ਬਿਲਾਵਲ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ ॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਲਈ ਤਰੇਹ ਉਤਪੰਨ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਬਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਵਿੰਨ੍ਹੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ ॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਕੇਵਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਹੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਹੋਰ ਕੌਣ ਪਰਾਏ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣ ਕਸਦਾ ਹੈ? ॥੧॥

ਫਰੇਫਤਾ ਕਰ ਲੈਣਹਾਰ, ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ॥ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮ ਚਕਰਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਦੇ ਮਡਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ॥ ਠਹਿਰਾਉ ॥

ਮੈਂ ਸਮੂਹ ਮੁਲਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੇਖਦੀ ਫਿਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੀ ਘਣੇਰੀ ਸੱਧਰ ਹੈ ॥ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਤਮਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਹ ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਉਤੋਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਰਸਤਾ ਵਿਖਾਲ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ॥ ॥੨॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਆ ਕੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਦਾ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਦੇਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ, ਦਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠੜਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਵੱਢ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਰੱਖ ਦੇਵਾਂਗਾ ॥ ਜੈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾ ਦੇਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਵੇ ॥ ॥੩॥

ਆਓ ਮੇਰੀਓ ਸਹੇਲੀਓ! ਆਪਾਂ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝੀਏ ਅਤੇ ਨੇਕੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜਾਦੂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈਏ ॥ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਉਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਆਓ! ਆਪਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਟੁਰੀਏ ॥ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥ ॥੪॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਪਤਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਦਇਆ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਸ਼ੋਭਤ ਕਰ ਲਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਸ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਨਾਈ ਦਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਪਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਉਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਦੇਹ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਬੋਟੀ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ॥ ॥੫॥

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਗਲ-ਮਾਲਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਪੂਰਤ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੀਸ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ਲਈ ਪਰਮ ਗਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ॥ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮਾਲਕ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਭਰੋਸੇ ਦਾ ਬਿਸਤਰਾ ਵਿਛਾਇਆ ਹੈ ॥ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੀ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਅਨੰਦ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੈ ॥ ॥੬॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੋਈ ਗੱਲ ਆਖੇ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਆਣੀ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਕੁਛ ਹੋਰ ਹੀ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਬਿਰਬੇ ਅਤੇ ਫੱਕ ਨਿਆਈ ਹਨ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਾਰ-ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰ ॥ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਪਤਨੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਪਾਕ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਪਤਨੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਪਾ ਲੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਿਹਰੇ ਤੇ ਥੁੱਕਾਂ ਪੈਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ॥ ॥੭॥

ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਗੋਲੀ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਤੂੰ ਆਲਮ ਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹੈ ॥ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਇਖਤਿਆਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਂ ॥ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਮੈਂ ਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੀ ਹਾਂ? ਹੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ! ਤੂੰ ਮਸਕੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਧਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰ ॥ ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ਰ! ਨਾਨਕ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੈ ॥॥੮॥੫॥

English Translation

Bilawal Mahala - 4 ( Antar Pyas Uthi Prabh Keri ....)
O Brother! By listening to the Guru's Word, the mind was pierced by an arrow (of love) bringing an urge in the mind which (awakened) enlivened the thirst to glimpse the True Master just as an arrow of love has pierced us. No one could appreciate our pining and anguish of mind except the mind (which has experienced similar pain) having a similar experience. (1)

O Brother! The Guru's charming personality has enamoured me to the Lord so much that with the glimpse of the Guru, I lost all my senses, and my intelligence no longer functions so that I am completely unaware of worldly considerations due to my love for the Lord. (Pause-1)
Now I have developed such an urge for a glimpse of the Lord in my heart that I am roaming around in all the countries (of the world for His glimpse). Now I have offered my body and mind cut into pieces to the Guru who has shown me the road to the True Master in my path of life. (2)

O Brother! If any person were to give me a message of the Lord, then this news would appear very sweet to my body and mind. I would offer my head even (cut away from the body) to the lotus-feet of the Guru, who has united me with the Lord through the company of the holy saints, and giving up my egoism I would seek the support of such a Guru. (3)

O, friend! Then by following the path of the Guru, we could realize the true form of the Lord and take a firm grip on the Lord (control the Lord) by doing the magic of virtuous deeds. The saints are pleased with the Lord's True Name only. So I would fall at the lotus feet of those friendly holy saints (as friends), who have sought the support of the Lord. (4)

