In 1570, the foundation of which was laid initially called Guru ka Chakk, on which later Amritsar was constructed. The rise of the great city, a prophecy of Guru Nanak Dev, would become the central center of faith.
Among others, Sri Ram Das was instrumental in its construction and when Guru Amar Dass moved to the new town, it was known as Chakk Ram Das and later as Amritsar. Over the centuries, Amritsar developed into an important centre of commerce, community life, and Sikh faith. Guru Ramdas Ji asked his Sikhs to help each other in founding business houses and pray for their success.
