Today’s Mukhwak from Darbar Sri Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar: Gobind Gobind Gobind Sang, Naamdeo Man Leena; baani of the 5th Guru Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, documented on Ang 487 under Raga Asa in Sri Guru Granth Sahib. This baani appears under the title “Asa Bani Bhagat Dhanne Ki” but with the subtitle Mahalla 5th, it is clear that Guru Arjan Dev Ji has created the Shabad to elaborate Bhagti-Principle in the context of Bhagat Sahiban.

Mahala 5 ( Gobind Gobind Gobind Sung )
Namdev (saint) has been immersed in the Lord’s True Name by repeating Gobind all the time, so that an ordinary washerman, having no value, has become a millionaire by attaining the True Lord. (Pause-1)
Kabir, the weaver, belonging to a low caste, developed a love for the lotus feet of the Lord, leaving all his weaving activities and thus amassed the wealth and jewels of True Name. (1)
Ravidas, who used to load and gather the carcasses of dead animals, forsaking the love of worldly falsehood (Maya) became known and acclaimed in the company of the holy saints by perceiving and attaining the Lord. (2)
The barber ‘Sain’, who used to shave various people became known through being counted among saints by inculcating the love of the Lord in his heart. (3)
Thus the farmer (Jat) Dhana, listening to the glory of these saints, got engaged in the Lord’s worship and became fortunate enough by perceiving the Lord in person and merging with Him. (4-2)

महला ५ ॥ गोविंद का नाम जपने से नामदेव का मन गोविंद में ही लीन हुआ था, जिसके फलस्वरूप वह दो कौड़ी का छीपी लखपति बन गया ॥ १॥ रहाउ॥
कबीर जी ने बुनने तथा तानने के कार्य को छोड़कर ईश्वर के चरणों में प्रीति लगाई थी, जिसके फलस्वरूप वह नीच कुल का जुलाहा गुणों का सागर बन गया ॥ १॥
रविदास जी जो प्रतिदिन मृत पशु ढोते थे, उन्होंने भी सांसारिक माया को त्याग दिया तो वह साधुओं की संगति में रहकर सुविख्यात हो गए और उन्हें हरि के दर्शन प्राप्त हुए॥ २॥
सैन नाई छोटे-मोटे सामान्य कार्य लोगों के यहाँ करने वाला सुना जाता था लेकिन जब उसके चित्त में भगवान निवसित हो गया तो वह भी भक्तजनों में गिना जाने लगा।॥ ३॥
इस तरह की कथाएँ सुनकर धन्ना जाट भी प्रेरित होकर भगवान की भक्ति करने लगा। धन्ना जाट भाग्यवान हो गया है, जो उसे साक्षात् गोसाई के दर्शन प्राप्त हुए॥ ४॥ २॥

(ਭਗਤ) ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ (ਉਸ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ) ਅੱਧੀ ਕੌਡੀ ਦਾ ਗਰੀਬ ਛੀਂਬਾ, (ਮਾਨੋ) ਲਖਪਤੀ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਮੁਥਾਜੀ ਨਾਹ ਰਹੀ)।1। ਰਹਾਉ।
(ਕੱਪੜਾ) ਉਣਨ (ਤਾਣਾ) ਤਣਨ (ਦੀ ਲਗਨ) ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਬੀਰ ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਨ ਲਾ ਲਈ; ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਗਰੀਬ ਜੁਲਾਹਾ ਸੀ, ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ।1।
ਰਵਿਦਾਸ (ਪਹਿਲਾਂ) ਨਿੱਤ ਮੋਏ ਹੋਏ ਪਸ਼ੂ ਢੋਂਦਾ ਸੀ, (ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ) ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮਾਇਆ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ) ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਉੱਘਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।2।
ਸੈਣ (ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ) ਨਾਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੁੱਤੀਆਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਘਰ ਘਰ ਸੋਭਾ ਹੋ ਤੁਰੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵੱਸ ਪਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਗਿਣਿਆ ਜਾਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਿਆ।3।
ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਦੀ ਗੱਲ) ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਗਰੀਬ ਧੰਨਾ ਜੱਟ ਭੀ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਖਿਆਤ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਵੱਡੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ।4।2।
