Guru Nanak Dev Ji Joti Jot Diwas 2024
Guru Nanak Dev Ji Ascension Day or Jyoti Jot Diwas in 2024, comes on September 27th. Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji ascended the Sachkhand after living the worldly life, dated 1596 Bikrami Era Assu Vadi Dashmi. He lived the last days of his life in Kartarpur Sahib.

Guru Nanak Departed
On September 7, 1539, Sri Guru Nanak passed away, leaving behind a dedicated community of followers, a message accessible to people of all backgrounds, and a successor Guru to guide the future. The monuments built by his devotees were later washed away by the Ravi River, which some believe was in line with Guru Nanak's wishes. Following this, his descendants and followers established a new town across the river called Dera Baba Nanak, where many of the present-day residents are the descendants of those early settlers.
Gurbani Quotes
Gurbani considers Saint and Lord equally. There is nothing to mourn about when a Saint Departs from the world. Bhagat Kabir Ji has said in Guru Granth Sahib:
ਕਬੀਰ ਸੰਤ ਮੂਏ ਕਿਆ ਰੋਈਐ ਜੋ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
Kabeer, why cry at the death of a Saint? He is just going back to his home.
ਰੋਵਹੁ ਸਾਕਤ ਬਾਪੁਰੇ ਜੁ ਹਾਟੈ ਹਾਟ ਬਿਕਾਇ ॥੧੬॥
Cry for the wretched, faithless cynic, who is sold from store to store.
So the Ascension Days of Gurus are not to mourn, these are to celebrate for Gursikhs.
