Translation in English

Asa ( Kaha Suaan Kau Simrit Sunaye )

It is no use reciting and singing the praises of the Lord before an infidel or faithless person as it will not have any effect on him; just as it is futile reading out smritis to a dog or a person of the same caliber and intelligence. (1)

We should meditate on the True Name in the company of holy saints, with body and mind so as to immerse completely in the Lord’s love but at no stage even unknowingly, we should talk about it to the faithless person, as his mind is tuned to some other things of interest to him. (Pause-1)

The faithless person behaves in the same manner as a crow who is always interested in filth and it is no use offering him the fragrance of camphor; or even offering milk to a snake, who is bound to spit venom, and would bite you any moment (is as bad as the faithless person). (2)

We could enlighten our minds and conscience in the company of Holy Saints with knowledge and piety just as the touch of mythological (gold stone) Paras could convert iron into gold. (3)

But the fact remains that everyone behaves as per his past actions and may become faithless or behave like a dog.
In fact the faithless person performs such actions as are willed by the Lord as per an individual’s fortune as carved out from the beginning by the Lord; moreover, everything is being controlled by the Lord’s Will. (4)

O, Kabir! Even if we were to guide any self-willed and faithless person with the nectar of True Name, it will have no effect on him; just as the neem tree remains bitter even though watered by the sweetness of nectar. Similarly, the faithless person is incorrigible, but even he could be molded and put on the right path with the company of holy congregations though normally he would not change his attitude of an infidel. ( Kaha Suaan Kau Simrit Sunaye ) आसा ॥ कुते (अर्थात् लालची आदमी) को स्मृतियाँ पढ़कर सुनाने का क्या अभिप्राय है ? वैसे ही शाक्त के पास हरि का गुणगान करने का क्या लाभ है ?॥ १॥ हे भाई ! राम नाम में पूर्णतया लीन रहना चाहिए तथा भूलकर भी शाक्त इन्सान को उपदेश नहीं करना चाहिए॥ १॥ रहाउ॥ कौए को कपूर खिलाने से कोई लाभ नहीं (क्योंकि कोए की विष्ठा-भक्षी चोंच में अन्तर नहीं आएगा) इसी तरह विषधर सॉप को दूध पिलाने का भी कोई लाभ नहीं (क्योंकि डंक मारने से वह हटेगा नहीं) ॥ २॥

सत्संगति में सम्मिलित होने से विवेक-बुद्धि की प्राप्ति होती है, जैसे पारस के स्पर्श से लोहा स्वर्ण बन जाता है॥ ३॥ शाक्त एवं कुत्ता सब कुछ वही करते हैं, जो प्रभु उनसे करवाता है। जो शुरु से किस्मत में लिखा हुआ है, वह वही कर्म करते हैं।॥ ४॥ कबीर जी कहते हैं कि यदि कोई मनुष्य अमृत लेकर भी नीम की सिंचाई करे तो भी उसका कड़वा स्वभाव दूर नहीं होता।॥ ५॥ ७॥ २०॥

ਆਸਾ । ( Kaha Suaan Kau Simrit Sunaye )  ਕੁੱਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੀਆਂ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਸੁਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਹੈ? ਮਾਦਾ-ਪ੍ਰਸਤ ਕੋਲ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਇਨ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੀ ਲਾਭ? ਤੂੰ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੀਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹੁ । ਭੁਲ ਕੇ ਭੀ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਸਤਕ ਕੋਲ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਨਾਂ ਕਰ । ਠਹਿਰਾਉ । ਆਦਮੀ ਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਮੁਸ਼ਕ-ਕਾਫੂਰ ਭੇਟਾ ਕਰੇ? ਤੂੰ ਨਾਗ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਧ ਕਿਉਂ ਪਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ? ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਲੋਹਾ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਰਸਾਇਣ ਨਾਲ ਛੁਹ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋਨਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਕੁੱਤੜ ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਉਪਾਸ਼ਕ ਸਾਰਾ ਕੁਛ ਓਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਓਹੀ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਉਸ ਲਈ ਐਨ ਮੁੱਢ ਤੋਂ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ । ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਬਿ-ਹਿਯਾਤ (ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ) ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਨਿੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਿੰਜੇ, ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਖਸਲਤ ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ।
