English Translation

Slok Mahalla Pehla ( Je Mohaaka Ghar Muhai.. )
In case a thief steals some money from another’s house for the purpose of feeding ancestors (in the other world, by feeding Pandits) with the help of stolen wealth and uses it for giving alms) with the help of stolen wealth and uses it for giving alms so as to benefit his ancestors, Once the stolen goods are recognized by someone in the other world even the ancestors will be labeled as thieves, and the intermediary Brahmin will also get punished by chopping off his hands for conniving and using stolen money for the purpose of almsgiving. Even the god of justice (Dharam Raj) will dispense similar justice. O Nanak! We always get into the next world, whatever we have earned through our good or bad actions. (We get paid for our virtues or sins after death, in the Lord’s Presence)

Mahalla: Just as a woman gets her menstruation period every month and is considered impure (till after 4 days when it stops and they have a bath to purify themselves) Similarly the false and untrue persons always give out the foul smell from the mouth because of the impurities of falsehood practiced by them; and feel ashamed and disgraced every day due to slander. used by them by having a bath for the body alone is not good enough for the purification of an individual. O Nanak! It is only those persons who spend their life remembering the Lord by inculcating his True Name in the heart, that are called pure and perfect.

Pouri: There are some people who have the privilege of riding fast steeds, with beautiful ladies laden with ornaments, serving as their spouses, and occupying palatial and beautiful mansions and enjoying the fun of worldly drama in various forms but unfortunately they are bereft of the knowledge of the Lord; as a result, they lose the battle of life and this human life is lost in the gamble without gaining anything. They have commanded big empires, thus acquiring all material comforts and wealth and forgetting about death while using palatial buildings for their living in comfort. Now old age with all infirmities has arrived and the period of youth had been lost in false worldly achievements, without gaining any real aim in life; thus human life is lost in fruitless efforts. (17)

Hindi Translation

वडहंस महला ३ ॥ ( Je Mohaaka Ghar Muhai.. )

अगर कोई ठग पराया घर ठगे, पराए घर को ठग के (वह पदार्थ) अपने पित्रों के नमित्त दे, तो परलोक में वह पदार्थ पहचान लिया जाता है। इस तरह मनुष्य अपने पित्रों को भी चोर बनाता है । (आगे) प्रभु ये न्याय करता है कि दलाल के हाथ काटे जाते हैं। हे नानक! आगे तो मनुष्य को वही कुछ मिलता है जो कमाता है और (हाथों से) देता है।1।

जैसे स्त्री को हर महीने माहवारी आती है (और ये अपवित्रता सदा उसके अंदर से ही पैदा हो जाती है), वैसे ही झूठे मनुष्य के मुंह में सदा झूठ ही रहता है और इस करके वह सदा दुखी ही रहता है। ऐसे मनुष्य स्वच्छ नहीं कहे जाते जो सिर्फ शरीर को ही धो के (अपनी ओर से पवित्र बन के) बैठ जाते हैं। हे नानक! केवल वही मनुष्य स्वच्छ हैं, सुच्चे हैं जिनके मन में प्रभु बसता है।2।

जिनके पास काठियों समेत घोड़े हवा जितनी तेज चाल वाले होते हैं, जो अपने हरमों को कई रंगों से सजाते हैं, जो मनुष्य कोठे-महल-माढ़ियां आदि पसारे पसार के (अहंकारी हुए) बैठे हैं, जो मनुष्य मन-मानियां रंग-रलियां करते हैं, पर प्रभु को नहीं पहचानते, वे अपना मानव जन्म हार बैठते हैं। जो मनुष्य (गरीबों पे) हुक्म करके (पदार्थ) खाते हैं (भाव, मौजें करते हैं) और अपने महलों को देख के अपनी मौत को भुला देते हैं, उन जवानी से ठगे हुओं को (भाव, जवानी के नशे में मस्त हुए मनुष्यों को) (गफलत में ही, पता ही नहीं चलता कब) बुढ़ापा आ दबोचता है।17।

Punjabi Translation

ਸਲੋਕ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ । ( Je Mohaaka Ghar Muhai.. )

ਜੇਕਰ ਚੋਰ ਝੁੱਗਾ ਲੁੱਟ ਲਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਝੁੱਗੇ ਦੀ ਲੁੱਟ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੇ ਵਡੇਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦੇਵੇ;
ਤਾਂ, ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੀਜ਼ ਪਛਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਤਸਕਰ ਬਣਾ ਲਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਵਿਚੋਲੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਕੱਟੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਨਸਾਫ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਨਾਨਕ, ਅਗਲੇ ਜਹਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੇਵਲ ਓਹੀ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਮੁਸ਼ੱਕਤ ਵਿਚੋਂ (ਲੋੜਵੰਦਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ!

ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹੀ ।
ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤ੍ਰੀਮਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਹਵਾਰੀ ਖੂਨ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
ਏਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਝੂਠੇ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੂਠ ਵਸਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ, ਸਦਾ ਹੀ ਦੁਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
ਉਹ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਧੋ ਕੇ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਹੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ।
ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਹਨ ਉਹ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ।

ਪਉੜੀ ।
ਹਵਾ ਵਰਗੇ ਤੀਰ, ਕਾਠੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ, ਸੁੰਦਰੀਆਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਉਹੋ ਮਕਾਨਾਂ, ਤੰਬੂਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਡੰਬਰ ਰੱਚਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਿੱਤ-ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਉਹ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਹਾਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੇ ਰੁਅਬ ਨਾਲ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖ ਕੇ ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
ਜਦ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜੁਆਨੀ ਹਾਰ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
