Sajan Tere Charan Ki Hoye Raha Sad Dhur

1. English Translation

Salok Mahalla 5
Saajan tere charan kee hoe rahaa sad dhoor.
Nanak saran tuhaariya pekhau sadaa hajoor. ||1||

O Nanak! I have sought refuge at the lotus-feet of the Lord and perceive Him always beside me. O Lord, my True Friend! I would always pray to be the dust of Your lotus-feet, so as to be close to You. (1)

Patit puneet asankh hohi har charni man laag.
Athsath teerath naam prabh jis Nanak mastak bhaag. ||2||

Mahalla 5th: Countless sinners have purified themselves by inculcating the Lord's love in their hearts and seeking refuge at the lotus-feet of the Lord. O Nanak! The Guru-minded persons, who are fortunate enough and are pre-destined by Lord's Will, have attained the fruits of their meditation of True Name, which is equivalent to the visit to all holy places of pilgrimage. (68 in number as per Hindu religion) (2)

Nit japeeai saas giraas naau Parvardigaar da.
Jis no kare raham tis nu visaarda.
Aap upaavanhhaar aape hi maarda.
Sabh kich jaanai jaan bujh veechaarda.
Anik roop khin maahi kudrat dhaarda.
Jis no laae sach tisahi udhaarda.
Jis dai hovai val su kade na haarda.
Sadaa abhag deebaan hai hau tis namaskaarda. ||4||

Pouri: O Brother! Let us recite the True Name of our Lord benefactor with every breath and morsel of food. (every moment of life) In fact, the Lord never forgets such persons, who are bestowed with His Grace and favored with His (blessings) benevolence, as a result, they are always immersed in the True Name. The Lord is the Creator and Destroyer, all combined in one; and knows everything being omniscient and functions as it pleases Him.

The Lord, through His Nature, adopts many postures in no time, but whosoever is attached to True Name through His Grace, attains salvation. The person, who is granted Lord's support, never gets vanquished in any field. O Nanak! I always salute my True Lord, whose support is ever-lasting, being imperishable. (The Lord's Court is ever-existent being permanent) (4)

2. Punjabi Translation

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ( Sajan Tere Charan Ki Hoye Raha Sad Dhoor ) (ਇਉਂ ਆਖ, ਕਿ) ਹੇ ਸੱਜਣ! ਮੈਂ ਸਦਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੇਖਾਂ।੧।

(ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਭੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਜੀਵ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਏ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਅਠਾਹਠ ਤੀਰਥ ਹੈ, ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਇਹ ਨਾਮ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ) ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਤੇ ਭਾਗ (ਲਿਖੇ) ਹਨ।੨।

(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਪਾਲਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਹ ਲੈਂਦਿਆਂ ਖਾਂਦਿਆਂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਜਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਬੰਦੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨੋਂ) ਭੁਲਾਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਆਪ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਮਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ (ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ) ਹਰੇਕ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝ ਕੇ (ਉਸ ਤੇ) ਵਿਚਾਰ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇਕ ਪਲਕ ਵਿਚ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪ ਬਣਾ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਸੱਚ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਜਿਸ ਜੀਵ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਜੀਵ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ) ਕਦੇ ਹਾਰਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ।੪।

3. Hindi Translation

सलोक महला ५
साजन तेरे चरण की होइ रहा सद धूर।
नानक शरणि तुम्हारिया पेखउ सदा हजूर॥ १॥

महला ५
पतित पुनीत असंख होहि हरि चरनी मनु लाग।
अठसठ तीर्थ नामु प्रभु जसु नानक मस्तक भाग॥ २॥

पउड़ी
नित जपीऐ सास गिरास नाउ परवरदिगार दा।
जिस नो करे रहम तिसु न विसारदा।
आप उपावणहार आपे ही मारदा।
सभु किछु जाणै जाण बुझि वीचारदा।
अनिक रूप खिन माहि कुदरत धारदा।
जिस नो लाइ सच तिसहि उधारदा।
जिस दै होवै वलि सु कदे न हारदा।
सदा अभगु दीबाणु है हउ तिसु नमसकारदा॥ ४॥

श्लोक महला ५॥ हे मेरे साजन ! मैं सदा ही तेरे चरणों की धूलि बना रहूँ। नानक की प्रार्थना है कि हे प्रभु जी ! मैंने तेरी ही शरण ली है और मैं हमेशा ही तुझे अपने पास देखता रहूँ॥ १॥

महला ५॥ हरि के चरणों में अपने मन को लगाकर असंख्य पतित जीव पवित्र-पावन हो गए हैं। हे नानक ! प्रभु का नाम ही अड़सठ तीर्थ (के समान) है लेकिन यह उसे ही प्राप्त होता है जिसके मस्तक पर भाग्य लिखा होता है॥ २ ॥

पउड़ी। अपनी प्रत्येक सांस एवं ग्रास से परवरदिगार का नाम जपना चाहिए। जिस पर वह रहम करता है, वह उसे नहीं भुलाता। वह स्वयं ही दुनिया की रचना करने वाला है और स्वयं ही बिनाशक है। जाननहार प्रभु सब कुछ जानता है एवं समझ कर अपनी रचना की तरफ ध्यान देता है।

वह अपनी कुदरत द्वारा एक क्षण में ही अनेक रूप धारण कर लेता है और जिसे सत्य के साथ लगाता है, उसका उद्धार कर देता है। जिसके पक्ष में वह परमात्मा है, वह कदाचित नहीं हारता। उसका दरबार सदा अटल है, मैं उसे कोटि-कोटि नमन करता हूँ॥ ४ ॥
