has been said at Ang 586 - 587 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, written by Guru Amar Das Ji in Raag Vadhans.

English Translation

Slok Mahalla - 3rd ( Satgur Miliai Bhukh Gayi ) Whosoever perceives a glimpse of the True Guru gets away from the hunger of more worldly possessions (worldly desires are satiated) and one's hunger for worldly desires is not satiated by formal practices or rituals (for showing off) like wearing the robes of mendicants. Then such a Sadhu (mendicant) goes around begging for food (alms) undergoes a lot of suffering, and gets punished even in the Lord's court.

He does not experience the knowledge (about the Lord) or contentment within his heart, and cannot enjoy the peace of mind gained, in the state of equipoise as it is not predestined for him as per the Lord's Will (riot in his fortune).

Whatever he solicits and seeks from the Lord due to his obstinate nature with an afflicted mind and on receiving His favors also he feels afflicted or disturbed.

So it is much better to lead a householder's life in preference to this mendicant's formal life, as the Guru might bless him with His Grace and benevolence. Such persons get imbued with the love of the Lord through the Guru's guidance, which reveals the Lord's secrets to them, whereas all others are wandering in disgust and fruitless efforts, being engrossed in whims and dual-mindedness.

Human beings function according to the dictates of the Lord, as pre-destined for them vide the Lord's Will, and nothing more could be said about it. O Nanak! The persons, who are loved and liked by the Lord, are accepted by the Lord in His presence thus rewarding their efforts at the Lord's worship. (1)

Mahalla 3rd: By serving the True Guru, we could enjoy the bliss of life, casting away the sufferings of the cycle of births and deaths. Once the Lord is inculcated (abides) within one's heart (inner self), all the worries and afflictions take to their heels.

The Guru has made us realize clearly that the tank of knowledge exists within our inner self, which helps us to purify -8- our filth (of vices) thus making the mind pure and enriched with the light of knowledge.

Thus the Sikh (devotee) meets the Guru, immersed in the love of the Guru's Word just as friends meet each other. The individual thus attains self-realization (by imbibing the Lord's love and knowledge within one's heart) and gains the love and affection of the Lord by merging his soul with the Prime-soul.

However, the faithless person is not spared by the Yama and will be taken to (thrown into) hell, being dishonored.

O, Nanak! The Guru-minded persons, imbued with the love of True Name, will attain salvation as they are immersed in the love of The Lord. (2)

Pouri: Let us join the company of holy saints, where only True Name is being recited. Let us recite Tnie Name in a state of equipoise so that the real ideal of The Name is not lost like the butter being lost while churning the milk (curd).

We could find an honorable place in the Lord's Presence by reciting True Name with honor and acclaim. But. only the fortunate person, pre-destined by the Lord's Will, gets united with the True Guru.

O, Brother! Let us salute such Guru-minded persons, who relate the (secrets) stories (give discourses) of the True Lord and merge us with the Lord. (4)

श्लोक महला ३॥ सतिगुरु से भेंट हो जाने पर भूख दूर हो जाती है लेकिन पाखण्ड धारण करने से भूख दूर नहीं होती। पाखण्डी व्यक्ति को बहुत दु:ख होता है, वह घर-घर भटकता रहता है और परलोक में भी उसे दुगुना दण्ड मिलता है।

उसके मन में संतोष नहीं होता तांकि जो कुछ भी उसे मिलता है, उसे संतोषपूर्वक खाए। जिस किसी से भी वह माँगता है, वह अपने मन के हठ से माँगता है और लेकर वे अपने देने वाले को दु:ख ही पहुँचाता है।

इस आडम्बर का वेष करने से तो गृहस्थी होना बेहतर है, जो किसी न किसी को तो कुछ देता ही है। जो व्यक्ति शब्द में मग्न हैं, उन्हें सूझ आ जाती है और कुछ लोग तो दुविधा में ही भूले हुए हैं।

वे अपनी तकदीर के अनुसार कर्म करते हैं और इस बारे में कुछ नहीं कहा जा सकता। हे नानक ! जो भगवान को अच्छे लगते हैं, वे भले हैं और जिनकी प्रतिष्ठा वह बरकरार रखता है॥ १॥

महला ३॥ सतिगुरु की सेवा करने से मनुष्य हमेशा सुखी रहता है और उसकी जन्म-मरण की पीड़ा दूर हो जाती है। उसे बिल्कुल ही चिन्ता नहीं होती और अचिंत प्रभु उसके मन में आकर निवास कर लेता है।

