English Translation

Suhi Mahala – 4 Ghar – 7 lk onkar satgur prasad
( Tere Kavan Kavan Gun Keh Keh Gaavan )

“By the· Grace of the Lord-Sublime, Truth personified & attainable through the Guru’s guidance.”

O, True Master! What virtues of Yours should I consider and sing Your praises, as You are the fountainhead of all virtues? I cannot even describe a few of your integrity and sing Your praises as You are the most incredible power on Earth, the Lord-Creator, and the purest and highest Master. (1)

O, Lord! I have only one support of Your True Name as my mainstay. O, True Master! There is no other protector for me except You, and! do not recognize anyone else except You. (Pause- 1)

O, my True Master!

My (body) strength and power depend on Your support only, as I have no other support. I always pray to You for all my requirements and needs, seeking Your help. O, Lord! I have no other support, my joy and sorrow are all linked up with You alone, being the cause and effect of everything, and my only support. (2)

O, Lord! This is Your greatest miracle that water and (Earth) and are existing together and it is only on land that water is to be seen (present), just as (fire) heat is present within the wood in a hidden form, and the goat and lion live together (in the jungle) though they are enemies of each other like the fire and wood. By watching this wonderful worldly drama, we try to deliberate in our minds and think of Your Greatness. O, my mind! By remembering the Lord, let us get rid of all our doubts and misgivings. (by reciting Lord’s True Name). (3)

O, saintly friends! Let us realize the greatness and benevolence of the Lord, by perceiving the praise and acclaim bestowed by the Lord on his saints and slaves (worshippers)! O, Nanak! The Lord has made the whole world bow at the lotus feet of the holy saints, who are full of humility just as the Earth which lies below (at) our feet always, finally mingles the beings with itself (in dust) after their death. The whole world then pays obeisance to the holy saints, who are an embodiment of humility like the Earth (dust). (4- 1 – 12)

सूही महला ४ घर ७ ੴ सतगुर प्रसाद ॥ तेरे कवन कवन गुण कहि कहि गावा तू साहिब गुणी निधाना ॥ तुमरी महिमा बरन न साकउ तूं ठाकुर ऊच भगवाना ॥१॥ मै हर हर नाम धर सोई ॥ जिउ भावै तिउ राख मेरे साहिब मै तुझ बिन अवर न कोई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ मै ताण दीबाण तूहै मेरे सुआमी मै तुध आगै अरदास ॥ मै होर थाउ नाही जिस पहि करउ बेनंती मेरा दुख सुख तुझ ही पास ॥२॥ विचे धरती विचे पाणी विच कासट अगन धरीजै ॥ बकरी सिंघ इकतै थाइ राखे मन हर जप भ्रम भउ दूर कीजै ॥३॥ हरि की वडिआई देखहु संतहु हर निमाणिआ माण देवाए ॥ जिउ धरती चरण तले ते ऊपर आवै तिउ नानक साध जना जगत आण सभ पैरी पाए ॥४॥१॥१२॥

राग सूही, घर ७ में गुरु रामदास जी की बाणी। अकाल पुरख एक है और सतगुरु की कृपा से मिलता है। मैं तेरे कौन कौन से गुण बता कर तेरी महिमा मँडन कर सकता हूँ ? तूँ सारे गुणों का खजाना है, तूँ सुब का मालिक है। हे सबसे ऊंचे भगवान! तूँ सुब का पालन करने वाला है । मैं तेरी बड़ाई बयान नहीं कर सकता ॥੧॥

हे हरी प्रभु! मेरे लिए तेरा नाम ही सहारा है। हे मेरे मालिक! जैसे तुझे अच्छा लगे उसी प्रकार मेरी रक्षा कर। तेरे बिना मेरा और कोई सहारा नहीं है॥१॥रहाउ॥ हे मेरे मालिक! तूँ ही मेरे लिए बल है, तूँ ही मेरे लिए सहारा है। मैं तेरे आगे ही विनती कर सकता हूँ। मेरे लिए अन्यत्र कोई ऐसी जगह नहीं, जहां विनती कर सकूँ। मैं अपना हर एक सुख हर दुःख तेरे पास ही पेश कर सकता हूँ॥२॥

हे मेरे मन! देख, (पानी के) बीच ही धरती है, (धरती के) बीच ही पानी है, लकड़ी में आग रखी हुई है, (मालिक प्रभु ने, मानो) शेर और बकरी एक जगह रखे हुए हैं। हे मन! (तूँ क्यों डरता है? ऐसी शक्ति वाले) परमात्मा का नाम जप कर तू अपने हरेक डर भ्रम दूर कर लिया कर॥३॥

हे संत जनों! देखो परमात्मा की बड़ी ताकत! परमात्मा उनको आदर दिलाता है, जिनकी कोई इज्ज़त नहीं करता था। हे नानक! जैसे धरती (मनुष्य के) पैरों के नीचे से (मौत आने पर) उस के ऊपर आ जाती है, उसी प्रकार परमात्मा सारे जगत को ला कर साधजनों के चरणों में डाल देता है॥४॥१॥१२॥
