ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੂੰ ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਗਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੇ ॥
They, who have heard, and seen Guru Nanak, fall not, again, into the womb (gets Moksha from the Cycle of Birth-Death).

Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, was born on the day of Kartik Purnima. The day of Kartik Purnima, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country. Kartik Purnima is celebrated as the festival of lights. This year, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is on Tuesday, 12 November. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on April 15, 1469, in a place called Talwandi. Later, Talwandi was renamed Nankana Sahib, which is in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
A True Guru
A Guru is a person who takes care of and grooms a person in every situation. When the Guru lifts a falling child, he also wakes up the sleeping child by shaking it. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was a great Guru who had these qualities of the Guru in himself. While people remember Guru Nanak Dev Ji as the first Guru of the Sikhs, he has also been recognized as a revolutionary saint who asked people to come forward to protect the country.
