Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Divas commemorates the Day when the 9th Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji accepted death instead of converting to Islam or showing any miracle. In 2024, Joti Jot Gurpurab, or Martyrdom Day of Gurudev comes on 6th December 2024.
He was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind Sahib. He was contemplative practicing seclusion and meditation until called upon to assume the leadership of the Sikhs. Guru Tegh Bahadur was publicly beheaded in Chandani Chowk, Delhi in November 1675 for challenging the oppression of Aurangzeb against Hinduism.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji gave an example of this by making sacrifices. Due to this, he is also called the Chadar of Hind or the shield of India. He sacrificed his life to save others.
