Happy Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas

Happy Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas 2022 coming on Dated 24th October 2022, Monday. It is celebrated on the same day the whole of India and other countries with Hindu Population celebrates Diwali – the festival of light. Bandi Chhod Divas commemorates the day when Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji was released from Gwalior Jail along with 52 other Kings.

History

In 1619 when Guru Hargobind Ji was released from imprisonment at the Gwalior Fort, His return was celebrated with much fervor and aplomb. The Golden Temple i.e. Sri Harmandir Sahib was lit up with thousands of lights to welcome the Guru home.

Since then, every year Sikhs continued to celebrate this day as Bandi Chhor Divas by illuminating their homes and Gurudwarass with lamps and lights and distributing sweets. Bandi Chhor Divas coincides with the Hindu festival of Diwali and this has resulted in a similarity of celebrations between Sikhs and Hindus.

ਸੰਨ 1619 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜੀ ਗਵਾਲੀਅਰ ਦੇ ਕਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਤੋਂ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਹੋਏ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਾਪਸੀ ਦਾ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਬੜੀ ਧੂਮਧਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਸੁਆਗਤ ਲਈ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਗਮਗਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ।
ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਰ ਸਾਲ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਸ ਦਿਨ ਨੂੰ ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜ ਦਿਵਸ ਵਜੋਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੀਵਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਠਿਆਈਆਂ ਵੰਡ ਕੇ ਮਨਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਬੰਦੀ ਛੋੜ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੀਵਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਤਿਉਹਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਮੇਲ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੂਆਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਜਸ਼ਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਨਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।
