Mukhwak: Har Kirpa Har Kirpa Kar Satgur Mel Sukhdata Ram; from pious bani of Sahib Sri Guru Ramdas Ji, documented on Ang 574 of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji under Raga Wadhans.

English Translation

Vadhans Mahala 4th ( Har Kirpa Har Kirpa Kar Satgur Mel Sukhdata Ram )
O, Lord! May we be enabled to join the company (meet) of the True Guru, our only benefactor of all comforts (bliss) and we are (asking) requesting the Guru also to tell us more details of our beloved Master! We have taken refuge at the lotus feet of the Guru, to worship (pray to) the Lord, who has shown us the path leading to unison with the Lord. The True saint of the Lord takes (considers) both joy and sorrow at the same face value (without any distinction), and is always imbued with the love of the Lord. O, Lord! May we be united with the True Guru, our sole benefactor, through Your Grace! (1)

By listening to the True Name in the company of the Guru-minded persons, all our sins including egoistic tendencies have been (burnt) cast away. By reciting the Lord’s True Name all our ills, sins, and worldly afflictions have been got rid of, and this True Name has destroyed all the sins and sufferings of those persons, who have recited True Name. So the persons, blessed by the True Guru with the sword of knowledge have killed the Yama even (god of death) along with all his accomplices. (have overcome the god of death or its fear complex). In fact, when the Lord bestowed His Grace on us, we got control of all our ills and afflictions. Having followed the Guru’s teachings (Guru’s guidance) we have cast away all our sins and egoism. (2)

O, Brother! I have loved the recitation of the Lord’s True Name with devotion (at heart) by all means and have recovered from all our maladies by reciting True Name in the company of renowned Guru-minded persons. Now we have got (freed) emancipated from all our body ills or afflictions as we have cast away all our sufferings by reciting True Name in the company of the holy saints. We have attained peace and tranquillity of mind and remain immersed in the love of the Lord-sublime, too deep for a probe, by reciting True Name day and night. The persons, belonging to high or low castes, who have recited True Name have attained salvation, the highest state of bliss. Now I always recite the True Name, having developed a love for the Lord’s True Name. (3)

O, Lord! May I be saved from this tortuous ocean of life through Your Grace! We are great sinners and helpless poor people who have sought Your support like Your (slaves) devotees. O Lord-benefactor! We have inculcated Your love in our hearts through Your Grace!

O Lord-benefactor, destroyer of all our sins! We were sinking like heavy stones (sinners) in this ocean of life, but have been saved by the boat of safety, the True Name, through Your Grace and benevolence. O, Nanak! The persons, who have partaken the nectar of True Name, in the company of the True Guru, have crossed this ocean of life along with many others by attaining the Lord. O, Lord! May we be saved from worldly sufferings through Your Grace! (4-4)

वडहंसु महला ४ ॥

हे हरि ! मुझ पर कृपा करो एवं सुखों के दाता सतिगुरु से मिला दो।
सतिगुरु से मैं हरि की स्तुति की बातें पूछँगा।
जिसने नाम-धन प्राप्त किया है, मैं उस सतिगुरु से हरि की स्तुति की बातें पूछँगा।
गुरु सतगुरु ने मुझे मार्ग बताया है, इसलिए मैं नित्य उसके चरण स्पर्श करता हूँ और उसके समक्ष सदा निवेदन करता हूँ।
जो हरि-नाम एवं हरि से रंगा हुआ है, वही भक्त दुःख-सुख को एक समान समझता है।
हे हरि ! मुझ पर कृपा करो और मुझे सुखों के दाता गुरु से मिला दो॥ १॥

गुरु के मुख से परमात्मा का नाम सुनकर मेरे सभी पाप एवं अहंकार नष्ट हो गए हैं।
हरि-नाम का भजन करने से संसार के तमाम रोग निवृत्त हो जाते हैं।
जिन्होंने हरि-नाम की आराधना की है, उनके दुःख एवं पाप नाश हो गए हैं।
सतगुरु ने मेरे हाथ में ज्ञान की कृपाण पकड़ा दी है, जिसके साथ मैंने यमदूतों का प्रहार करके वध कर दिया है।
सुखों के दाता हरि-प्रभु ने मुझ पर कृपा धारण की है और मैं दुःख, पाप एवं संताप से मुक्त हो गया हूँ।
गुरु से परमात्मा का नाम सुनकर मेरे सभी पाप एवं अहंकार नष्ट हो गए हैं।॥ २॥

हरि का भजन करने से हरि का नाम मेरे मन को बहुत अच्छा लगा है।
गुरुमुख बनकर परमात्मा का भजन करने से सभी रोग नष्ट हो गए हैं।
गुरुमुख बनकर परमात्मा की आराधना करने से सभी रोग दूर हो गए हैं और शरीर अरोग्य हो गया है।
रात-दिन सहज समाधि हरि में लगी रहती है चूंकि मैंने गहरे एवं गंभीर हरि का ही ध्यान किया है।
उच्च कुल अथवा निम्न कुल से संबंधित जिस व्यक्ति ने भी परमात्मा का ध्यान-मनन किया है, उसने परम पदार्थ (मोक्ष) पा लिया है।
हरि का भजन करने से हरि-नाम मेरे मन को अच्छा लगा है॥ ३॥

हे प्रभु ! मुझ पर कृपा करो और अपनी कृपा करके मेरा उद्धार करो।
हम पापी एवं गुणविहीन हैं किन्तु फिर भी तुम्हारे तुच्छ सेवक हैं।
हे दयालु परमेश्वर ! चाहे हम पापी निर्गुण हैं, फिर भी तुम्हारी शरण में आए हैं।
तू दुखनाशक, सर्व सुखों का दाता है और हम पत्थर तुम्हारे पार करवाने से ही पार हो सकते हैं।
हे नानक ! जिन्होंने सतगुरु से मिलकर राम रस पा लिया है, नाम ने उनका उद्धार कर दिया है।
हे हरि ! मुझ पर कृपा करो और अपनी कृपा द्वारा मेरा संसार-सागर से उद्धार कर दो॥ ४॥ ४॥

ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ, ਮੈਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਅਮੋਲਕ ਨਾਮ-ਰਤਨ ਹਾਸਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ। ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ) ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਾਂਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ (ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਸਤਾ ਦੱਸ) ।

ਉਹ (ਗੁਰੂ) ਹੀ (ਅਸਲ) ਭਗਤ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੁਖ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾ।੧। To continue reading Translation, please download the Hukamnama PDF given below:
