Jou Hum Bandhe Moh Faas

Jou Hum Bandhe Moh Faas, Hum Prem Badhan Tum Baadhe; is Hukamnama from Darbar Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar today on Dated April 30, 2023. The Gurbani of Hukam came from the creation of Bhagat Ravidas Ji, documented in Raag Sorath Ang 658 of SGGS Ji.

English Translation

( Jou Hum Bandhe Moh Phas Hum Prem Bandhan … )

O, Lord! We have arranged to hold You in the bondage of our love just as You have got us engrossed in the love of worldly bondage. We have got relieved of our bondage with great efforts, but how could You get out of the bondage of our love? (1)

O, True Master! You will not be able to get out of our bondage of love, as we have inculcated such a strong love for You in our hearts. (so what will You do to protect Yourself from our bondage of love? (Pause – 1)

Just as the fish is cut into small pieces and then these pieces are cooked and roasted and then this food is eaten in small morsels but the fish never forgets or forsakes the love of water and we feel more thirsty after eating this fish. (2)

O, Brother! The Lord has covered the whole world with the curtain of worldly attachments but the saints of the Lord (are not made to) do not undergo the suffering of His separation. The Lord does not belong to any one person like the father of one person only as the Lord Gobind is only fond of our love and devotion and the Lord, king emperor, belongs to all His beloved devotees only. (3)

O, Ravidas! Whom should we explain that the worship of the Lord (Lord’s True Name) is our only support (in life)?

O, Lord! The purpose of our recitation of Your True Name and Your worship is to cast away all our afflictions of our separation from You. (4-2)

जउ हम बांधे मोह फास हम प्रेम बधन तुम बाधे ॥
अपने छूटन को जतन करहु हम छूटे तुम आराधे ॥१॥
माधवे जानत हहु जैसी तैसी ॥ अब कहा करहुगे ऐसी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
मीन पकर फांकिओ अर काटिओ रांध कीओ बहु बानी ॥
खंड खंड कर भोजन कीनो तऊ न बिसरिओ पानी ॥२॥
आपन बापै नाही किसी को भावन को हर राजा ॥
मोह पटल सभ जगत बिआपिओ भगत नही संतापा ॥३॥
कहि रविदास भगत इक बाढी अब इह का सिउ कहीऐ ॥
जा कारन हम तुम आराधे सो दुख अजहू सहीऐ ॥४॥२॥

हे प्रभु जी ! यद्यपि हम सांसारिक मोह की फाँसी में बँधे हुए थे तो हमने तुझे भी अपने प्रेम-बन्धन में बाँध लिया है। अब तुम इस प्रेम-बन्धन से मुक्त होने का यत्न करो, चूंकि हम तो तुम्हारी आराधना करके मुक्त हो गए हैं।१।

हे माधव ! जैसी तेरे साथ हमारी प्रीति है, वह तुम जानते ही हो। तेरे साथ हमारी ऐसी प्रीति होने से अब तुम हमारे साथ क्या करोगे ? ।॥

१ ॥ रहाउ ॥ मनुष्य मछली को पकड़ता है, मछली को चीरता और काटता है तथा विभिन्न प्रकार से इसे भलीभांति पकाता है। मछली के टुकड़े-टुकड़े करके भोजन किया जाता है परन्तु फिर भी मछली जल को नहीं भूलती॥ २ ॥

परमात्मा किसी के बाप की जायदाद नहीं है, अपितु वह समूचे विश्व का मालिक है, जो प्रेम-भावना के ही वशीभूत है। समूचे जगत पर मोह का पद पड़ा हुआ है। परन्तु यह मोह भक्त को संताप नहीं देता।।३।

रविदास जी का कथन है कि एक प्रभु की भक्ति हृदय में बढ़ गई है, यह मैं अब किसे बताऊँ। हे प्रभु! जिस दु:ख के कारण हमने तुम्हारी आराधना की थी, क्या वह दु:ख हमें अब भी सहन करना होगा ? ॥४॥२॥

ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਤੇਰੇ ਭਗਤ ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਲੁਕਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ , ਅਜਿਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਦੇ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਤੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈਂ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।

ਜੇ ਅਸੀ ਮੋਹ ਦੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਸਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਅਸਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਰੱਸੀ ਨਾਲ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸਿਮਰ ਕੇ ਨਿਕਲ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ਤੂੰ ਅਸਾਡੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਜਕੜ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਿਕਲੇਂਗਾ?।

ਮੱਛੀ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਫਾਂਕਾਂ ਕਰ ਦੇਈਏ, ਟੋਟੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਈਏ ਤੇ ਕਈ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਲਈਏ, ਫਿਰ ਰਤਾ ਰਤਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਖਾ ਲਈਏ, ਫਿਰ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਮੱਛੀ ਨੂੰ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲਦਾ।੨।

ਜਗਤ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ ਹਰੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਪਿਉ ਦੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਦਾ ਬੱਝਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਪਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਫਸਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਕਲੇਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ।੩।

ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ- ਮੈਂ ਇਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਇਤਨੀ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਕਿਸੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਗਿਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ ਜੁ ਜਿਸ ਮੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸਾਂ, ਉਸ ਮੋਹ ਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਤਕ ਸਹਾਰਨਾ ਪੈ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।੪।੨।