When some friendly Sikh embellishes himself with the ornament of 'Pardon', the Lord gets pleased with him, and the lamp of knowledge is lit in his mind through the Guru's Grace, thus enlightening his inner self (heart). We would offer our head even (surrender ourselves) to such a Guru-minded person so that he would give us the joy of His unison being pleased with us. (5)

Such a Guru-minded person is enamoured by the True Name of the Lord, who appears beautiful and charming (wears a necklace of the love of the Lord's True Name around his neck) and has purified his heart like gold (jewels) by ridding him of his vicious thoughts and sinful nature. Such a purified mind is our greatest (ornament) wealth. Now we have developed such a hope in the heart of uniting with the Lord, having developed a desire in the mind that the Lord never forsakes me and goes away (to some other beloved) leaving me in separation. (The Lord loves me so much now that He never forsakes me for the love of others). (6)

But if we were not to follow the dictates of the Lord, as per His Will, and never function according to His Will, then all our embellishment of other virtues is useless and of no avail. The Guru-minded persons have been united with the Lord by embellishing themselves with the ornaments of virtues to unite with the Lord. In contrast, some faithless persons, who do not carry out the dictates of the Lord as per His Will, are discarded by the Lord and their lives become fruitless. (7)

O True Master! Our only prayer to You is that You are limitless whereas we are Your slaves (devotees) and are under Your control. In fact without the support of the Lord, our True Master, what else could we do? O Nanak! We only have the (refuge) approach to the lotus feet of the Lord now. O True Master! May You bless this poor and helpless person (like me) with Your Grace and protect me from the world's sufferings! (8-5-8)

बिलावल महला ४ ॥ गुरु के वचन को सुनकर मन में ऐसा तीर लगा कि अन्तर्मन में प्रभु-मिलन की तीव्र लालसा पैदा हो गई। मन की व्यथा मन ही जानता है, अन्य कोई पराई पीड़ा को क्या जान सकता है॥ १॥ प्यारे गुरु ने मेरा मन मोह लिया है। मैं बहुत व्याकुल थी, पर गुरु को देखकर प्रसन्न हो गई हूँ॥ १॥ रहाउ॥ में देश-विदेश सब जगह देखती रहती हूँ और मेरे मन में प्रभु-दर्शन का बड़ा चाव है। मैं अपना तन-मन काट कर गुरु के समक्ष भेंट कर दूँगी, जिसने मुझे प्रभु का मार्ग दिखाया है॥ २ ॥

जो कोई प्रभु का संदेश आकर मुझे देता है, वह मेरे हृदय, अन्तर, मन-तन को बड़ा मीठा लगता है। मैं अपना सिर काटकर उसके चरणों में रख दूँगी, जो मुझे हरि-प्रभु से मिला दे॥ ३॥ हे सखी ! चलो, हम प्रभु को समझ लें और अपने शुभ-गुणों के टोने करके प्रभु को पा लें। उसका नाम भक्तवत्सल कहा जाता है, इसलिए प्रभु की शरण में बने रहें ॥ ४॥ जो जीव-स्त्री क्षमा का श्रृंगार करती है तथा मन रूपी दीपक में गुरु का ज्ञान प्रज्वलित करती है, प्रभु उस पर बड़ा खुश होता है। मेरा प्रभु बड़े आनंद से उस जीव-स्त्री से भोग करता है, हम उसके आगे अपना जीवन काट-काट कर रख देंगे।॥ ५॥

हरि नाम मेरे गले का हार बन गया है और मेरा मन सिर का बड़ा आभूषण मोतीचूर बन चुका है। मैंने हरि के लिए अपने ह्रदय में श्रद्धा की सेज बिछा दी है और मन में प्रभु बड़ा प्यारा लगता है, जो मुझे छोड़ नहीं सकेगा ॥ ६॥ यदि प्रभु कुछ अन्य कहता रहे और जीव-स्त्री कुछ अन्य ही करती रहे तो उसका किया सारा श्रृंगार व्यर्थ हो जाता है। जिसने प्रभु-मिलन के लिए शुभ-गुणों का श्रृंगार किया है, उसने उसे सुहागिन बना लिया है। लेकिन जिस जीव-स्त्री ने परमात्मा का हुक्म नहीं माना, उसका तिरस्कार ही हुआ है॥ ७॥ हे ईश्वर ! तू अगम्य स्वामी है, में तेरी सेविका हूँ, मैं क्या कर सकती हूँ? मैं तो तेरे ही वश में पड़ी हूँ। नानक प्रार्थना करता है कि हे हरि ! मुझ दीन पर दया करो, मेरी लाज रख लो, क्योंकि मै तेरी ही शरण में हूँ॥ ८॥ ५ ॥ ८॥