सतगुरु ने यह ज्ञान प्रदान किया है कि मनुष्य के हृदय में ही ज्ञान रूपी तीर्थ-स्थान है। इस ज्ञान रूपी तीर्थ-स्थान के अमृत-सरोवर में स्नान करने से सर्व प्रकार की मैल उतर जाती है और मन निर्मल हो जाता है ।

सच्चे शब्द के प्रेम द्वारा सज्जनों को अपना सज्जन (प्रभु) मिल जाता है। अपने घर में ही वे दिव्य ज्ञान को पा लेते हैं और उनकी ज्योति परम-ज्योति में विलीन हो जाती है। ढोंगी पुरुष को यमदूत नहीं छोड़ता और उसे तिरस्कृत करके परलोक में ले जाता है।

हे नानक ! जो सत्य-नाम में मग्न रहते हैं, उनका उद्धार हो जाता है और सच्चे प्रभु के साथ ही उनकी वृति लगी रहती है।॥ २॥

पउड़ी। उस सत्संगति में जाकर बैठो, जहाँ हरि-नाम का मंथन अर्थात् सिमरन किया जाता है। वहाँ सहज अवस्था में हरि के नाम का भजन करो चूंकि तुम हरि के नाम-तत्त्व को न गंवा बैठना।

नित्य ही हरि-परमेश्वर का भजन करते रहो, हरि के दरबार में आश्रय प्राप्त हो जाएगा। जिस व्यक्ति के माथे पर शुभ-कर्मों के फलस्वरूप विधाता द्वारा तकदीर लिखी होती है, उसे पूर्ण सतिगुरु मिल जाता है।

सभी लोग उस गुरु को नमस्कार करो, जिसने हरि की कथा कथन की है॥ ४ ॥

ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆਂ ਹੀ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ) ਭੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਭੇਖਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ; (ਭੇਖੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਦੇ) ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਕਲਪਦਾ ਹੈ, ਘਰ ਘਰ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਭੀ ਵਧੀਕ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਭੁਗਤਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਭੇਖੀ ਸਾਧੂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ, ਜਿਸ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਿਲੇ, ਲੈ ਕੇ ਖਾ ਲਏ (ਭਾਵ, ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਏ) ; ਪਰ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਹਠ ਦੇ ਆਸਰੇ (ਭਿੱਖਿਆ) ਮੰਗਿਆਂ (ਦੋਹੀਂ ਧਿਰੀਂ) ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਭਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਭੇਖ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਸਥ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਥੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਵਿਚ ਰੱਤੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚੀ ਸੂਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ; ਪਰ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਭਟਕਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਚੰਗੇ ਰਾਹ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਮੰਦੇ ਪਾਸੇ) ਕੁਝ ਆਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ, (ਪਿਛਲੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਹੀ) ਕਾਰ ਕਮਾਉਣੀ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਜੀਵ ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੱਗਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹੀ ਚੰਗੇ ਹਨ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਥਾਂਇ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਲਾਜ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ) ।੧।

ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰਿਆਂ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਾਰੀ ਉਮਰ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ; ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਚਿੰਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੀ ਗਿਆਨ (-ਰੂਪ) ਤੀਰਥ ਹੈ, (ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਇਸ ਤੀਰਥ ਦੀ) ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ-ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ, ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੇ ਤੀਰਥ ਤੇ ਨ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਤੇ ਹੀ ਸਤਸੰਗੀ ਸਤਸੰਗੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਸਤਸੰਗ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਰਤੀ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ, ਹਿਰਦੇ-ਰੂਪ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਸਿਮਰਨ ਰੂਪ) ਆਹਰ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਰ, ਪਖੰਡ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ ਮੌਤ ਦਾ ਸਹਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਦਾ, (ਪਖੰਡ ਦੀ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਮੌਤ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਤੁਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ) ਵਿਚ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ (ਇਸ ਸਹਮ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਉਸ ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਬੈਠੋ, ਜਿਥੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, (ਉਥੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ) ਮਨ ਟਿਕਾ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ-ਤੱਤ ਖੁੱਸ ਨਾਹ ਜਾਏ। (ਸਤ ਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ) ਸਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪੋ, ਇਹ ਨਾਮ-ਰੂਪ ਢੋਆ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਪੜੀਦਾ ਹੈ।

(ਪਰ, ਸਤਸੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ) ਉਸੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਲੱਭਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉਤੇ ਧੁਰੋਂ (ਭਲੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਸਾਰੇ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰ ਨਿਵਾਓ ਜੋ ਸਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।
