Bhagat Ravidas Ji was one of the leading saints of the Bhakti movement. Although he belonged to the so-called Shudra class, he was a high-class saint who wrote verses for the entire humanity. Ramanand and Valbhacharya started the Bhakti movement, Bhagat Ravidas Ji, Kabir Ji, Namdev Ji etc. took it forward and Guru Nanak Dev Ji brought it to its peak.
Bhagat Ravidas ji strongly refuted those forces which used to divide humanity into castes. He also strongly condemned the false rituals which took man away from God instead of connecting him. The central point of his Bani was Naam Simran. By meditating on the name, a person can reach a state of ease. Only with Naam Simran, lowly people got liberation from this world.

The relevance of Bhagat Ravidas Ji's verse is as relevant today as it was 640+ years ago. Human dignity is identified from living and ethical values. Even today humanity is entangled in caste, territorial disputes and differences. That is why Bhagatji's Bani guides us even today for world peace, because it unites humanity, not divides it. It calms troubled hearts and motivates a person to rise above his personal interests to serve others. In the materialistic age, it teaches man to abandon the attachment of maya. Gives the message of mutual love and complete equality to humanity. Bhagat Ravidas ji has not bowed his head before any god or deity and has not accepted the submission of any King Maharaja. He only worshiped Nirankar as omnipotent and taught others to worship God.
Many books have been written about Bhagat Ravidas Ji, but due to the lack of multi-faceted criticism on his verses recorded in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, this handbook has been prepared. In a very simple language, Bhagatji's life and various aspects of his poetry have been looked at.
